Weaverville DMV Office: Hours, Services & Appointment Guide

This is the Weaverville DMV in Trinity County, California — at 1511 Main Street, not 1261 Main Street. It is the county’s only DMV field office and it sits in the county seat: open Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a seventy-five-minute lunch closure from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm. It does behind-the-wheel, motorcycle, and written tests, and REAL ID. It has no self-service kiosk, it does not offer a CDL test, and it is not open on Saturday. Renewals, records, and replacement licenses get no counter service here. Independent guide, verified against dmv.ca.gov.

TL;DR

  • Address: 1511 Main Street, Weaverville, CA 96093 — on Main Street in downtown Weaverville, at the junction of SR 299 and SR 3, in the county seat and the county’s largest community. Not 1261 Main Street: one DMV place-listing snippet prints that address, and it is wrong — 1261 Main Street is the CHP Explorer Post’s address. The address is confirmed by the DMV’s own Weaverville field-office page, its wp-json record, and the per-office reference.
  • Hours: Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm. Closed for lunch 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm — seventy-five minutes, not the sixty minutes the locked plan’s file 05 says. Closed Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • This week: in the week of November 9–13, 2026 the office is open Tuesday November 10 and Thursday November 12 only. Closed Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day (it is closed on Wednesdays in any case). Thanksgiving week it is open only Tuesday November 24.
  • The county’s only office: Weaverville is Trinity County’s only DMV field office — Hayfork, Lewiston, Junction City, Douglas City, Trinity Center, Coffee Creek, Hyampom, Burnt Ranch, Salyer, Hawkins Bar, Del Loma, Big Bar, and Helena were all checked against the DMV’s own field-office pages on November 8, 2026, and every one returns a 404. Weaverville is also the county seat, in a county with no incorporated city at all.
  • Tests: behind-the-wheel, motorcycle skills, and written tests are offered. No CDL test here — the DMV’s own service taxonomy carries no commercial test for Weaverville, the official page contains no “commercial” anywhere, and the DMV’s phone-booking list of 29 offices leaves Weaverville out; the nearest confirmed CDL test site is Redding, 30.8 miles away in a straight line.
  • Kiosk: none — no self-service kiosk in the office and none verified anywhere in Trinity County. The nearest verified kiosk is the FoodMaxx terminal in Redding, 31.9 miles away in a straight line.
  • Appointments: recommended, not required, except the behind-the-wheel test, which is appointment-only. Walk-ins work through the Get in Line queue, 7:50 am to 4:00 pm on the office’s open days — but the office’s own notice warns that walk-ins may not be served when the office is busy.
  • Phone: 1-800-777-0133 only. No office-direct number is published for Weaverville — no phone number of any kind appears on the official office page at all.
  • REAL ID: offered here. A first-time REAL ID is an in-person visit with original documents.
  • Do not drive here for: a registration renewal, a license or ID renewal (unless your notice says in person), a driver or vehicle record, or a replacement license — those get no counter service at this office. Do them online, at the Redding kiosk, by mail, or through a partner in Redding.

1The county’s only office: one of one, and the county seat

Weaverville is the county seat of Trinity County and its largest community — 3,667 people at the 2020 census, up from 3,600 in 2010, at an elevation of 2,051 feet in the mountains of far Northern California — and its DMV office is the county’s only one: the two-day-a-week, full-service office that serves the whole county of 16,112 people across 3,208 square miles. That is the honest frame for this office, and it matters because the assumption readers bring to this page is the one the template would have written for a bigger county: that a county this size has several offices, or at least a backup. Trinity County has neither. There is one DMV counter in the county, and it is open two days a week, with a seventy-five-minute lunch break in each of them.

The county-seat half of the story is the Madera pattern on both halves, like Alturas the same morning and Crescent City the same day, and unlike Bishop on the county-seat half: Bishop is the largest city in Inyo County but not its county seat; Weaverville is both. It is the county seat and the largest community in Trinity County, and it is a census-designated place, not a city at all — because Trinity County is one of only three counties in California with no incorporated cities (the other two are Alpine and Mariposa). The courthouse sits here (Trinity County Superior Court, Main Courthouse, 11 Court Street), the county offices sit here, and the county’s only DMV counter sits here. One town holds all three. A reader who lives anywhere else in the county — Hayfork, Lewiston, Junction City, Douglas City, Trinity Center, Coffee Creek — has exactly one town to drive to for any in-person DMV business, and that town is Weaverville. Weaverville has held the county seat since Trinity County was created in 1850, at statehood, as one of California’s 27 original counties.

The no-office check is not an assumption. Every other Trinity County town was checked against the DMV’s own field-office pages on November 8, 2026, and every one returns a 404: Hayfork, Lewiston, Junction City, Douglas City, Trinity Center, Coffee Creek, Hyampom, Burnt Ranch, Salyer, Hawkins Bar, Del Loma, Big Bar, and Helena. Thirteen towns, all 404. There is no second office to fall back on inside the county line, and the nearest alternatives are all in other counties, which is what section 11 is about. The county’s own geography makes this sharper than Alturas: Trinity County is 3,208 square miles with about 16,100 people — roughly five people per square mile — and its only DMV counter sits in the county seat, open two days a week.

The county’s scale explains why the two-day schedule bites so hard. Trinity County counted 16,112 residents at the 2020 census (a 2025 estimate puts it at 15,720), making it the fifth least-populous county in California and the least-populous of California’s 27 original counties, across 3,208 square miles — 3,179 square miles of land and 28 of water — at a density of 5.07 people per square mile. It is named for the Trinity River, it contains the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and the Trinity Alps Wilderness, the second largest wilderness in California, and it is bordered by five counties: Siskiyou to the north, Shasta to the east, Tehama to the southeast, Mendocino to the south, and Humboldt to the west. The one office that serves it is open eighteen hours a week on the clock, and sixteen and a half hours of counter time once the two seventy-five-minute lunch breaks are subtracted. The week of November 9–13, 2026 is the narrowest kind of week this office has: open exactly twice, Tuesday November 10 and Thursday November 12, and a reader who drives to Weaverville on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday finds a closed office, with no other office in the county to absorb the trip.

Weaverville itself is worth a paragraph, because the page’s readers are often new to the area. Weaverville was founded in 1850, a historic Gold Rush town at the foot of the Trinity Alps Wilderness, once home to about 2,000 Chinese gold miners with its own Chinatown; the Joss House, built in 1852, is California’s oldest active Chinese temple and Weaverville’s oldest building. The Trinity Journal has been the county’s newspaper since 1856. Trinity Lake sits fifteen minutes away on SR 3. The town is 100% rural — 0.0% urban — with a median age of 44.1, ZIP 96093, area code 530, and a census-designated-place area of 12.882 square miles, all land. It even has its own power company, Trinity PUD, independent of PG&E. None of that changes the DMV facts, but it explains why the town feels bigger on a map than its resident population suggests, and why the DMV office’s two open days serve a county that is larger than its headcount — and why a visitor should not assume that a county seat this historic runs a full-time office. It does not.

2The two-day week and the seventy-five-minute lunch — the 12–1 correction

Weaverville is open Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm — and it closes for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm, seventy-five minutes, on each of those two days. That is the whole public week for the entire county: two days, eighteen hours on the clock, sixteen and a half hours of actual counter time once the two lunch breaks are subtracted. The week of November 9–13, 2026, the office is open exactly twice: Tuesday November 10 and Thursday November 12. A reader who drives to Weaverville on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday finds a closed office, and there is no other office in the county to absorb the trip. Wednesday November 11 is Veterans Day — every DMV field office in California is closed — but Weaverville is closed on Wednesdays anyway, so the holiday costs this office nothing extra. Thanksgiving week is worse: the office is open only Tuesday November 24, then closed Thursday November 26 and Friday November 27.

The lunch closure is the sharper fact, and it is the one the locked plan itself gets wrong. File 05 lists “lunch closures 12–1 at Alturas/Fall River Mills/Garberville/Weaverville” — the live Weaverville office page says 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm, seventy-five minutes, not sixty. The official page carries the notice twice: a banner at the top (“This office is closed from 12:00PM – 1:15PM for lunch”) and a Location Notice further down (“This office is closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. for lunch”). The same file is also wrong for Alturas, which closes 12:00 to 1:30 pm, ninety minutes, and for Garberville, which closes 12:00 to 1:15 pm, the same seventy-five minutes as Weaverville; Fall River Mills and Quincy close 12:00 to 1:15 pm too, and Mt Shasta has no lunch closure listed at all. A reader who arrives at 12:30 pm for a “quick” errand waits forty-five minutes. A reader who arrives at 1:15 pm — when Fall River Mills and Quincy have reopened — is served in Weaverville too, because the break ends at the same minute. The page corrects the 12–1 figure in the open, because it is the kind of small error that costs a reader a whole morning — and because this site’s own Redding page, published November 7, already prints the correct 12:00–1:15 lunch closure for Weaverville, so the new page must agree with its own sibling.

The day-pattern interlock is the planning fact the page has to carry, and it is the reason the two-day schedule is a region-wide problem rather than a single-office quirk. Weaverville, Fall River Mills, Mt Shasta, Garberville, and Quincy are all Tuesday/Thursday offices. Red Bluff, Yreka, and Susanville are all Monday/Wednesday/Friday offices. So on a Tuesday or Thursday, a Trinity County reader has Weaverville plus four other two-day offices within about 90 miles; on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, the only office open anywhere in the region is Red Bluff, 52.7 miles away in a straight line — or Yreka, 69.1 miles, or Susanville, 122.4 miles; and on a Saturday or Sunday nothing is open at all. Weaverville’s closed days are exactly the days Red Bluff is open, and vice versa — the two offices take turns covering the region, and a reader who does not know the pattern drives to a closed building. The alternatives table in section 11 lists every neighbour with its day pattern, so the interlock is visible in one place.

The practical window inside each open day is shorter than the clock suggests, and the page says so plainly because it decides whether a reader’s errand fits. The morning window is 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and the afternoon window is 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm: four hours in the morning, three hours and forty-five minutes in the afternoon, with the seventy-five-minute break between them. Written and knowledge tests are not offered after 4:30 pm anywhere in California, so the last written test of the day starts well before the 5:00 pm close. An appointment booked for 12:30 pm does not exist. A walk-in who joins the Get in Line queue at noon waits through the break. And the two open days are the whole week — there is no Friday to fall back on, no Saturday to catch up on, and no other office in the county to absorb a missed Tuesday. A missed Tuesday is a wait until Thursday, and a missed Thursday is a wait until the following Tuesday.

3Address — Main Street, the wrong address, and the CHP next door

The Weaverville DMV office is at 1511 Main Street, Weaverville, CA 96093, on Main Street in downtown Weaverville, at the junction of SR 299 and SR 3. The address is confirmed three ways: the DMV’s own Weaverville field-office page prints “1511 Main Street”; the DMV’s wp-json field-office record (3661) gives street “1511 Main Street”, city “Weaverville”, zipcode “96093”, at coordinates 40.725600, −122.933100; and the reference site dmvca.info gives the same address, 1511 Main St, Weaverville, CA 96093. There is one DMV office in Trinity County, and this is it.

Main Street is the town’s main street in the fullest sense: the DMV sits on it, the courthouse sits a block away at 11 Court Street, the county offices sit around it, and the California Highway Patrol’s Trinity River Area office shares the DMV’s address — 1511 Main St, Weaverville, CA 96093, phone (530) 623-3832 — the same street address as the DMV office. A reader who navigates to “1511 Main St, Weaverville” finds both the DMV and the CHP. That shared address also explains the one wrong address circulating for this office, and it is the reason this section exists.

The wrong address is “1261 Main St” — a dmv.ca.gov place-listing snippet gives 1261 Main St for the Weaverville DMV, and this site’s own Redding page flagged it on November 7, 2026. The DMV is at 1511 Main Street. 1261 Main St is the address of the CHP Explorer Post (Highway 299, 1261 Main St, Weaverville) — the CHP’s youth post, not the DMV. The page states the two facts side by side and flags the connection as a likely explanation, not a proven one: the snippet likely confuses the two CHP addresses on the same street, but the snippet’s source was not verified, so the page does not assert it as fact. What is certain is the correction itself: 1261 Main St is not the DMV, and a reader who drives to 1261 Main St looking for the DMV finds the wrong door. Unlike Alturas, where a whole aggregator page prints the wrong address, the wrong days, and a wrong appointment claim, Weaverville’s pollution is a single snippet — but a snippet is enough, because it is the address a map app shows.

The place-data coordinates carry a second, smaller discrepancy that the page notes so a careful reader is not confused by it. The DMV’s place data gives the Weaverville DMV at 40.723076, −122.929016, while the DMV’s own wp-json field-office record gives 40.725600, −122.933100 — about 0.3 miles apart. The page uses the wp-json coordinates for its distance math, and it does not print the place-data coordinates as the office’s location. Either pair of coordinates puts the office on Main Street in downtown Weaverville; the difference is a rounding of the map pin, not a different building. The office is at 1511 Main Street, and the map pin for it is on Main Street either way.

4Hours — two days a week, and the Veterans Day week

The Weaverville DMV office is open Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm, and closed Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — and closed for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm on each open day. The hours below are the DMV’s own calendar for the two weeks it publishes, re-read on November 8, 2026, and they agree with the DMV’s wp-json hours meta and with the full-week table on the per-office reference.

SaturdayClosedNo DMV field office in the county is open on Saturday
SundayClosed—

The week of November 9–13, 2026 is the week to plan around, because it is the narrowest week of the year for this office. The office is open Tuesday November 10 and Thursday November 12 only, and Closed Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day — every DMV field office in California is closed that day, and the official Weaverville calendar shows November 11 as closed (it would be closed on a Wednesday in any case). Monday November 9 and Friday November 13 are closed as usual. So in the week of November 9, Weaverville is open two days out of seven, and a reader who misses both of them waits until the following Tuesday — and the following week is no wider.

The calendar behind that paragraph is the DMV’s own two-week view, re-read live on November 8, 2026: Sunday November 1 closed, Monday November 2 closed, Tuesday November 3 open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday November 4 closed, Thursday November 5 open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday November 6 closed, Saturday November 7 closed, Sunday November 8 closed, Monday November 9 closed, Tuesday November 10 open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday November 11 closed, Thursday November 12 open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday November 13 closed, Saturday November 14 closed. Fourteen days, four open days, and the pattern never varies: Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday, Thursday. The official page also carries the statewide banner: “All DMV field offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.” For Weaverville the holiday costs nothing extra — the office is closed on Wednesdays anyway — but the week still loses its middle day, and the two open days are the whole week.

Thanksgiving week is tighter still, and it is the week after next, so it is worth planning now. The DMV’s official holidays page, re-checked on November 8, 2026, lists Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 – Thanksgiving, Friday, December 25 – Christmas Day, and Friday, January 1, 2027 – New Year’s Day. Thursday November 26 is one of Weaverville’s two open days, so the office is closed for Thanksgiving on a day it would otherwise be open; Friday November 27 is a day it is closed in any case. In the week of November 23–27, 2026, the Weaverville office is open exactly once: Tuesday November 24. Christmas Day, Friday December 25, is a day the office is closed in any case, so the Christmas week keeps its normal Tuesday and Thursday; New Year’s Day, Friday January 1, 2027, is the same. The rule to carry is simple: a holiday that lands on a Tuesday or a Thursday takes one of the two open days away, and a holiday that lands on any other day changes nothing — and the lunch break takes seventy-five minutes out of every open day, holiday or not.

Saturday is never an open day here, and the page says so plainly because the question is asked constantly. No California DMV field office is open on Saturday as a matter of routine, and Weaverville is no exception: the calendar shows Saturday closed in both weeks it publishes, and there is no Saturday pilot, no Saturday appointment, and no Saturday walk-in at this office. One statewide hours guide claims “a small number of designated offices open on Saturdays, 8 am–noon, second and fourth Saturdays” — that is the standard statewide Saturday pattern, and Weaverville is not a Saturday office; do not let the generic claim leak into this page. The same applies to every other office in Trinity County, because there is no other office in Trinity County. A Saturday errand has three honest options: do it online at dmv.ca.gov, do it at the Redding kiosk if it is a kiosk transaction, or wait for Tuesday.

5Services at this office

The Weaverville office offers eight services, and the list below is the DMV’s own “Services Provided” list from the official office page, re-read on November 8, 2026. The list matters because it is the test for the two absences that define this office: “Self Service Terminals” is not on it, which is how the page knows there is no kiosk (see section 9), and there is no separate commercial-testing service on it, which is one of the three signals behind the no-CDL finding (see section 7).

ServiceAt this officeNote
Licensing ServicesYesDriver’s license and ID card applications, renewals that require an in-person visit, and first-time REAL ID
TestingYesBehind-the-wheel, motorcycle skills, and written knowledge tests — no CDL test (section 7)

RegistrationYesRegistration transactions that require a counter visit — routine renewals do not (section 9)
Plates, Permits, & PlacardsYesLicense plates, permits, and disabled-person placards

Payments at this office are cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order — the DMV’s own “Payments Accepted” text on the official page: “DMV field offices accept Cash, Check, Credit Card, Debit Card, Digital Wallet, and Money order.” That is the full list, and it is the same list the DMV prints for its field offices statewide. The page prints no fee amount of any kind, following the office-page policy used across this track: fees change, and a stale fee on a page that is otherwise verified is worse than no fee at all. Confirm the current fee for your transaction on dmv.ca.gov before your visit.

Three transactions deserve a warning because readers assume they are counter jobs and they are not. Registration renewals, license and ID renewals (unless your renewal notice says an in-person visit is required), driver and vehicle records, and replacement licenses get no counter service at this office — or at any California field office, as a matter of statewide policy. They are done online, at a kiosk, by mail, or through a partner. That is the reason section 9 exists: if your errand is one of those four, do not drive to Main Street on a Tuesday and join the counter line, because the counter will send you back to the same online service you could have used from home. The counter is for the transactions that need it — licenses, ID cards, REAL ID, tests, title transfers, and plates, permits, and placards.

6Appointments: how to book, what needs one, and walk-ins

Book on dmv.ca.gov, or call 1-800-777-0133. There are two appointment types in California, and mixing them up is the most common booking mistake on this site: a field office appointment for license, ID card, REAL ID, registration, and title work, and a separate drive test appointment for the behind-the-wheel exam. They are separate tracks with separate availability calendars, and a field office appointment does not book you a drive test. Booking is free — appointments on dmv.ca.gov cost nothing, and any site that charges you to book a DMV appointment is charging you for something the DMV gives away. One aggregator says this office “does not take appointments” — that is wrong, and this paragraph is the correction: appointments are booked on dmv.ca.gov, and the behind-the-wheel test is appointment-only.

An appointment is recommended, not required, for most counter business at Weaverville — except the behind-the-wheel test, which is appointment-only, with no walk-in drive test. The recommendation matters more here than at a five-day office, because the book is only sixteen and a half hours of counter time a week: two open days, each split by a seventy-five-minute lunch break, and every appointment slot in those two days is a slot that cannot be moved to Wednesday. If your errand needs a counter — a first-time license, a first-time REAL ID, a title transfer, a test — book it before you drive. If your errand is a renewal or a record, do not book at all: do it online, at the Redding kiosk, or by mail, and save the Tuesday or Thursday slot for someone whose errand needs the counter.

Walk-ins work through Get in Line, the DMV’s same-day queue. The pattern was verified live on this site on November 4, 2026, through the DMV’s own Service Advisor flow, and confirmed by a second source on November 6, 2026: the queue opens ten minutes before the office and closes at 4:00 pm — so at Weaverville, with its 8:00 am open, the queue runs 7:50 am to 4:00 pm on the office’s open days, Tuesday and Thursday. Join the queue when it opens, watch your place, and come in when your number is called. The queue does not create appointments for the behind-the-wheel test, and it does not open on days the office is closed — there is no Monday queue, no Wednesday queue, no Friday queue, and no Saturday queue at this office. And the lunch break splits the queue day: the office closes from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm, so a walk-in who joins the queue at noon waits through the break.

Weaverville carries a walk-in warning that most offices in this series do not, and the page prints it in full because it changes how readers plan. The official page’s Location Notice says: “Walk-ins are served as time and space allow. Due to a high volume of customers, you may not be served if you do not have an appointment. Please check back another day. We apologize for any inconvenience.” That is a stronger warning than the standard walk-in line, and it means what it says: on a busy Tuesday or Thursday, a walk-in can be turned away, and “check back another day” means waiting until the next open day — two days later, or five, if the next open day is a holiday. The honest advice is the one the notice points to: book an appointment. A booked slot is served; a walk-in is served as time and space allow.

Two claims about walk-ins that circulate online are wrong, and both are worth naming because they change how readers plan. The first is that walk-ins ended during the pandemic and never came back — that is wrong; walk-ins exist, through Get in Line, at this office on its open days. The second is the reverse: that you can walk in and take a driving test the same day — that is also wrong; the behind-the-wheel test is appointment-only, and no walk-in drive test exists. The honest middle is the one this page prints: walk in for counter business through the queue, book ahead for the drive test, and never plan a same-day test.

The phone number is 1-800-777-0133, and it is the only number. No office-direct number is published for Weaverville — no phone number of any kind appears on the official Weaverville page HTML at all, which was checked on November 8, 2026, and the DMV’s place data carries the same statewide number, +1 800-777-0133. The automated line runs around the clock; representatives are available Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If a listing gives you a different number for this office, it is not the DMV’s number for this office, and it was not verified from any official source.

7Driving tests at Weaverville: drive, motorcycle, written — and the CDL answer

The Weaverville office offers three of the four test types: the behind-the-wheel drive test, the motorcycle skills test, and the written knowledge test. The fourth — the commercial driving test, the CDL test — is the one this section has to be careful about, because the answer is no, and the page shows its work rather than asking the reader to trust it.

Behind-the-wheel drive testYesAppointment-only — book on dmv.ca.gov or call 1-800-777-0133; no walk-in drive test
Motorcycle skills testYesAppointment — the DMV’s own locations list carries Weaverville under motorcycle driving test
Written knowledge testYesAt the office — not offered after 4:30 pm anywhere in California
Commercial driving test (CDL)No — not offeredDo not travel for a CDL test here; the nearest confirmed CDL test site is Redding

The three verified tests are confirmed two ways each. The behind-the-wheel test, the motorcycle test, and the written test are all on the office’s own “Testing” service, and the reference data confirms all three, with REAL ID alongside them. The written test carries the statewide rule that applies everywhere in California: written and knowledge tests are not offered after 4:30 pm, so a 4:00 pm arrival for a written test at an office that closes at 5:00 pm is already too late to start one — and at Weaverville, where the last counter hour before the 5:00 pm close is 1:15 to 5:00 pm after the lunch break, the practical window is shorter still. The behind-the-wheel test is appointment-only everywhere in California, and Weaverville is no exception — the appointment is booked through the separate drive-test track, not the field-office track, and the test itself is taken at the office on the day you booked.

The CDL answer is no, and it is no three ways, with no official source saying yes. First, the DMV’s own wp-json service taxonomy for Weaverville carries no “dmv_services-take-a-commercial-driving-test” term — while Redding and Eureka do carry that term. Second, the DMV’s own “Driving Test Sites” handbook page, which lists the 29 offices where a noncommercial Class A or Class B driving test can be booked by phone at 1-800-777-0133 — Arleta, Bakersfield, Bishop, Capitola, Compton, El Centro, Escondido, Eureka, Fremont, Fresno, Fullerton, Lancaster, Modesto, Montebello, Oakland-Coliseum, Rancho San Diego, Redding, Salinas, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Santa Teresa, Stockton, Torrance, Ukiah, Vallejo, Ventura, Visalia, West Sacramento, and Yuba City — does not include Weaverville. Third, the official Weaverville office page’s own text contains no “commercial” anywhere. Three signals, all pointing the same way, and no official source pointing the other way. The page therefore says plainly: no CDL test at Weaverville. If you need a commercial test, the nearest confirmed CDL test site is Redding, 30.8 miles away in a straight line, which is on the DMV’s phone-booking list. Call 1-800-777-0133 before you travel for any commercial test, because CDL skills tests are booked by phone, not online.

The one signal that points the other way is not evidence, and the page names it so a reader who saw it is not confused. The reference site dmvca.info shows a “CDL test” chip for Weaverville — but it shows the identical four-chip list (REAL ID, drive test, motorcycle test, CDL test) for Weaverville, Redding, and Alturas alike, and Alturas is confirmed no-CDL on the same three official signals. The chip is a template list, not evidence. A reader who takes the chip at face value drives to Weaverville for a CDL test that does not exist here. The page’s correction stands on the three official signals, and the chip is the error being corrected. One more caution belongs here, because the Alturas brief got it wrong and this page does not repeat it: the Alturas brief said dmvca.info lists “CDL test: not offered” for Alturas — a live re-check on November 8, 2026 shows the Alturas dmvca.info page lists the same “CDL test” chip as every other office. The Alturas CDL resolution still stands on its three official signals, but that characterisation of the reference page is superseded, and this page does not repeat it.

That finding is also the reason the page does not print the permit-test question count that one driving-education site prints for Trinity County. Question counts are a banned topic on this site — they are never printed as fact, for any office — and the DMV publishes no test route for any office, so this page prints no route either. What the page does print is the practical sequence: pass the written test first, book the behind-the-wheel test through the drive-test track, and arrive with the vehicle, the permit, and the documents the test requires. New drivers and teens should read our teen permit practice guide and our learners permit guide before booking, and new California residents should read the out-of-state license transfer guide — a valid out-of-state license waives the behind-the-wheel test, but it does not waive the knowledge test.

8REAL ID at Weaverville

REAL ID is offered at the Weaverville office, and a first-time REAL ID is an in-person visit with original documents — that is the statewide rule, and it applies here exactly as it applies everywhere in California. The office’s own service list carries Licensing Services, which is the service a REAL ID application sits under, and the reference data confirms the REAL ID chip for this office. What the page will not do is repeat the stale dates that circulate about REAL ID enforcement: the enforcement date that matters is the one the DMV and the Transportation Security Administration publish, and the page’s rule is to confirm it on dmv.ca.gov before your visit rather than to print a date that has already moved once.

The practical consequence of the two-day schedule is sharper for REAL ID than for any other counter transaction, because a first-time REAL ID cannot be done online, cannot be done at a kiosk, and cannot be done by mail. It has to be done in person, at a field office, on a day the office is open — and this office is open two days a week, with a seventy-five-minute lunch break in each of them. If you need a first-time REAL ID in Trinity County, your options are Tuesday or Thursday at 1511 Main Street, or the Fall River Mills office’s two open days, or the Red Bluff office’s three open days. There is no Saturday REAL ID appointment at this office, and there is no walk-in REAL ID that skips the document check. Bring originals only — no photocopies — and bring the full document set the DMV lists for a REAL ID: proof of identity, proof of Social Security number, and two proofs of California residency. The document checklist on this site walks through the full list, and the REAL ID appointment guide covers the in-person rule and the booking track in detail.

One more REAL ID fact belongs here because it is the question readers ask after they have the card: a REAL ID issued in another state does not transfer to California. If you move to California from Oregon — or from any other state — you apply for a California REAL ID as a first-time applicant, in person, with originals, at a California field office. No Oregon office can issue you a California REAL ID. The Weaverville office can, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and so can Fall River Mills and Red Bluff on their open days.

9No kiosk — and how to skip the trip entirely

There is no self-service kiosk at the Weaverville DMV office, and there is no DMV kiosk verified anywhere in Trinity County. The finding is confirmed two ways: “Self Service Terminals” is not on the DMV’s own eight-item services list for this office, and the DMV’s kiosk page for this office — /portal/kiosk/weaverville-field-office/ — returns a 404. The same two checks were run for Fall River Mills, Mt Shasta, Quincy, and Red Bluff, and all four are also kiosk-free; Redding is the exception in the region, and its kiosk is not in the field office at all — it is a retail terminal inside FoodMaxx. The nearest verified kiosk is that FoodMaxx terminal, 1330 Churn Creek Road, Redding, CA 96003, open Monday to Sunday 6:00 am to 12:00 am, 31.9 miles away in a straight line. The Chico field-office kiosk is farther, 88.2 miles away in a straight line, so Redding is the nearest by either measure.

That absence matters because the kiosk is the fastest way to finish the four transactions that get no counter service: registration renewals, license and ID renewals (unless your notice says in person), driver and vehicle records, and replacement licenses. At an office with a kiosk, those four take minutes at a terminal. At Weaverville, they take a drive to Redding, or they take the online service, or they take the mail. The table below is the honest version of the choice, and it is the table to read before you decide whether the trip to Main Street is the trip you need.

No DMV partner business is listed on the official Weaverville page either. The nearby-locations block on the office page renders as a map embed with no partner entries in the fetched HTML, re-read on November 8, 2026 — a verified absence, not a missing lookup. For contrast, the official Redding page does list partners — Cramer Truck Permit Service, Chiew Insurance Services, Red Tape Registration Solutions, Registration Express Group, AAA Redding Branch, and Northern Permit Services LLC — so the absence here is a fact about this office, not a gap in the research. Those partners are Redding’s, not Weaverville’s; a Trinity County reader who wants a partner drives to Redding. Do not invent a Weaverville partner, and do not pay a business that claims to be one unless it appears on the DMV’s own partner list. The same rule applies to AAA, with one difference from the other two-day offices in this series: no AAA branch was found in Weaverville or anywhere in Trinity County, but the nearest AAA branch with DMV services was verified, so this page names it: AAA Redding Branch, 943 Mission De Oro Drive, Redding, CA 96003, 1-530-722-1600, Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, members only — 31.5 miles away in a straight line. AAA members who need a registration renewal done at a branch must travel to Redding, and the page says so with the address and hours, rather than guessing where.

The full kiosk picture for the region is on our DMV kiosk guide, which covers what kiosks handle, where they are, and which renewals and records can be finished without the counter line. For Weaverville readers the summary is one line: the kiosk you need is in a Redding grocery store, the online service is at dmv.ca.gov, and the counter on Main Street is for the transactions that need a person.

10Trinity County guide: which town, which office

Every town in Trinity County uses the same office: Weaverville. That is the whole guide, and the table below is the proof of it — thirteen towns, all checked against the DMV’s own field-office pages on November 8, 2026, all returning 404. The distances are straight-line distances from the Weaverville office, computed from town coordinates, and they are printed so a reader can see how far the one office is from the town they live in — and so a reader who finds a listing for a “Hayfork DMV” or a “Lewiston DMV” knows it is not a DMV field office.

The two towns that need a sentence each are Hayfork and Lewiston, because they are the ones where a reader might reasonably expect an office and be wrong. Hayfork sits 15.5 miles southwest of Weaverville on SR 3, and it is the largest town in the Hayfork Valley — but there is no DMV office in Hayfork, and the valley’s readers drive north to Weaverville on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lewiston sits 6.7 miles southeast of Weaverville, the closest town in the table, on the road toward the Trinity River — but there is no DMV office in Lewiston either, and its readers drive the few miles to Main Street on the same two days. Douglas City, at 5.6 miles, is the closest town of all, and Junction City, at 6.7 miles, is the next; both are minutes from Weaverville, and both use it. The far end of the table is the harder half: Salyer, at 35.6 miles, Hawkins Bar at 32.4, and Burnt Ranch at 29.2, all down SR 299 toward Willow Creek, are far enough that the drive is the hard part and the wait for the open day is the harder part. Mad River (35.4 miles) and Ruth (37.4 miles), in the far south of the county, and Forest Glen (31.9 miles) are the same story on SR 36 — no office, and Weaverville is the answer.

The county’s other institutions sit in Weaverville too, and they are the ones a DMV visit often pairs with. Trinity County Superior Court’s Main Courthouse is at 11 Court Street, Weaverville, CA 96093, phone (530) 623-1208 — the sole Superior Court for all of Trinity County, and the place a traffic ticket is handled rather than the DMV office. Branch sessions are also held at the county sheriff’s substation in Hayfork (6641B SR 3) and the Community Center dining hall in Mad River, but all jury trials are in Weaverville. The court’s counter and phone hours were not verified for this page, so they are not printed here. The California Highway Patrol’s Trinity River Area office shares the DMV’s address at 1511 Main Street, Weaverville, phone (530) 623-3832, and it patrols Trinity County — the same building houses both the office that tests drivers and the officers who patrol the road to it. The court address and phone are from the court’s own site; the CHP address is from a CHP letter dated December 30, 2020, and its phone is corroborated by a second source.

11If Weaverville is closed or booked: the nearest alternatives

When Weaverville is closed — which is five days out of seven — or when its two open days are booked, the alternatives split into two groups, and the split is the whole point of this section: the California offices that can help you, and the offices on the same two-day pattern that cannot help you on the other three days either. The table lists them in distance order, so the interlock is visible in the same place as the answer. The day pattern is printed in every row, because a table that lists Fall River Mills without saying “Tuesday and Thursday only” is a table that sends a reader to a closed building on a Monday.

Road distances are longer. No sourced road distance was found for Weaverville to any of these offices except Redding (about 31 miles west via SR 299, per this site’s own Redding page) — do not print any other road figure; straight-line figures only.

Redding is the answer for almost every “Weaverville is closed” problem, and the page says why in one paragraph. It is the nearest office at 30.8 miles in a straight line — about 31 miles west via SR 299, per this site’s own Redding page — it is the only full-time office anywhere near Trinity County, it is the nearest confirmed CDL test site, and it is the home of the nearest kiosk, the FoodMaxx terminal at 1330 Churn Creek Road, 31.9 miles away in a straight line. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, which means it is open on every day Weaverville is closed. Our Redding DMV guide covers its full-time hours, its own no-kiosk-on-site finding, its seven partners, and the FoodMaxx kiosk in detail. One warning carries over from the Redding page itself: the Redding field office has no kiosk on site — the kiosk is the grocery-store terminal, not an office terminal — so a kiosk errand in Redding means the FoodMaxx, not the field office.

Red Bluff is the answer for the days Redding’s pattern does not need to cover, and it is the interlock that makes the region workable. Red Bluff is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only — Monday and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm — which is the exact complement of Weaverville’s Tuesday and Thursday. Together the two offices cover every weekday: on Tuesdays and Thursdays Weaverville is open and Red Bluff is closed; on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays Red Bluff is open and Weaverville is closed. Neither is open on a weekend. Red Bluff has no kiosk and no CDL test, so CDL business still goes to Redding, but for a license, a REAL ID, a title, or a drive test on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, Red Bluff is the office that is open. Our Red Bluff DMV guide covers its Mon/Wed/Fri hours and the Willows Tuesday/Thursday interlock in the same region. Yreka, at 69.1 miles in a straight line, keeps Red Bluff’s days too — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only — so it is a second option on the same three days, and our Yreka DMV guide covers its Mon/Wed/Fri hours and the Mt Shasta Tuesday/Thursday interlock in the same county.

Eureka is the far westward alternate, 63.6 miles in a straight line via SR 299 west, and it is the second full-time office in the table: open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on the DMV’s 29-office phone list, so it is a second confirmed CDL test site. Our Eureka DMV guide covers its full-time hours, its own county’s only-full-time-office finding, and the Garberville Tuesday/Thursday interlock in Humboldt County. Mt Shasta, Garberville, and Fall River Mills, at 51.6, 61.9, and 81.2 miles in a straight line, keep Weaverville’s own days — Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm — so they are alternatives on the same two days, not on the other three, and none of them has a kiosk or a CDL test. Their guides are not live on this site yet — Mt Shasta is scheduled in this same track and Fall River Mills and Garberville publish later — and they will be linked when they publish. Chico, at 88.2 miles in a straight line, is the far southeast alternate: full-time, and the only field office in the table with a kiosk on site, so it is the answer for a kiosk errand that cannot wait for the Redding FoodMaxx terminal — but Chico is not on the DMV’s 29-office Class A/B phone list, so this page does not print a CDL yes for Chico.

Crescent City is the far northwest alternate, about 97.0 miles away in a straight line — this site’s own Crescent City page prints 96.9, and the two figures agree to a tenth of a mile of rounding — and it is a Tuesday/Thursday office too, so it is an alternative on the same two days, not on the other three. Its guide is live on this site, and it is linked from the Crescent City page’s own alternatives table, which said Weaverville was “not listed as a link target here because its guide is not live” — the guide is live now, and the link is added at this build. The county’s own geography is the reason the table stops where it does: beyond these eight offices there is no nearer California office, and the nearest building in any other direction is in Oregon, which cannot do California business.

12Best time to visit — what to bring — and getting there without a car

The best time to visit the Weaverville office is the earliest slot on a Tuesday or a Thursday, and the reason is arithmetic: two open days a week, sixteen and a half hours of counter time, and a whole county sharing it. Book the first appointment of the day if you can, arrive with the documents already gathered, and do not plan a Tuesday-or-Thursday trip around a storm without a backup day — SR 299 climbs over Scott Mountain and the Trinity Alps foothills and can require chains or close in storms, and a missed Tuesday is a wait until Thursday, and a missed Thursday is a wait until the following Tuesday. The week of a holiday is worse: Thanksgiving week 2026 has a single open day, Tuesday November 24, and the week of Veterans Day has two. The day before and the day after a holiday are the busiest days at any DMV office, so plan a full week before or after a major holiday period whenever you can. And plan around the lunch break: the morning window is 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and the afternoon window is 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm, and an appointment booked for 12:30 pm does not exist.

What to bring depends on the errand, and the table below is the short version. The long version is the document checklist on this site, and the rule that covers every row is the same: originals only, no photocopies, and the renewal notice or appointment confirmation in hand before you leave home.

Getting there without a car is possible, and it is Trinity Transit that makes it possible. Trinity Transit is the only public transit in the county, managed by the Trinity County Transportation Commission, and it runs four intercity fixed routes, all from Weaverville: the Redding Line (Weaverville to Redding, two round trips Monday to Friday, about one hour and thirty minutes); the Willow Creek Line (Weaverville to Willow Creek, two round trips Monday to Friday); the Hayfork Line (Weaverville to Hayfork, two round trips Monday, Wednesday, and Friday); and the Lewiston Line (Weaverville to Lewiston, two round trips). Saturday service runs on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. The Redding Line connects with RABA (Redding Area Bus Authority) and Amtrak in Redding; the Willow Creek Line connects with the Redwood Transit System in Willow Creek. Some stops are by-request only — call the TCDOT office by 5:00 pm the day before the pick-up — and flag stops are not guaranteed: drivers only stop where they can safely pull over, so readers should go to the nearest designated stop.

The fares and exact times are flagged, not printed as current, and the page says so plainly because the numbers it found are stale. The $10.00 Weaverville–Redding fare and the departure times (Weaverville Library 7:35 am and 11:45 am; arrive RABA 8:42 am and 12:52 pm; returns RABA 11:40 am and 4:15 pm, arrive Tops Market 12:39 pm and 5:18 pm) come from a 2015 transit deck, and trinitytransit.org itself was unreachable when this page was researched on November 8, 2026. The page tells readers to check the current schedule on trinitycounty.org or trinitytransit.org before travelling, and it does not print the 2015 times as current. One planning note survives the staleness flag and is worth keeping with attribution: the morning bus gets a reader to Redding before the Redding office opens, and the midday return bus arrives back in Weaverville at 12:39 pm — inside the DMV’s lunch closure — so a bus rider who pairs a Redding trip with a Weaverville errand cannot do both in one morning.

Driving to the office is straightforward and unforgiving in the same measure. The DMV sits on Main Street in downtown Weaverville, at the junction of SR 299 and SR 3. SR 299 is the east–west road: east to Redding, west to Willow Creek and Eureka. SR 3 is the north–south road: north to Trinity Center and Coffee Creek, south to Hayfork. SR 36 runs south from the county via Mad River toward Red Bluff. There is no alternate road east to Redding — SR 299 is it — and no alternate road west to Willow Creek — SR 299 is it either. In winter, SR 299 climbs over Scott Mountain and the Trinity Alps foothills and can require chains or close in storms. Check Caltrans before a winter drive, and never plan a Tuesday-or-Thursday-only trip around a storm without a backup day. The CHP Trinity River Area office shares the DMV’s address at 1511 Main Street, so the same building houses both the office that tests drivers and the officers who patrol the road to it.

Flying is the last option, and it is a thin one. There is no commercial airport in Trinity County. The nearest commercial airport is Redding Municipal Airport, reached by the Trinity Transit Redding Line — but the bus runs on weekdays and the DMV is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, so a flight that lands on a Monday buys a closed office. Do not fly in for a DMV appointment without checking the day first. Trinity County’s small airfields are not a DMV route; this page does not name one.

The Gold Rush town is the reason many readers are in Weaverville at all, and it belongs in this section because it is the context a visitor needs, not because it changes the DMV facts. The Joss House (1852) is California’s oldest active Chinese temple and Weaverville’s oldest building; the Jake Jackson Museum on Main Street is an original 1850s building; the spiral staircases on Main Street are the town’s signature. Trinity Lake is fifteen minutes away on SR 3, and the Trinity Alps Basin Trails system starts in Weaverville. A visitor who pairs a Trinity Lake or Trinity Alps trip with a DMV errand should pair them on a Tuesday or a Thursday, outside the 12:00–1:15 pm lunch closure, and should not assume the town’s size as a county seat means a full-time office — it does not.

Driving schools are the last gap to close honestly. No in-person behind-the-wheel driving school was verified in Weaverville or anywhere in Trinity County. The only verified option is Drivers Ed Direct’s DMV-approved online drivers-ed course, California DMV licensed driving school #E4141, which serves Trinity County and Weaverville teens, Trinity High School, Alps View High, and home-study students; its own page says “Walk in to the Weaverville DMV and take a written permit test.” Its behind-the-wheel training is offered only in the Los Angeles area — not in Trinity County. The nearest verified in-person schools are in Redding: A Plus Safety LLC (E4533, 2765 Bechelli Lane), Moras Driving School (E2044, 810 Lake Blvd Unit F), and Redding Driving School (E4416, 3264 Bechelli Ln) — per one listing checked October 4, 2026, single source, flagged. The course’s own page notes the rule that matters here: after the online course, a teen needs at least one lesson with an approved driving school to activate the permit — and in Trinity County that lesson means a trip out of the county, because no in-person school was verified in it. No Trinity County online traffic school was verified for this page, so none is named; the traffic court for any Trinity County citation is the Superior Court at 11 Court Street, Weaverville.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the address of the Weaverville DMV office?

1511 Main Street, Weaverville, CA 96093, on Main Street in downtown Weaverville, at the junction of SR 299 and SR 3. The address is confirmed by the DMV’s own Weaverville field-office page, its wp-json field-office record, and the per-office reference. It is not 1261 Main Street: one DMV place-listing snippet prints that address, and it is wrong — 1261 Main Street is the CHP Explorer Post’s address. This is the Weaverville DMV in Trinity County, California. There is only one DMV office in Trinity County, and this is it.

What days is the Weaverville DMV open?

Tuesday and Thursday only, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm. The office is closed Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Do not trust listings that say “open Monday through Friday” or “weekdays 8–5” — those are wrong. The DMV’s own office-page calendar for November 1–14, 2026 shows Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and every other day closed.

Does the Weaverville DMV close for lunch?

Yes — closed from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm for lunch on each open day, seventy-five minutes. The office’s own page carries the notice twice: a banner at the top and a Location Notice further down, both saying the same thing. The morning window is 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and the afternoon window is 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm. Do not arrive at 12:30 pm expecting service, and do not trust listings that say the lunch break is 12:00 to 1:00 pm — that is wrong by fifteen minutes.

Is the Weaverville DMV open on Saturday?

No. The office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and no DMV field office in Trinity County is open on Saturday, because there is no other DMV field office in Trinity County. There is no Saturday pilot, no Saturday appointment, and no Saturday walk-in at this office. A Saturday errand has three honest options: do it online at dmv.ca.gov, do it at the FoodMaxx kiosk in Redding if it is a kiosk transaction, or wait for Tuesday.

Do I need an appointment at the Weaverville DMV?

An appointment is recommended, not required, for most counter business — except the behind-the-wheel test, which is appointment-only. Book a field office appointment on dmv.ca.gov for licenses, ID cards, REAL ID, registration, and title work, and a separate drive test appointment for the behind-the-wheel exam. Booking is free. One aggregator says this office “does not take appointments” — that is wrong. The recommendation matters more here than at a five-day office, because the book is only sixteen and a half hours of counter time a week, and the office’s own notice warns that walk-ins may not be served when it is busy.

Can I walk into the Weaverville DMV without an appointment?

Yes, through Get in Line, the DMV’s same-day queue, which runs 7:50 am to 4:00 pm on the office’s open days, Tuesday and Thursday — the queue opens ten minutes before the 8:00 am open and closes at 4:00 pm, and the lunch break from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm splits the day. But read the office’s own warning: “Walk-ins are served as time and space allow. Due to a high volume of customers, you may not be served if you do not have an appointment. Please check back another day.” On a busy Tuesday or Thursday, a walk-in can be turned away, and “another day” means the next open day. Book an appointment if you can. The queue does not create appointments for the behind-the-wheel test, and it does not open on days the office is closed.

Does the Weaverville DMV do driving tests?

Yes, three of them: the behind-the-wheel drive test (appointment-only), the motorcycle skills test, and the written knowledge test (not offered after 4:30 pm anywhere in California). It does not offer a CDL test. The DMV’s own service taxonomy carries no commercial test for Weaverville, the DMV’s phone-booking list of 29 offices does not include Weaverville, and the official office page contains no “commercial” anywhere. The nearest confirmed CDL test site is Redding, 30.8 miles away in a straight line.

Can I get a REAL ID at the Weaverville DMV?

Yes. A first-time REAL ID is an in-person visit with original documents — proof of identity, proof of Social Security number, and two proofs of California residency — and it can only be done at a field office on a day the office is open, which here means Tuesday or Thursday. A REAL ID issued in another state does not transfer to California: if you move here from Oregon or anywhere else, you apply for a California REAL ID as a first-time applicant, in person, with originals. No Oregon office can issue you a California REAL ID.

Is there a DMV kiosk in Weaverville?

No. There is no self-service kiosk in the office — “Self Service Terminals” is not on the DMV’s own services list for this office, and the DMV’s kiosk page for this office returns a 404 — and no kiosk is verified anywhere in Trinity County. The nearest verified kiosk is the retail DMV Now terminal inside FoodMaxx, 1330 Churn Creek Road, Redding, CA 96003, open Monday to Sunday 6:00 am to 12:00 am, 31.9 miles away in a straight line. Registration renewals, license and ID renewals, records, and replacement licenses are done online, at that kiosk, or by mail instead.

What is the phone number for the Weaverville DMV?

1-800-777-0133 only, the statewide DMV number. No office-direct number is published for Weaverville — no phone number of any kind appears on the official Weaverville page at all. The automated line runs around the clock; representatives are available Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If a listing gives you a different number for this office, it is not the DMV’s number for this office, and it was not verified from any official source.

Is the Weaverville DMV the only DMV office in Trinity County?

Yes. Hayfork, Lewiston, Junction City, Douglas City, Trinity Center, Coffee Creek, Hyampom, Burnt Ranch, Salyer, Hawkins Bar, Del Loma, Big Bar, and Helena were all checked against the DMV’s own field-office pages on November 8, 2026, and every one returns a 404. Weaverville is also the county seat and the county’s largest community — the courthouse, the county offices, and the county’s only DMV counter are all in the same town, in a county with no incorporated city at all. The nearest alternatives are Redding, Mt Shasta, Red Bluff, Garberville, Eureka, Yreka, Fall River Mills, and Chico, all in other counties.

What is the closest DMV to Weaverville if this office is closed or booked?

The closest office that can help you is Redding, 30.8 miles away in a straight line — about 31 miles west via SR 299 — open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the nearest confirmed CDL test site. On Weaverville’s closed days, the nearest open office is Red Bluff, 52.7 miles away in a straight line, open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. For a kiosk transaction, the answer is the FoodMaxx terminal in Redding, 31.9 miles away in a straight line. No sourced road distance was found for Weaverville to any of these offices except Redding, so the page prints straight-line figures only.

Book Before You Drive to Weaverville

Weaverville is open two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, and it is the only DMV office in a county of 16,112 people spread across 3,208 square miles — and its drive-test slots are the scarcest appointments in the whole Trinity region. Check the day, check the 8:00 am open, remember the 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm lunch closure, book on dmv.ca.gov before you drive, and do not drive to 1261 Main Street — the office is at 1511 Main Street, and the nearest office that can help you is Redding, 30.8 miles west on SR 299. If your errand is a renewal or a record, use dmv.ca.gov or the mail instead of waiting in the counter line — there is no kiosk in the building, and the nearest one is 31.9 miles away in a straight line.
