Riverside East DMV: Hours, Services & Appointment Guide
The full-service DMV field office for Riverside’s east side, Moreno Valley, UC Riverside, and March Air Reserve Base — at 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, open five days a week, with a self-service kiosk inside. It is NOT the other Riverside office at 6280 Brockton Avenue: same city, same hours, same services, a different building 8.3 miles away — and mixing the two up is the most common Riverside DMV mistake. Wednesday opens at 9:00 am, not 8:00 am, and the office is closed Wednesday, November 11, 2026 for Veterans Day. Independent guide, verified against dmv.ca.gov.
TL;DR
- Address: 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92507 — the east-side field office, in the Sycamore Canyon / Canyon Springs area. Do not confuse it with the other Riverside office at 6280 Brockton Avenue (downtown / Magnolia Center), which is a different field office with the same hours.
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm; Wednesday 9:00 am–5:00 pm; closed Saturday and Sunday. Closed Wednesday, November 11, 2026 for Veterans Day.
- Wednesday opens at 9:00 am, not 8:00 am — and not “closed.” The nearby-office cards on dmv.ca.gov render this office as “Wed closed” this week, because the coming Wednesday is the Veterans Day closure. The office’s own date calendar says Wednesday 9:00 am–5:00 pm, and the calendar governs.
- Kiosk: yes, a self-service kiosk sits inside the office, plus three grocery-store kiosks in Riverside (two open until 1:00 am daily), two in Moreno Valley, and five more in the fallback-office cities — eleven kiosk locations in the cluster.
- Services: nine official categories — licensing, testing, title transfers, registration, plates/permits/placards, replacements, records, miscellaneous original documents, and self-service terminals.
- No DMV field office in Moreno Valley, Perris, Corona, Colton, Rialto, Beaumont, Banning, Yucaipa, or Loma Linda. Those cities have kiosks and registration partners only; their residents use Riverside East, Riverside, Redlands, or San Bernardino for anything that needs a counter.
- Nearest office for Moreno Valley, UC Riverside, and March Air Reserve Base. Moreno Valley City Hall is about seven minutes away; the UC Riverside campus is 4.7 miles away; the March Air Reserve Base main gate is 4.9 miles away.
- Book first. Appointments are free on the official DMV scheduler, and a behind-the-wheel drive test is a separate appointment type from a general office visit. Routine renewals, records, and replacements get no counter service — use the online portal, a kiosk, a partner, or mail instead.

1The east-side office — and why Riverside has two DMVs with almost the same name
Riverside has two DMV field offices, and this page is about the east-side one: the Riverside East field office at 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92507, in the Sycamore Canyon / Canyon Springs area on the city’s east side, about seven miles southeast of downtown Riverside. The other Riverside office sits at 6280 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506, in the downtown / Magnolia Center area — a different building, a different neighbourhood, the same hours pattern, the same nine services. If you searched for “Riverside DMV” and landed here, check the street: Sycamore Canyon Boulevard means Riverside East, Brockton Avenue means the other office. Section 9 compares the two side by side, because confusing them is the most common Riverside DMV mistake after the hours mistakes below — and because the two names are one word apart, the scheduler lists both, and picking the wrong one sends you 8.3 miles across town.
Its official page labels it a “Field Office” — not a kiosk, not a partner, and not an Industry Business Center — and that label is the first thing to get right, because the Riverside East page’s own nearby list also shows a San Bernardino Industry Business Center and a Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center, neither of which is a public counter. A reader who drives to either of those expecting counter service will find a door that does not do licenses, tests, or registration for the general public. The field office is at 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard. The Industry Business Center and the commercial test centre are not substitutes for it, and section 9 explains both traps in full.
Second, the scope correction that saves readers a wasted trip in the other direction: this is a full field office, not a limited-service site. Its official services list runs to nine categories — licensing, testing, title transfers, registration, plates/permits/placards, replacements, records, miscellaneous original documents, and self-service terminals — and that breadth matters because readers often assume an east-side office is a limited one. On the official listing, it is not. If your task needs a counter, an examiner, or a REAL ID, this office does it. If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, the kiosk inside this office — or the grocery-store kiosks in Riverside and Moreno Valley, open until 1:00 am — may do it faster, and section 7 draws that line sharply.
Third, the catchment. Riverside East is the nearest full-service office for three large audiences that have no office of their own. Moreno Valley, population 208,634 at the 2020 United States census, has no DMV field office — its dmv.ca.gov office slug returns a “Page not found,” verified November 6, 2026 and first verified November 1, 2026 — and Riverside East is 3.3 miles, about seven minutes, from Moreno Valley City Hall by the routing run for this page (the reverse direction measured 3.9 miles; one-way routing differs slightly, and either way the drive is about seven minutes). UC Riverside sits in the same 92507 ZIP as this office, 4.7 miles, about eleven minutes, from the campus main entrance, with 27,633 students enrolled in fall 2025 — a campus record, with a record entering class of 8,293 first-year and transfer students — and every fall thousands of new students need a first California licence, a permit test, or a REAL ID. March Air Reserve Base sits immediately south of Moreno Valley, 4.9 miles, about ten minutes, from the main gate; the airfield was built in 1918, and on April 1, 1996 March Air Force Base became March Joint Air Reserve Base under Air Force Reserve Command. The honest framing, stated once so it is never overstated: dmv.ca.gov does not assign catchment areas, so this page never calls Riverside East the “official” office for Moreno Valley, UCR, or March Air Reserve Base. It is the nearest full-service field office to all three, and that is why this guide exists.
Fourth, the city itself, because the office’s name only makes sense inside it. Riverside is a city in western Riverside County, California, in the Inland Empire — part of the San Bernardino–Riverside metropolitan area and the Greater Los Angeles area. It sits on the Santa Ana River, at the foot of the Box Springs Mountains, in the valley between the San Bernardino Mountains to the north and the Cleveland National Forest to the south, and covers about 81 square miles. Population 314,998 at the 2020 United States census, which makes Riverside the largest city in Riverside County and its county seat. Moreno Valley, at 208,634, is the county’s second-largest city; San Bernardino is the county seat of San Bernardino County, a different county — worth saying plainly where the San Bernardino office appears in section 9, because a reader crossing the county line should know it. Riverside was incorporated October 11, 1883, founded in 1870 as a colony for orange growers on the Santa Ana River; the navel orange industry made Riverside one of the richest cities per capita in the United States by the 1890s, and the citrus heritage still shows in the city’s street names and in the California Citrus State Historic Park on the city’s west side. The office sits in the Sycamore Canyon / Canyon Springs neighbourhood — a mix of retail (Canyon Crest Towne Centre, Moreno Valley Mall two miles east), industrial parks (Sycamore Canyon Industrial Park, Hunter Industrial Park), and the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park. The neighbourhood’s own character is worth echoing in one line: this is a driving neighbourhood, not a walking one — plan the trip by car or by the RTA trip planner, not on foot.
Finally, a note on what this page is and is not. This is an independent guide, not the DMV. We cannot book for you, we cannot see live slot availability, and we never charge for booking — booking on dmv.ca.gov is free, and any site charging a booking fee is not the DMV. Every office fact below was re-read on the official dmv.ca.gov pages on November 6, 2026. Where a fact could not be verified on an official source, this page says so instead of printing a guess: no street-by-street drive-test route, no motorcycle-testing claim, no commercial-testing claim, no parking description, no wait-time minutes, and no review numbers appear anywhere below. The one review figure that circulates for this office — a 2.8-star rating with 291 reviews in Google’s knowledge panel — belongs to the Brockton Avenue office, not to Riverside East, and this page does not transplant it onto the wrong building.
2Hours — five days a week, Wednesday opens at nine, and the Veterans Day closure
The weekly pattern is the standard California field-office pattern, confirmed on the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page, which prints a two-week calendar (November 1–14, 2026) showing the same pattern in both weeks — the strongest form of this verification, because it is not a single-day snapshot. The pattern below is that calendar’s answer:
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Tuesday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Wednesday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (opens one hour late) |
| Thursday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Saturday – Sunday | Closed |
The Wednesday quirk is the detail that catches the most people, and at this office it catches them twice. First, every other weekday opens at 8:00 AM, but Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM. Do not show up at 8:00 on a Wednesday expecting the early-bird advantage — you will wait outside for an hour. Second, and unique to this week, the nearby-office cards on dmv.ca.gov render Riverside East — and every other field office in the cluster — as “Wed closed.” That rendering is not a Wednesday closure: the coming Wednesday is November 11, the Veterans Day closure, and the cards are showing the holiday, not the weekly pattern. The office’s own date calendar proves it: Wednesday, November 4 reads 9:00 am–5:00 pm, and Wednesday, November 11 reads closed. This page follows the date calendars, not the summary cards, and prints Wednesday 9:00 am–5:00 pm everywhere. If a search result tells you this office is closed on Wednesdays, that result is reading the holiday card, not the calendar.
Weekends are closed, full stop, and this page states that explicitly rather than leaving the weekend blank, because a blank weekend reads as “unknown” and an explicit “closed” answers the single most-asked weekend question about this office. No California DMV field office lists Saturday hours as a rule, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for Riverside East — one rival page claims the Brockton Avenue office “does provide services on Saturdays,” and that is wrong for every field office in the state. Do not let a partner’s Saturday hours or a kiosk’s weekend hours be misread as a field-office Saturday opening. The Ralphs kiosk at Canyon Crest is open 5:00 am–1:00 am seven days a week, including weekends; the field office is not, and confusing the two is exactly how a Saturday trip gets wasted. One historical exception, stated once so it is never mistaken for a recurring opening: Riverside East was one of the eleven California offices that opened special Saturday hours (8:00 am–1:00 pm, appointment-only) on May 10, 2025 to clear the REAL ID rush before the May 7, 2025 enforcement date. That was a one-day event. The office is closed every Saturday now.
Closed Wednesday, November 11, 2026 — Veterans Day: all DMV field offices are closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, in observance of Veterans Day. The closure is confirmed by this office’s own two-week calendar, which shows Wednesday, November 11 as closed — the only weekday closure in the November 1–14 window — and by the DMV’s banner on every office page: “All DMV field offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.” If you are planning a visit for that week, book Thursday, November 12 or Friday, November 13 instead. This page prints only this verified closure; it does not print a generic holiday list, because no other holiday closure was verified for this office on dmv.ca.gov on November 6, 2026. Hours above are the regular weekly pattern as listed on dmv.ca.gov; check the office page before a holiday-week visit, because holiday closures override the regular pattern.
One more timing note that applies statewide: knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered after 4:30 PM, so do not arrive at the last hour of the day and expect to test. “Open until 5” does not mean “tested until 5.” Two independent driving-school guides agree on the 4:30 PM cutoff, and this page prints it as a guide-sourced rule, not as a dmv.ca.gov fact — do not book the last slot of the day for a permit test. State holidays can change hours too, so confirm on the official office page the day before you go — see our California DMV holidays guide for the general holiday pattern, and remember that holiday closures override the regular pattern above. The DMV page shows a rolling two-week calendar, not just a standing pattern, so the calendar on the day you check is the authority — this page’s table is the pattern as verified on November 6, 2026.
3Services at this office
The office provides nine services, exactly as listed on dmv.ca.gov, in the order printed. Each category below is explained in one plain sentence, staying inside the official label — no invented sub-services, because the official page lists categories, not an enumeration of every transaction inside them:
| Service (official list) | What it means for your visit |
|---|---|
| Licensing Services | Driver licenses (new, renewal, replacement), ID cards, and REAL ID applications at the counter. REAL ID first applications require an in-person office visit with original documents — this is the single biggest reason people still visit in person. Start the application online first for a confirmation code; it shortens counter time. |
| Testing | Knowledge (written) tests and behind-the-wheel drive tests, booked through the official scheduler. The list says “Testing” and nothing more specific — motorcycle and commercial testing availability is not itemized for this office, so check the scheduler rather than assuming either. See section 5. |
| Title Transfers | Private-party sales, family transfers, and out-of-state titles. Bring the signed title — a missing signature is the classic second-trip cause. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification at the office. |
| Registration | New vehicle registrations and renewals that cannot be completed online or at a kiosk. Simple registration renewals are often kiosk or online tasks instead — check section 7 before booking. |
| Plates, Permits, & Placards | Replacement license plates, temporary operating permits, and disabled person placards. Placard applications can also be handled by mail on the official form — this page mentions the mail route so readers who do not need to visit are not funnelled into an appointment. |
| Replace Lost/Stolen/Damaged | Duplicate driver licenses, registration cards, and vehicle titles when the original is lost, stolen, or damaged. Check online eligibility first — a replacement that can be ordered online does not need a Sycamore Canyon trip. |
| Records | Driver and vehicle record requests. Records are also available online and at kiosks in some cases; treat the office as the fallback for records that cannot be obtained another way, not the default. |
| Request miscellaneous original documents | The catch-all counter category for original documents that have no online route, reproduced verbatim from the official list. Described honestly as a catch-all: if your document is not listed anywhere else, this is the counter category to ask about, and you should call the statewide line before travelling for an unusual document. |
| Self Service Terminals | The on-site kiosk. It handles certain registration services and record requests; it does not issue licenses, run tests, or process REAL ID. That line is drawn sharply throughout this page, or readers will queue at the kiosk for a task it cannot do. |
Payment is the same statewide line printed on the office page: the DMV accepts cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order at field offices. The statewide phone line for everything is 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). Present it exactly that way — as the statewide line — never as “the Riverside East office’s direct number,” because no office-specific number is published for Riverside East, and the number does not appear on the Riverside East office page itself. Any “direct Riverside East DMV number” from a directory is unverified, and several directory-style pages imply a local number by printing 1-800-777-0133 against the office name. Do not fall for that framing. This page deliberately prints no fee dollar amounts for individual transactions: fee line items are gated until re-verified on dmv.ca.gov at build time, and the one figure that is safe to state is that booking itself is free.
Before you book, use the DMV’s own decision tree, from its appointments page: (1) can it be done online? (2) is it a kiosk-eligible registration or record task? (3) is it a registration-only task and are you a AAA member or willing to pay a partner fee? (4) does it need a counter, an examiner, or a REAL ID? Then book Sycamore Canyon Boulevard. (5) is Riverside East booked out? Use Riverside (Brockton Avenue) first, then Redlands or San Bernardino, before giving up. One more scope rule before you book, because it saves more trips than any other paragraph on this page: routine services get no counter service at all. Simple registration renewals, eligible license and ID renewals, record copies, and replacement licenses are routed by the DMV to online, kiosk, mail, or phone options — the counter will not do them. If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, the kiosk inside this office (open during office hours) or the Ralphs kiosk at Canyon Crest (open 5:00 am–1:00 am, seven days a week) probably beats a weekday office visit. If it is a REAL ID, a first license, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the office. And one thing this office does not do: smog checks. Field offices do not perform smog inspections — use a licensed smog-check station, and see our smog check guide for the process.
4Appointments: how to book, what needs one, and walk-ins
Booking happens only on the DMV’s official scheduler, and it is free. Here is the play for a Riverside East visit:
Step 1. Go to the official DMV appointment page (“Schedule an Appointment” on dmv.ca.gov).
Step 2. Choose your appointment type FIRST. This is the highest-value sentence in this section: a field-office visit and a behind-the-wheel drive test are handled as separate appointment types in the official scheduler, with separate queues. Booking the wrong type means rebooking. Pick “office visit” for licenses, ID, registration, and most counter services; pick “drive test” for the road test.
Step 3. Search by ZIP (92507) or “Riverside East” and pick the 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard office — not the Brockton Avenue office, not a partner address, and not a kiosk address, none of which takes appointments. Watch out for the two-Riverside trap in section 9: the scheduler lists both Riverside offices, and picking the wrong one sends you across town.
Step 4. Pick a date and time. Morning slots move fastest. If Riverside East shows nothing on your date, widen the same search to Riverside (Brockton Avenue) first — it offers the same hours pattern and the same nine services, 17 minutes west — then to Redlands or San Bernardino, before giving up. Offices serve all California residents regardless of home address, and cancellations open slots when you check back. Remember the Veterans Day closure: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is closed, so do not expect a slot that day.
Step 5. Enter your contact details and confirm. Save the confirmation — you will need it if anything changes. For driver’s license and ID transactions, complete the online application first; appointment slots open after you submit it.
Prefer the phone? Call the statewide line, 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). The DMV also runs a same-day “Get in Line” check-in system — describe it honestly as a same-day option, not as a guaranteed walk-in route, and never as a promise of same-day availability or a blanket walk-in policy. Those are unverifiable topics, and they stay unverified here. Whether Riverside East specifically offers Get in Line was not shown on the office’s own page in this research, so this page promises nothing office-specific and links to our Get in Line guide for the statewide picture instead. If you are heading to the office without an appointment, check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option, and bring everything on our documents checklist so you do not burn a second trip. More on the whole booking process in our California DMV appointment guide. This page prints no wait-time minutes: the live wait display on dmv.ca.gov changes hourly, and any snapshot quoted here would go stale within the hour, so check the live display on the morning of your visit instead. One warning worth a paragraph of its own: third-party sites that charge to “book” a DMV appointment do not reserve a real slot. Appointments are free and only through dmv.ca.gov. And the new-resident rule that belongs in every office guide, stated the right way round because the internet so often reverses it: for a new California resident, vehicle registration is due within 20 days and a California driver license within 10 days. License 10, registration 20 — never reversed. New residents should also read our new residents guide for the full arrival-week rules.
5Driving tests at Riverside East: what to expect
The drive-test story at this office starts with the booking warning from section 4, because it is where the most rebooking happens: a behind-the-wheel test is handled as a separate appointment type from a general office visit, and it is appointment-only — there is no walk-in path for a road test anywhere in California. Book “drive test” for the road test, not a general visit. The office lists “Testing” among its official services, so tests happen here — but this page asserts no examiner route and no test-type breakdown. No verified turn-by-turn route text exists for Riverside East, and practice loops on third-party sites are someone’s guess, not the examiner’s plan. Do not buy a “guaranteed Riverside East route” from anyone, and do not repeat any third-party “Riverside East DMV test route” post as if it were official. What you can prepare for is the standard California examiner skill set, from the California Driver Handbook and our driving test appointment guide: left and right turns, stops at intersections, lane changes with mirror and blind-spot checks, straight-line reversing, curbside parking, traffic checks, and space management. The places test-takers most often lose points are residential segments — parked cars, cross-street traffic, pedestrians — not wide arterials, and the classic point-losers everywhere in California are missed mirror and blind-spot checks before lane changes, rolling stops, following too closely, speed mismatched to conditions (not just the posted limit), and pedestrian-awareness failures at crosswalks.
Test-day checklist (standard statewide): your instruction permit (or existing license); a licensed driver to accompany you; the test vehicle’s current registration and proof of insurance; and a car that passes the examiner’s pre-drive check — brakes (foot and parking), horn, turn signals front and back, brake lights, tires, unobstructed windshield, working doors and windows, a driver-side window that rolls down, seat belts, two mirrors, two plates with current registration, defroster, hazard lights, headlights, and wipers. The examiner will ask you to locate and demonstrate controls (window, wipers, signals, brake lights, horn, parking brake, defroster, hazards, headlights) and arm signals. After a failed test, a waiting period applies before retesting and attempts are limited — the scheduler shows when you can rebook, and this page prints no specific wait or attempt numbers without a Handbook citation. One scope note that matters for families: drive tests happen at the field office only — not at a kiosk, not at a partner, not online. And the motorcycle and commercial notes, stated once plainly: one competitor lists this office as offering a motorcycle skills test and a CDL test, and then marks CDL test as not offered in its own comparison table — the same page contradicting itself, and its comparison table claims motorcycle testing for Riverside East but not for Riverside (Brockton), while its own Riverside page claims the opposite pattern. The official Riverside East page lists only the category “Testing,” with no breakdown at all. This page repeats neither claim, in either direction: check the appointment system for this office’s drive-test, motorcycle-test, and CDL-test availability before you go, and do not trust a competitor’s test tags for this office, because none of them appears on the official page. The same competitor-style error appears in another directory, which invents a “Riverside East Commercial Testing Center” — no such place exists; the commercial drive-test centre in this cluster is the Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center, 10207 Poplar Avenue, and it is not a public counter (section 9).
Which office for the test: Riverside East is the default — closest to the east-side catchment, full-service, kiosk on site. If Riverside East shows no drive-test slot, Riverside (Brockton Avenue) is the same work 17 minutes away; Redlands and San Bernardino are the northern alternatives at about 24 minutes; Fontana and Norco are the western alternatives; Rancho Cucamonga and Hemet are the last resorts. Redlands has no kiosk, but a drive test does not need a kiosk — do not rule Redlands out for a test on kiosk grounds. Two audiences deserve a paragraph of their own. UC Riverside students: with 27,633 students enrolled at UC Riverside in fall 2025 (a record entering class of 8,293), first licences and permit tests are a real Riverside East use case — the office is 4.7 miles, about eleven minutes, from the campus main entrance. Students should note the same booking-type rule, and that the knowledge test is not given after 4:30 PM — do not book the last slot of the day for a permit test. March Air Reserve Base personnel: military personnel at March Air Reserve Base taking a test at Riverside East (4.9 miles, about ten minutes, from the main gate) should note the same booking-type rule — a drive test is a separate appointment type from an office visit, and no DMV partner runs tests. Base personnel moving to California should also read our military moving to California guide and our PCS orders DMV guide for the arrival-week rules.
6REAL ID at Riverside East
A first REAL ID is an in-person job, and Riverside East is where the east side, Moreno Valley, and UC Riverside do it. The DMV requires a first REAL ID application to be made in person at a field office, with original documents — a first-time REAL ID needs proof of identity, proof of Social Security number, and two proofs of California residency, all originals, never photocopies. REAL ID enforcement for domestic flights and entry to federal buildings began May 7, 2025, so a standard license alone no longer gets you through a TSA checkpoint, and that date is the reason the REAL ID queue at this office stays busy. Book an appointment — a walk-in REAL ID visit risks a wasted trip, because the document check takes longer than a simple renewal — and do not arrive at the last hour of the day: the office closes at 5:00 pm and the document review needs real counter time. The kiosk inside the office cannot issue a REAL ID, and no partner can either; the AAA branch in section 8 is member-only and handles registration-type services, not REAL ID. Details in our REAL ID appointment guide.
The document list below is the DMV’s official REAL ID document list (form DL 1010E), in the DMV’s own three groups. Start the application online first for a confirmation code — it shortens counter time — and check the exact document list on the DMV’s REAL ID page before your visit.
| Group | What to bring |
|---|---|
| 1 — One identity document Original or certified copy only | Unexpired U.S. passport or passport card; certified birth certificate from a U.S. state or territory; valid unexpired Permanent Resident Card; unexpired Employment Authorization Document (EAD) card; Certificate of Naturalization; Consular Report of Birth Abroad; or a valid foreign passport with lawful-presence evidence. The name on it must match the name you want printed — if not, bring certified legal name-change documents (certified marriage certificate, adoption documents, court-ordered name change, domestic partnership certificate, or dissolution of marriage). If your name has changed more than once, bring the documents for each change. |
| 2 — One proof of Social Security number Full number required, no photocopies | Social Security card; W-2 form; SSA-1099; Non-SSA-1099; or a paystub showing the full Social Security number. One third-party page claims pay stubs do not count for this group — that contradicts the official form, which lists a paystub explicitly. Trust the official form. |
| 3 — Two different proofs of California residency Copies accepted, but printed documents required | Two different documents from the DMV’s list, both showing the same mailing address you list on the application: home utility bills (including cellular phone); bank or credit union statements; mortgage bills; rental or lease agreements; insurance documents; medical documents; deed or title to residential real property, or a property tax bill or statement; school documents (including date of birth); voter registration confirmation letter or postcard; a document issued by a government agency; or a completed No Fee Identification Card Eligibility Verification (DL 933) form. |
Two rules that catch people out. First, the P.O. Box rule: proof of a physical address is required. A P.O. Box can be the mailing address, but one residency document must show both the P.O. Box and the physical address. Second, bring your current driver’s license or ID card to the visit, and remember that a REAL ID is issued at the field office, not at a kiosk and not by a partner, and a renewal of an existing REAL ID is a different, simpler transaction than a first application — check online eligibility before booking a counter visit for a renewal. This page prints no REAL ID fee amount: check the current fee on dmv.ca.gov. One more REAL ID note specific to this office: Riverside East was one of the eleven California offices that opened special Saturday hours (8:00 am–1:00 pm, appointment-only) on May 10, 2025 to clear the REAL ID rush. That was a one-day event before the May 7, 2025 enforcement date, not a recurring Saturday opening — do not plan a Saturday REAL ID visit on the strength of it.
7The kiosk story: one on site, five in town, five more in the fallback cities
Read this section as the correction to every guide that gets Riverside East’s kiosk position wrong in either direction. Riverside East is a kiosk office — but “kiosk” on this page means eleven different machines, and merging them is how readers waste trips. The on-site kiosk sits inside the field office and is available during office hours. The five grocery-store kiosks in Riverside and Moreno Valley are different machines in grocery stores, open from early morning to late at night, including weekends when the office is closed. The five cluster kiosks sit in the fallback-office cities. Count it carefully, the way this series counts everywhere: 1 on-site kiosk (inside the Riverside East field office) + 3 grocery kiosks inside Riverside + 2 in Moreno Valley + 5 cluster kiosks (in the fallback-office cities) = 11 kiosk locations in the cluster, of which 1 is in the office itself. Never write “11 kiosks in Riverside” — that is the counting error this series warns against, and it would be wrong here too: only three of the eleven sit inside Riverside city limits, and two more sit in Moreno Valley.
| Kiosk | Hours | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| On-site kiosk — Riverside East field office 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92507 | During office hours (Mon–Tue/Thu–Fri 8–5, Wed 9–5) | The office’s own kiosk, confirmed by the callout “This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line” and by “Self Service Terminals” in the services list, with its own kiosk page on dmv.ca.gov. Its calendar mirrors the office itself — so the on-site kiosk is no help on a weekend, unlike the grocery kiosks below |
| Ralphs in Riverside (Canyon Crest) 5225 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA 92507 | Mon–Sun 5:00 AM – 1:00 AM | The nearest grocery kiosk, in the same 92507 ZIP as the office — and the earliest-opening, latest-closing kiosk in the cluster. Open weekends, when every field office is closed |
| Ralphs in Riverside (Magnolia) 6155 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506 | Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 1:00 AM | On the Riverside East page’s own nearby list. The Magnolia Center side of the city, near the Brockton Avenue office |
| Ralphs in Riverside (La Sierra) 3350 La Sierra Avenue, Riverside, CA 92503 | Mon–Sun 5:00 AM – 1:00 AM | From the Norco and Platinum Services nearby lists on dmv.ca.gov. The west-side Riverside kiosk |
| Superior Grocers in Moreno Valley 23857 Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 | Mon–Sun 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM | On the Riverside East page’s own nearby list. Moreno Valley’s in-town kiosk for registration-type tasks — the city has no field office, so this machine matters more than most |
| Food 4 Less in Moreno Valley 24440 Alessandro Boulevard, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 | Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 12:00 AM | On the Riverside East page’s own nearby list. The second Moreno Valley kiosk, open until midnight daily |
| Ralphs in San Bernardino 4444 University Parkway, San Bernardino, CA 92407 | Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 1:00 AM | Cluster kiosk for readers already driving to the San Bernardino office — from dmv.ca.gov nearby lists |
| Superior Grocers in San Bernardino 1108 West 2nd Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410 | Mon–Sun 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Cluster kiosk for San Bernardino trips — from dmv.ca.gov nearby lists |
| Vons in Yucaipa 33644 Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa, CA 92399 | Mon–Sun 5:00 AM – 12:00 AM | Cluster kiosk for Yucaipa readers — Yucaipa has no field office, so this is its only official DMV presence in town |
| Ralphs in Fontana 16225 Sierra Lakes Parkway, Fontana, CA 92336 | Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 1:00 AM | Cluster kiosk for Fontana trips — from dmv.ca.gov nearby lists |
| Superior Grocers in Fontana 16055 Foothill Boulevard, Fontana, CA 92335 | Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Cluster kiosk for Fontana trips — from dmv.ca.gov nearby lists |
What kiosks do, per the DMV’s kiosk FAQ: they are “self-serve stations where you can complete certain registration services and request driver or vehicle records,” and “the range of services varies by kiosk location.” The full kiosk task list: complete a registration renewal (sticker printed immediately), file for planned non-operation (PNO), pay a vehicle registration suspension reinstatement fee, submit or remove an affidavit of non-use (ANU), submit proof of insurance when requested, receive a driver’s record or vehicle record, receive a replacement registration card or sticker, renew a driver’s license or ID card where eligible, replace a driver’s license, or change an address. Vehicle types include autos, pickups, motorcycles, coach and park-model trailers, commercial vehicles not paying CVRA fees, and vessel registration. The DMV’s kiosk FAQ says there are 289 kiosks statewide. Bring the renewal notice (with its Renewal Identification Number) or the current registration card; for a replacement card or sticker bring the plate number and the last five digits of the VIN; for records bring the licence or ID card. What kiosks cannot do: no first-time REAL IDs, no drive or knowledge tests, no first-time licences, no title transfers, and no appointments. The decision rule is simple — if the task is a renewal or a record copy, use a kiosk; if the task involves you (license, permit, test, REAL ID), book the Sycamore Canyon office. More in our DMV kiosk guide. Kiosk hours follow the host grocery store’s hours in practice, so confirm on dmv.ca.gov before a late-night trip, and do not present the grocery-store hours as a DMV guarantee — they are store-hours listings, not a DMV promise. Kiosk payments, in general terms: kiosks accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards — not checks or money orders — and a 1.95% service fee applies to credit and debit card transactions at kiosks, per the DMV’s kiosk FAQ. The field office’s six payment methods in section 3 are the office list, not the kiosk list.
8DMV partners near Riverside East: registration help for an extra fee
DMV business partners are private businesses authorized by the DMV to handle certain registration services — not DMV offices, and not a substitute for one. The official wording is worth quoting: partners handle registration services “often with much shorter wait times (if any!)” and “additional fees may be applied by this partner.” Ask the price before handing over paperwork — the partner’s fee is on top of the DMV’s, and this page quotes no partner fee figure, because none was verified. Partners handle registration-type work only; they do not issue licenses, run tests, or process REAL ID. The Riverside East page’s own nearby list carries no partner entries at all — every partner below was verified on its own dmv.ca.gov partner page or on another office’s nearby list, never copied from a directory, and the table says which.
| Partner | Hours (DMV listing) | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| AAA Riverside Branch 3700 Central Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506 — 1-951-684-4250 | Hours not cleanly extracted from the partner page — call before visiting | Member use only — the whole point of this entry, stated first, not in a footnote. From its own dmv.ca.gov partner page. AAA branches are member-only for DMV services, so never present AAA as a walk-in option for non-members. Registration-type work only |
| Platinum Services 10800 Hole Avenue 3, Riverside, CA 92505 — 1-951-343-3408 | Mon–Fri 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM | West-side Riverside partner, late-opening (10:00 am) and weekday-only. From the LG Registration Service nearby list on dmv.ca.gov; its own partner page confirms the address and phone |
| Elizabeths Insurance Services; Inc 2878 Campus Parkway Suite C3, Riverside, CA 92507 — 1-951-924-5300 | Hours not verified on dmv.ca.gov — call before visiting | Same 92507 ZIP as the office, on the Canyon Crest side. From its own dmv.ca.gov partner page. Name, address, and phone only — no invented hours |
| LG Registration Service — Magnolia Avenue 10832 Hole Avenue, Riverside, CA 92505 | Hours and phone not captured in this check — call first | From its own dmv.ca.gov partner page. Address only on this page — no invented phone number, no invented hours |
| Daisy’s Auto Registration 24035 Sunnymead Boulevard Suite D, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 — 1-951-242-9900 | Hours not verified on dmv.ca.gov — call before visiting | Address conflict, stated plainly: dmv.ca.gov’s partner listing gives 24035 Sunnymead Boulevard Suite D, Moreno Valley, while the business’s own directory listing gives 13800 Heacock Street #C128, Moreno Valley. This page prints the dmv.ca.gov address and phone with a call-first caution, and never prints the directory hours as DMV hours |
| AutoPublic Insurance Services — Indian Circle (Perris) 546 Indian Circle Suite A, Perris, CA 92570 — 1-951-443-0015 | Hours not verified on dmv.ca.gov — call before visiting | The Perris option for registration-type help — a private partner, NOT a Perris DMV office, because there is none (section 10). From its own dmv.ca.gov partner page |
| Valley Services MV (Moreno Valley) 14300 Elsworth Street 101, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 — 1-951-656-4320 | dmv.ca.gov shows closed for every day in the printed window — call before visiting | Anomaly, stated honestly: its dmv.ca.gov calendar shows “closed” for every single day November 1–14, 2026, all fourteen days including weekdays. That reads as a data quirk or a closed listing, not real hours — the same “closed all fortnight” pattern recorded for partners on other office builds. Name, address, and phone only; never present “closed” as opening hours, and never invent hours for it |
Partners NOT on any official list, mentioned only to prevent import errors: commercial “DMV Registration Services Riverside” sites and directory listings (dmv.org finder pages, dmvnearme-style pages, nodmvlines.com) are commercial or directory content only, not dmv.ca.gov-verified partner pages in this check — do not present them as DMV partners. The clearest example is the “Perris DMV & Car Insurance Services” business (802 Navajo Road, Perris) — a private insurance and registration business, not a DMV field office and not verified as a dmv.ca.gov partner. The pattern for partners everywhere is the same: partners = vehicle paperwork; the field office = everything involving you (licenses, permits, tests, REAL ID). Match your task to the right counter before you go, and never pay a partner a “booking fee” for an office appointment — booking on dmv.ca.gov is free.
9Nearby DMV offices: the Inland Empire decision table
Every field office below runs the same weekly pattern (Monday–Tuesday 8–5, Wednesday 9–5, Thursday–Friday 8–5, Saturday–Sunday closed) and the same six payment methods, and each was verified on its own dmv.ca.gov page on November 6, 2026. The hours sameness is itself a finding: a reader cannot pick between these offices on hours, so the comparison below turns on kiosk availability and geography instead. The decision is never an invented wait-time ranking. The drive distances and times are driving routes computed with the OSRM routing engine on November 6, 2026, from one stated origin — the Riverside East office itself, at dmv.ca.gov’s exact coordinates (33.934517, −117.299128), 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard — to each office’s official address. They are free-flow estimates (no traffic) for a typical drive, and traffic on the I-215 / SR-60 corridor changes these times sharply at rush hour — this page says so, and never presents a drive time as a promise. No straight-line (“as the crow flies”) distances are printed, because nobody drives as the crow flies — and the rival pages that print straight-line figures are the reason readers underestimate the drive.
| Office | Address & kiosk | Drive from Riverside East (OSRM, Nov 6, 2026) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riverside East (this office) | 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92507 — kiosk on site | — | The east side, Moreno Valley, UC Riverside, and March Air Reserve Base; the default choice; drive tests and REAL ID here, plus an on-site kiosk and the grocery-store kiosks in section 7 |
| Riverside (the OTHER Riverside office) | 6280 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506 — kiosk on site | 8.3 mi / ~17 min | The downtown / Magnolia Center fallback — the first fallback when Riverside East is booked out, and the closer office for the west side of the city. Same nine services, same hours. Check WHICH Riverside office your appointment is at — the two names are one word apart. Our own Riverside DMV guide covers it |
| Redlands | 1659 W Lugonia Avenue, Redlands, CA 92374 — NO kiosk | 17.3 mi / ~24 min | The northeast fallback — a full-service counter without a kiosk. Its own dmv.ca.gov page carries no kiosk banner and its services list has no “Self Service Terminals” entry, which makes Redlands the only office in this table without one. Use a grocery kiosk for renewals instead (Vons Yucaipa, Ralphs San Bernardino, Superior Grocers San Bernardino) |
| San Bernardino | 1310 N Waterman Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92404 — kiosk on site | 17.3 mi / ~24 min | The north fallback, up I-215. Full nine services, kiosk on site. San Bernardino is the county seat of San Bernardino County, a different county from Riverside County — worth knowing if your errand touches county paperwork |
| Fontana | 8026 Hemlock Avenue, Fontana, CA 92336 — kiosk on site | 19.8 mi / ~30 min | The northwest fallback. Full nine services, kiosk on site. Our own Fontana DMV guide covers it — including the two-doors trap in the note below. Do not confuse it with the Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center at 10207 Poplar Avenue, which is not a public counter |
| Norco | 3201 Horseless Carriage Drive, Norco, CA 92860 — kiosk on site | 21.4 mi / ~34 min | The west fallback, on SR-60. Full nine services, kiosk on site |
| Rancho Cucamonga | 8629 Hellman Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 — kiosk on site | 25.0 mi / ~34 min | The northwest fallback. Full nine services, kiosk on site. Note the address: 8629 Hellman Avenue, NOT the 9495 Haven Avenue that some directories show for the area — verified on the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page |
| Hemet | 1200 S State Street, Hemet, CA 92543 — kiosk on site | 28.8 mi / ~42 min | The southeast fallback — the farthest of the close cluster, via Gilman Springs Road / SR-79. Only worth it when the Riverside offices show nothing and the northern direction is worse for your day |
| Pomona | 1600 S Garey Avenue, Pomona, CA 91766 — kiosk on site | 30.2 mi / ~38 min | The far west fallback, in Los Angeles County, not Riverside County — the farthest fallback, worth it only when every Inland Empire office shows nothing. Our own Pomona DMV guide covers it |
Three disambiguations save real trips. First, Riverside has two verified field offices in this research: Riverside East (6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard) and Riverside (6280 Brockton Avenue). Searches for other Riverside office names all resolve to one of these two, so this page does not invent a third Riverside office. Second, Redlands is the exception that proves the table was built office by office: every other field office in the table carries the kiosk double signal (callout + Self Service Terminals), and Redlands carries neither on its own page. Either it genuinely has no on-site self-service terminal, or its page omits one — either way, this page does not claim a Redlands kiosk, and phrases the comparison as “Redlands’ official listing does not show a self-service terminal, while Riverside East’s does.” Third, the two same-address-style traps — not public counters. The San Bernardino Industry Business Center (473 East Carnegie Drive, Suite 125, San Bernardino, CA 92408) runs Monday–Tuesday 7:00 am–4:00 pm, Wednesday 8:00 am–4:00 pm, Thursday–Friday 7:00 am–4:00 pm, Saturday–Sunday closed; dmv.ca.gov describes its Service Centers as providing “business services to vehicle industry customers.” It appears in the Riverside East page’s own nearby list, labelled plain “DMV Field Office” with no kiosk badge — general-public readers must use the San Bernardino field-office entry (1310 N Waterman Avenue, 92404), not the IBC entry. Note the hours difference too: the IBC opens at 7:00 am and closes at 4:00 pm, an hour earlier on both ends than the field office — another signal it is a different kind of door. The Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center (10207 Poplar Avenue, Fontana, CA 92335) runs the same 7:00 am–4:00 pm pattern and is a commercial drive-test centre, not a public counter for licences, REAL ID, registration, or title work; general-public readers must use the Fontana field-office entry (8026 Hemlock Avenue, 92336). Do not present either listing as a second public office in its city. One more DMV display inconsistency, flagged and not resolved: the nearby-office cards on dmv.ca.gov render several of these offices as “Wed closed,” while each office’s own date calendar shows Wednesday 9:00 am–5:00 pm. This page prints the calendars’ answer for every office in the table and does not copy the cards’ “Wed closed” line anywhere. Landmark drives from Riverside East, same OSRM method and date: Moreno Valley City Hall 3.3 mi / ~7 min (reverse direction 4.0 mi — one-way routing differs slightly, so print the outbound figure with this note, never both as if they were two different distances); Moreno Valley Mall 2.2 mi / ~6 min; UC Riverside main entrance 4.7 mi / ~11 min; March Air Reserve Base main gate 4.9 mi / ~10 min. Readers starting elsewhere in Riverside should adjust: the city’s west side is closer to the Brockton office, the east side closer to Riverside East.
10No DMV office in Moreno Valley, Perris, Corona, Colton, Rialto, Beaumont, Banning, Yucaipa, or Loma Linda
Every URL in this table was checked on dmv.ca.gov on November 6, 2026, with Riverside East, Riverside, Redlands, San Bernardino, Fontana, Norco, Rancho Cucamonga, Hemet, and Pomona run as controls in the same pass (all returned their office pages). A missing field-office page on dmv.ca.gov is the evidence: the DMV has no field office for that city, and no field office may be printed for it.
| City with NO field office | What it actually has (official lists) | Where its residents go |
|---|---|---|
| Moreno Valley | Two DMV kiosks in town (Food 4 Less, 24440 Alessandro Boulevard, daily 6:00 AM–12:00 AM; Superior Grocers, 23857 Sunnymead Boulevard, daily 7:00 AM–10:00 PM) — kiosks, not an office; plus the Daisy’s Auto Registration and Valley Services MV partners | Riverside East first (3.3 mi / ~7 min from City Hall) — the nearest full-service office — then Riverside (Brockton Avenue). Our own Moreno Valley DMV guide is the phantom guide for this city, and it links forward to this page |
| Perris | The AutoPublic Insurance Services partner on Indian Circle — a partner, not an office | Riverside East or Riverside for field-office business; the AutoPublic partner for registration-type work only |
| Corona | No field office on the lists checked; kiosks and partners only | Riverside East, Riverside, or Norco for field-office business |
| Colton | No field office on the lists checked | San Bernardino or Redlands for field-office business |
| Rialto | No field office on the lists checked | San Bernardino or Fontana for field-office business |
| Beaumont | No field office on the lists checked | Redlands or Riverside East for field-office business |
| Banning | No field office on the lists checked | Redlands or Riverside East for field-office business |
| Yucaipa | A DMV kiosk inside Vons (33644 Yucaipa Boulevard, daily 5:00 AM–12:00 AM) — a kiosk, not an office | Redlands for field-office business; the Vons kiosk for registration-type tasks |
| Loma Linda | No field office on the lists checked | Redlands or San Bernardino for field-office business |
The directory warning applies across the table: third-party directories recycle addresses and hours without a verification date, and the only cure is checking dmv.ca.gov. If a directory gives you an office street address for any city in the table, treat it as unverified directory data, not an official office. “Moreno Valley DMV,” “Perris DMV,” and “Corona DMV” are plausible searches with no official office behind them, and a page that says “there is no DMV field office in [town] — the nearest verified offices are X and Y” serves those searches honestly and earns the correction traffic that directory sites lose by inventing listings. “Moreno Valley DMV” is the one that matters most: a city of 208,634 people whose residents would reasonably expect a DMV, served, on current official evidence, by Riverside East first. Menifee, Lake Elsinore, San Jacinto, and Banning readers also use these offices because their own cities have no field office — frame that only as nearby cities whose residents use these offices on geographic adjacency, never as measured catchment data.
11Best time to visit — what to bring — and getting there without a car
- Best: an appointment at any hour beats a walk-in at any hour. Within the week, the 8:00 AM opening is the calmest structural window — except on Wednesdays, when the office opens at 9:00 AM, not 8:00.
- Good: mid-afternoon on a weekday, after the lunch period clears — stated as general timing sense, not as a Riverside East crowd measurement, because no Riverside East crowd data was verified.
- Worst (structural, not measured): Mondays and Fridays, the first and last days of the month, and days right after a holiday are the standard DMV peak pattern everywhere — and this page labels that as the standard pattern, not as a Riverside East measurement, because no Riverside East wait-time data exists on the official page.
- Wednesday quirk: the office opens at 9:00 AM, not 8:00 — do not show up at 8:00 expecting the early-bird advantage. This is the single most repeated warning on this page, because it is the single most common avoidable mistake. The other Wednesday warning is the calendar one: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is closed entirely for Veterans Day.
- When Riverside East is full: check Riverside (Brockton Avenue) first (same hours pattern, same nine services, 17 minutes west), then Redlands or San Bernardino, in the same search — and check back for cancellations. If your task is a renewal or a record copy, the Ralphs kiosk at Canyon Crest (open 5:00 am–1:00 am, seven days a week) beats any office queue, including on weekends when the office is closed.
Missing paperwork is the most expensive mistake at a busy office — it turns one visit into two, and in a one-office catchment a second trip hurts more. The rules are the same here as everywhere in California:
- Originals only. The DMV accepts original documents or certified copies — never photocopies.
- REAL ID visits: a first REAL ID needs an in-person visit with original documents. Check the DMV’s published REAL ID documents list before you go, and start the application online first for a confirmation code. REAL ID is issued at the field office, not at a kiosk and not by a partner. Details in our REAL ID appointment guide.
- Registration and title visits: your current registration card, the signed title or transfer paperwork, and smog documentation if applicable. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification at the office.
- Partner visits: ask the fee first, and bring the registration paperwork the partner needs — partners handle registration-type work only, and AAA branches are member use only.
- Drive tests: the car’s valid registration and proof of insurance, your permit, and your licensed accompanying driver.
Run through our DMV documents checklist the night before — it is the difference between one trip and two. And the night-before check that costs nothing: confirm the office’s hours on its dmv.ca.gov page, especially on Wednesdays (9:00 AM opening) and around state holidays.
On transit, this page makes only the claims it can stand behind, at planner-check level. Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) serves the Sycamore Canyon corridor: RTA is the public bus agency for western Riverside County, with 35 bus routes, operating since 1975, covering Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, Menifee, Hemet, Temecula, and the rest of the western county. Route 16 runs UC Riverside to Moreno Valley via Sycamore Canyon and Day — the corridor the office sits on — and interlines with Route 19 at Moreno Valley Mall. UC Riverside students ride RTA fixed-route buses for free with a valid student ID — unlimited free rides anywhere RTA goes, any time it operates — which makes Route 16 a real option for the UCR permit-test and first-licence crowd, not just a line on a map. That is the extent of the firm bus claim on this page, and it is stated at planner-check level on purpose: no source verifies a specific bus stop’s walking distance to 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, so this page prints no “get off at this stop, walk this many minutes” instruction, no timetable, and no frequency for Route 16 or any other route. Use RTA’s trip planner at riversidetransit.com or call the RTA Customer Information Center at 951-565-5002 and check the stop for 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard before you travel. Metrolink serves Riverside, not the office door: the Riverside–Downtown Metrolink station and the Moreno Valley / March Field Station (91 / Perris Valley Line) are rail facts, not office-trip claims — no source in this check connects either station to a trip to 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, so the page makes no rail-to-office claim at all. A reader coming by train would still need a bus or rideshare for the last leg — say so, and send them to the RTA trip planner. Driving, the office sits in the Sycamore Canyon / Canyon Springs area of east Riverside — and this page gives no exit number and no turn-by-turn directions, because none was verified for this office specifically.
On parking, this page makes no claim at all — deliberately. No official or credible source describes the 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard office’s lot, its capacity, its street parking, or its accessibility spaces, so this page does not assert “free parking,” a “large lot,” or any parking-difficulty claim. Do not import a parking description from another office’s directory page. The only safe advice is generic: arrive early and allow time to park, and remember that an appointment moves you through far faster than the walk-in line regardless of lot conditions. If traffic is your concern, the grocery-store kiosks are the real answer for anything they cover: the Ralphs kiosk at Canyon Crest is open 5:00 am–1:00 am, seven days a week, and traffic-proof for kiosk-eligible tasks.
12Why this office matters: the east side’s DMV, and the errors the internet makes about it
Riverside East is the field office for Riverside’s east side and for the two large audiences that have no office of their own, Moreno Valley and UC Riverside — and it is the office most likely to be misdescribed online, because Riverside has two offices with almost the same name and because Moreno Valley’s 208,634 residents keep searching for an office their city does not have. That is why a single Sycamore Canyon office carries such a wide catchment, and why the errors about it matter more than they would for a small-town office. The search results for “Riverside East DMV” mislead in eight quiet ways. First, the two-office confusion — directory pages that say “Riverside DMV” without an address are ambiguous between 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard and 6280 Brockton Avenue, and their hours, services, and reviews bleed from one building to the other. Check the street before you drive. Second, the Saturday opening — one rival page claims the Brockton Avenue office “does provide services on Saturdays.” That is wrong for every California field office: Saturday and Sunday are closed, and the Saturday answer for a registration task is the Canyon Crest Ralphs kiosk, open 5:00 am–1:00 am daily. Third, the invented commercial test centre — the same rival page invents a “Riverside East Commercial Testing Center.” No such place exists; the commercial drive-test centre in this cluster is the Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center, and it is not a public counter. Fourth, unverified testing tags — one competitor lists this office as offering a motorcycle skills test and a CDL test, and then marks CDL test as not offered in its own comparison table, while its comparison table claims motorcycle testing for Riverside East but not for Riverside (Brockton) and its own Riverside page claims the opposite pattern. Neither claim appears on the official Riverside East page, which lists only the category “Testing,” and this page repeats neither, in either direction. Fifth, the borrowed rating — Google’s knowledge panel shows a 2.8-star rating with 291 reviews that belongs to the Brockton Avenue office, not to Riverside East, and directory sites repeat it against the wrong building. A rating is not an office fact, and this page prints no review numbers at all. Sixth, invented wait-time tables — one rival page ranks Riverside East as having “relatively shorter wait times” with no source, and directory reviews quote individual visit lengths (“in and out in less than 30 minutes, with no appointment”) as if they were a statistic. The live wait display changes hourly, and any snapshot quoted as a statistic goes stale within the hour. This page prints no wait-time minutes at all. Seventh, the “call the Riverside East office directly” framing — directories that print the statewide 1-800-777-0133 against the office name as if it were a local number; it is the statewide line, every time it appears on this page. Add the eighth, quietest error: straight-line distances — rival pages print straight-line figures between offices (one prints 6.4 miles from the middle of town to Riverside East) and label them as if they were drives. Nobody drives as the crow flies: the office-to-office drive from Riverside East to Brockton Avenue is 8.3 miles by the routing run for this page, not 6.4. The fix is boring and it is the whole point of this page: the correct address, 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard; the correct hours, Monday to Friday with a 9:00 am Wednesday open; the correct county picture, one office serving Moreno Valley, which has none; the correct kiosk answer, yes, inside the office, plus ten more kiosks in the cluster; and the correct Saturday answer, closed, with the grocery-store kiosks as the Saturday fallback. Check the address, check the day, book before you drive — and if your errand is a renewal, use the kiosk and do not wait in the counter line at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Riverside DMV and Riverside East DMV?
They are two different field offices in the same city, with the same hours and the same nine services. Riverside East is at 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92507, on the city’s east side. Riverside is at 6280 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506, in the downtown / Magnolia Center area. The two buildings are 8.3 miles apart, about a seventeen-minute drive. Check the street on your appointment confirmation before you drive — the scheduler lists both offices, and picking the wrong one sends you across town. Our own Riverside DMV guide covers the Brockton Avenue office.
Is Riverside East DMV open on Saturday?
No. Saturday and Sunday are closed on the current official listing. This directly contradicts directory content that claims Saturday hours for a Riverside office — one rival page claims the Brockton Avenue office “does provide services on Saturdays,” and that is wrong for every California field office. If you need a Saturday transaction, use a kiosk (section 7) for a registration-type task — the Ralphs kiosk at Canyon Crest is open Mon–Sun 5:00 AM–1:00 AM; a Saturday field-office visit is not an option. The one historical exception: Riverside East opened special Saturday hours (8:00 am–1:00 pm, appointment-only) on May 10, 2025 for the REAL ID rush. That was a one-day event, not a recurring opening.
Do I need an appointment at Riverside East DMV — and can I walk in?
Book first. Appointments are free on the official DMV scheduler, and an appointment beats a walk-in at any hour. Walk-ins are possible for most counter services, but appointments are served first and walk-ins use the same-day Get in Line queue — and this page promises no same-day availability and no blanket walk-in policy. The one exception is the behind-the-wheel drive test, which is appointment-only. Choose your appointment type carefully: a field-office visit and a behind-the-wheel drive test are handled as separate appointment types in the scheduler, so booking the wrong type means rebooking. Routine renewals, records, and replacements get no counter service at all — do them online, at a kiosk, with a partner, or by mail. If you go without an appointment, check the official office page on the morning of your visit, and bring everything on our documents checklist so you do not burn a second trip.
Which DMV office is closest to Moreno Valley?
Riverside East. Moreno Valley has no DMV field office of its own — its dmv.ca.gov office slug returns a “Page not found” — and Riverside East is the nearest full-service office: 3.3 miles, about seven minutes, from Moreno Valley City Hall by the routing run for this page. The next options are Riverside (Brockton Avenue), then Redlands or San Bernardino. For registration-type tasks, Moreno Valley residents also have two in-town kiosks (Food 4 Less on Alessandro Boulevard and Superior Grocers on Sunnymead Boulevard) and the Daisy’s Auto Registration partner. Our own Moreno Valley DMV guide is the phantom guide for the city, with the full kiosk and partner picture.
Which DMV office is closest to UC Riverside?
Riverside East — 4.7 miles, about eleven minutes, from the campus main entrance, in the same 92507 ZIP as the campus’s Canyon Crest side. UC Riverside students also ride RTA fixed-route buses for free with a valid student ID, and RTA Route 16 runs UC Riverside to Moreno Valley via Sycamore Canyon and Day, the corridor the office sits on. Use the RTA trip planner at riversidetransit.com and check the stop for 6425 Sycamore Canyon Boulevard before you travel — this page prints no stop-level claim. First licences and permit tests are the real UCR use case here; note that the knowledge test is not given after 4:30 PM, so do not book the last slot of the day for a permit test.
Does Riverside East DMV have a kiosk on site?
Yes — and the evidence is double-confirmed on the office’s own page: the callout “This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line” and “Self Service Terminals” in the official services list, plus its own kiosk page on dmv.ca.gov. Kiosks are self-serve stations for certain registration services and driver or vehicle records, and the range of services varies by kiosk location. They do not issue licenses, run tests, or process REAL ID. There are also ten more kiosks in the cluster (section 7) — three in Riverside grocery stores, two in Moreno Valley, and five in the fallback-office cities — for weekend and late-night registration tasks. The on-site kiosk keeps office hours, so it is no help on a weekend; the Canyon Crest Ralphs kiosk is open 5:00 am–1:00 am daily.
Can I take my driving test at Riverside East — and do they do motorcycle tests?
The official page lists “Testing” among its services but does not specify which tests this office offers, and third-party sites disagree about motorcycle and CDL testing here — one competitor claims motorcycle and CDL tests and then marks CDL test as not offered in its own comparison table. What is certain statewide: a behind-the-wheel drive test always requires a booked appointment (no walk-ins), made through dmv.ca.gov, and it is a separate appointment type from a general office visit. Check the appointment system for this office’s drive-test, motorcycle-test, and CDL-test availability before you go — do not assume. Test-day preparation, the pre-drive check, and the examiner skill set are in section 5 and our driving test appointment guide.
Can I get a REAL ID at Riverside East, and what should I bring?
Yes — a first REAL ID must be done in person at a field office, and Riverside East does it. Bring one identity document (original or certified copy — for example a U.S. passport or certified birth certificate), one proof of Social Security number (full number, no photocopies — for example a Social Security card, W-2, or paystub), and two different printed proofs of California residency, plus certified name-change documents if your name has changed. A first REAL ID cannot be done at a kiosk or by a partner. Start the application online first for a confirmation code, and book an appointment — the document check takes longer than a simple renewal. The full document list is in section 6, from the DMV’s official REAL ID document list (form DL 1010E).
Is Riverside East closed on Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11, 2026)?
Yes — closed Wednesday, November 11, 2026 for Veterans Day, like all California DMV field offices. The closure is confirmed by this office’s own two-week calendar, which shows Wednesday, November 11 as closed, and by the DMV’s banner on every office page. It reopens Thursday, November 12 at 8:00 AM. If you are planning a visit for that week, book Thursday, November 12 or Friday, November 13 instead. Note the trap: the nearby-office cards on dmv.ca.gov render this office as “Wed closed” this week because the coming Wednesday IS the holiday — Wednesdays in general are 9:00 am–5:00 pm, and the office’s own calendar proves it (Wednesday, November 4: 9:00 am–5:00 pm).
Why does Redlands have no kiosk when the other offices do?
Redlands’ own dmv.ca.gov page carries no kiosk banner and its services list has no “Self Service Terminals” entry, while every other office in the section 9 table carries both signals. Either Redlands genuinely has no on-site self-service terminal, or its page omits one — either way, this page does not claim a Redlands kiosk. Redlands is still a full-service office with eight service categories, so a drive test, a REAL ID, or a title transfer works there; for a renewal, use a grocery kiosk instead (Vons Yucaipa, Ralphs San Bernardino, or Superior Grocers San Bernardino). A drive test does not need a kiosk, so do not rule Redlands out for a test on kiosk grounds.
What is the San Bernardino IBC / Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center — can I go there instead?
No — neither is a public counter. The San Bernardino Industry Business Center (473 East Carnegie Drive, Suite 125, San Bernardino) provides business services to vehicle-industry customers, runs 7:00 am–4:00 pm, and is not a walk-in licensing office; use the San Bernardino field office at 1310 N Waterman Avenue instead. The Fontana Commercial Drive Test Center (10207 Poplar Avenue, Fontana) is a commercial drive-test centre, also 7:00 am–4:00 pm, and does not do licences, REAL ID, registration, or title work for the general public; use the Fontana field office at 8026 Hemlock Avenue instead. Both appear in the Riverside East page’s own nearby list labelled plain “DMV Field Office,” which is why this page names them explicitly. There is also no “Riverside East Commercial Testing Center” — that name is invented by a rival page.
Is there a DMV office in Corona, Perris, or Moreno Valley — and if not, where do I go?
No — none of the three has a DMV field office. Each city’s dmv.ca.gov office slug returns a “Page not found,” verified November 6, 2026. Corona readers use Riverside East, Riverside, or Norco. Perris readers use Riverside East or Riverside, with the AutoPublic Insurance Services partner on Indian Circle for registration-type help. Moreno Valley readers use Riverside East first (3.3 miles / ~7 minutes from City Hall), then Riverside (Brockton Avenue), with two in-town kiosks for renewals and records. The same “no office” answer applies to Colton, Rialto, Beaumont, Banning, Yucaipa, and Loma Linda — the full table, with where each city’s residents go, is in section 10.

Book Before You Drive to Sycamore Canyon Boulevard
Riverside East is open five days a week, but its appointment book carries all of the east side, Moreno Valley, UC Riverside, and March Air Reserve Base — and Wednesday opens at 9:00 am, not 8:00, and Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is closed for Veterans Day. Check the day, check which Riverside office you booked, book on dmv.ca.gov before you drive, and if your errand is a renewal or a record, use the kiosk inside the office, the grocery-store kiosks, or dmv.ca.gov instead of waiting in the counter line.
