West Covina DMV: Hours, Services & Appointment Guide

The full-service DMV field office for the whole central San Gabriel Valley — nine counter services, an on-site self-service kiosk, and behind-the-wheel drive tests at 800 So Glendora Avenue. And the warning that matters most in this valley: eleven nearby cities have NO field office of their own, yet directories keep implying they do — and one ranking guide prints a flatly wrong West Covina address, Saturday hours that do not exist, and an invented wait-time table. This page separates the real office from the phantom ones first, before anything else, because every wasted trip in the San Gabriel Valley starts with the wrong address, the wrong day, or the wrong kind of building. Independent guide, verified against dmv.ca.gov.

800 So Glendora Avenue, West Covina, CA 91790
Los Angeles County — central San Gabriel Valley anchor office with an on-site kiosk · the office for West Covina, Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Walnut, Glendora and the whole central valley

1The central San Gabriel Valley anchor — and the wrong addresses that waste trips

West Covina is the full-service anchor of the central San Gabriel Valley, and that single fact is the whole point of this page. The West Covina field office is at 800 So Glendora Avenue, West Covina, CA 91790: a full-service office with nine services, an on-site self-service kiosk, and standard field-office hours (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday closed). It is the office for West Covina itself and — because the valley around it has so few offices — the de facto office for Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Walnut, Glendora, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente, none of which has a field office of its own. That is a large, car-dependent population served by one full-service office, and the comparison in section 4 is the release valve for the days this office shows nothing.

The first correction on this page is the address itself, because one ranking guide gets it flatly wrong. An AI-written guide titled “Navigating the West Covina DMV” prints the office at “16001 Valley Blvd, West Covina, CA 91636” — there is no DMV office at that address, and 91636 is not even a West Covina ZIP code. The real office is at 800 So Glendora Avenue, on Glendora Avenue just south of Garvey Avenue. The same guide compounds the error with invented Saturday hours (“Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm”) — West Covina is closed every Saturday — and an invented wait-time table by time of day plus a claim of “over 1,500 transactions processed daily,” none of which is verified anywhere. If a page sends you to Valley Boulevard on a Saturday, it has sent you to an address that does not exist, on a day the office is closed, with numbers nobody measured. The correct address is 800 So Glendora Avenue, and the correct hours are in section 2.

The second correction is the late-opening day, because a second ranking directory gets it wrong in the other direction. One directory prints “Tuesday opens later (9:00 AM) statewide” and a Tuesday-9am hours table for West Covina. That is flatly wrong: the late opening is Wednesday, not Tuesday. Every California field office opens at 9:00 AM on Wednesday and 8:00 AM on every other weekday. A reader who arrives at 8:00 AM on Wednesday finds a closed office; a reader who arrives at 9:00 AM on Tuesday has already waited an hour for nothing. The office’s own dmv.ca.gov calendar for November 1–14, 2026 prints the pattern plainly — Wednesday November 4 at 9am–5pm, every other weekday 8am–5pm — and this page states it prominently for exactly that reason.

The third correction is bigger than one address: eleven nearby cities have no DMV field office at all. Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente all return “Page not found” on dmv.ca.gov’s own field-office directory — verified on build day, November 2, 2026, by a direct sweep of every one of those slugs. Covina is the most useful correction of the eleven: it is a large city, and readers routinely search “Covina DMV” expecting an office that does not exist. Covina’s DMV presence is a grocery kiosk (Superior Grocers, 1375 N. Citrus Ave.) plus the LA Metro IBC — which is an industry business center, not a public counter — and Covina readers use West Covina for office business. Baldwin Park readers use West Covina plus the Superior Grocers kiosk on Ramona Boulevard. Azusa readers use West Covina. If a directory sends you to a “DMV office” in any of these eleven cities, it has sent you somewhere that does not exist. The full list, with what each city actually has instead, is in section 4.

The fourth correction is the one that makes this page different from every sibling office page in this series: El Monte HAS a field office, but it runs only eight services with NO kiosk. El Monte is the closest alternative to West Covina — 7.1 miles, about 11 minutes — and it is the trap office of this cluster. Its own dmv.ca.gov page carries no kiosk headline and its services list has no “Self Service Terminals” entry. A reader who drives to El Monte for a kiosk task will find no kiosk. The cure is the Superior Grocers kiosk on Valley Boulevard in El Monte, not the El Monte field office. Every other nearby office in the comparison table runs the full nine services with a kiosk on site. West Covina itself runs the full nine with a kiosk — but it has NO grocery kiosk inside city limits on the official nearby list, and NO Metrolink station inside city limits either. The nearest grocery kiosks are Baldwin Park and Covina, both open daily to 10:00 PM; the nearest San Bernardino Line stations are Covina and Baldwin Park. Do not let any page imply otherwise.

Why does one office carry this much demand? West Covina is a city of 109,501 people at the 2020 census — the 11th-largest city in Los Angeles County and the 65th largest in California — incorporated on February 17, 1923, in the central San Gabriel Valley about 19 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, covering 10,282 acres (about 16 square miles). Plaza West Covina, opened in 1962, made the city a regional retail centre, and the office on Glendora Avenue sits at the centre of that retail gravity. That is a large, spread-out, car-dependent population — a commuter valley, a retail hub, and eleven no-office cities — served by a single full-service field office at 800 So Glendora Avenue. One freshness note no competitor carries: this office closed May 1, 2026 for painting and the installation of new flooring and reopened at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, per a DMV press release — the office is fully open now, refurbished. The rest of this page is the map for using it well and for knowing where to go when it shows nothing.

2Hours, services & the dates to avoid

The weekly pattern is the standard California field-office pattern, confirmed on the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page (which prints a two-week calendar, November 1–14, 2026, showing the same pattern):

DayHours
Monday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Tuesday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Wednesday9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (opens one hour late)
Thursday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday – SundayClosed

The Wednesday quirk is the detail that catches the most people: every other weekday opens at 8:00 AM, but Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM. Do not show up at 8:00 on a Wednesday expecting the early-bird advantage — you will wait outside for an hour. Weekends are closed, full stop. No California DMV field office lists Saturday hours, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for West Covina — including the guide that prints “Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm” and any page that prints kiosk hours as office hours. The Ralphs kiosk in Temple City runs 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM daily, and the Superior Grocers kiosks in Baldwin Park and Covina run 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily; those are the kiosks’ hours, not the office’s, and the office is closed every weekend. There are date-specific exceptions in the near term, and they are the date warnings on this page: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is CLOSED — Veterans Day, a state holiday, printed as “closed” on the office’s own November 1–14 calendar and on the DMV’s official holidays list. Do not plan a Wednesday-November-11 visit; Thursday November 12 reopens at 8:00 AM. Thursday, November 26, 2026 (Thanksgiving Day) is CLOSED, and Friday, November 27, 2026 (the day after Thanksgiving) is CLOSED as well, per the same official holidays list. Friday, December 25, 2026 (Christmas Day) is CLOSED, and Friday, January 1, 2027 (New Year’s Day) is CLOSED. Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24) and New Year’s Eve (Thursday, December 31) are NOT closure days — normal hours apply. Do not copy the federal holiday calendar onto the DMV: Juneteenth and Columbus Day are NOT on the DMV holidays list. State holidays can change hours at other times of year too, so confirm on the official office page the day before you go — see our California DMV holidays guide. And one timing rule that applies statewide: knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered after 4:30 PM, so do not book the last slot of the day and expect to test.

The office provides nine services, exactly as listed on dmv.ca.gov — and the ninth is what sets it apart from the closest office in this cluster. Unlike El Monte (eight services, no kiosk), the West Covina field office’s own page carries the headline “This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line,” and its services list includes Self Service Terminals as the ninth item.

Service (official list)What it means for your visit
Licensing ServicesDriver licenses (new, renewal, replacement), ID cards, and REAL ID applications. REAL ID first applications require an in-person office visit with original documents — this is the single biggest reason people still visit in person. Start the application online first for a confirmation code; it shortens counter time. California also issues driver licenses regardless of immigration status (AB 60), accepting a foreign passport or matrícula consular as identity, with those cards marked “Federal Limits Apply.”
TestingKnowledge (written) tests and behind-the-wheel drive tests, booked as separate appointment types in the official scheduler. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for this office on its official page — check the scheduler rather than assuming it. “Testing” is listed generically, with no breakout.
Title TransfersPrivate-party sales, family transfers, and out-of-state titles. Bring the signed title, smog certification where required, and odometer disclosure. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification (REG 31) at the office.
RegistrationNew vehicle registrations, renewals that cannot be completed online, and planned non-operation (PNO) filings for vehicles going into storage. Simple registration renewals are often kiosk or online tasks instead — check the kiosk section before booking.
Plates, Permits, & PlacardsReplacement license plates, temporary operating permits, and disabled person placards. Disabled placard applications are one of the few counter services with no online substitute — bring the medical certification form completed by a licensed medical professional.
Replace Lost/Stolen/DamagedDuplicate driver licenses, registration cards, and vehicle titles when the original is lost, stolen, or damaged.
RecordsDriver and vehicle record requests. Note that simple record-copy requests are handled through out-of-office options in many cases — check eligibility before visiting.
Request miscellaneous original documentsLess common document requests handled at the counter for paperwork outside the standard categories.
Self Service TerminalsThe on-site self-service kiosk — registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records without a counter visit, during office hours. This is what makes West Covina different from El Monte (no on-site kiosk). Note the office-page kiosk line “open daily” describes grocery kiosks; the on-site field-office kiosk follows office hours — weekdays only, closed weekends and November 11.

Payment is the same statewide line printed on the office page: the DMV accepts cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order at field offices. The statewide phone line for everything is 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; TTY 1-800-368-4327). No office-specific phone number is published for West Covina — any “direct West Covina DMV number” from a directory is unverified, so use the statewide line. One search-result place card attaches a different number to this address — that is third-party place data, not a dmv.ca.gov fact, and it is not printed here. This page deliberately prints no fee dollar amounts: fee line items change and are gated until re-verified on dmv.ca.gov at build time, and the one figure that is safe to state is that booking itself is free.

One more scope rule before you book, because it saves more trips than any other paragraph on this page: routine services get no counter service at all. Simple registration renewals, eligible license and ID renewals, record copies, and replacement licenses are routed by the DMV to online, kiosk, mail, or phone options — the counter will not do them. Before driving to Glendora Avenue, check whether your task is actually an office task. The West Covina office page itself lists the tasks completable online with the DMV or a DMV-authorized partner: renew your vehicle registration; renew your driver’s license or ID card; driver’s license or ID card application (start online for a confirmation code — REAL ID first applications still need the in-person visit with originals); change your address; Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability; request a replacement driver’s license; special-interest or personalized plates; and request your driver’s record. If your task is on that list and needs no in-person step, do it online first. If it is a REAL ID, a first license, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the office.

3Booking an appointment here

Booking happens only on the DMV’s official scheduler, and it is free. Here is the play for a West Covina visit:

  1. Go to the official DMV appointment scheduler (“Schedule an Appointment” on dmv.ca.gov).
  2. Choose your appointment type FIRST. This is the highest-value sentence in this section: a field-office visit and a behind-the-wheel drive test are separate appointment types in the official scheduler, with separate queues. Booking the wrong type means rebooking. Pick “office visit” for licenses, ID, registration, and most counter services; pick “drive test” for the road test. Drive tests are appointment-only — there is no walk-in path for them.
  3. Search by ZIP (91790) or “West Covina” and pick the Glendora Avenue office — not a partner address, not a kiosk address, and not the LA Metro IBC in Covina, none of which takes appointments. Watch the address traps, because they are real in this valley: the American Power Enterprises partner sits at 324 N Azusa Avenue, the Superior Grocers kiosks sit in Baldwin Park and Covina, and the LA Metro IBC sits at 1365 N Grand Avenue in Covina. The field office is at 800 So Glendora Avenue. If the address you are navigating to says Valley Boulevard, you are heading to an address that does not exist as a DMV facility; if it says Grand Avenue in Covina, you are heading to the LA Metro IBC, which is not a field office.
  4. Pick a date and time. Morning slots move fastest. If West Covina shows nothing on your date, widen the same search BY TASK (section 4): El Monte first for counter work and tests — but remember it has no kiosk — then Pomona, Pasadena, or Montebello for full services with a kiosk. Remember that El Monte has no on-site kiosk, so kiosk tasks need a separate plan. Offices serve all California residents regardless of home address, and cancellations open slots when you check back.
  5. Enter your contact details and confirm. Save the confirmation — you will need it if anything changes.
  6. To change an appointment, cancel it in the scheduler and book a new one. That is the two-step path the scheduler offers: cancel the existing appointment, then book the replacement. There is no penalty figure attached to a missed appointment on this page, because no official source states one — just rebook through the scheduler.
  7. Start the application online first where the scheduler offers it. A REAL ID or licence application started online gives you a confirmation code that shortens counter time. Bring the documents checklist for your task — identity, residency, Social Security number where required — because a missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it. See our documents checklist. For a REAL ID first application, bring one proof of identity, your Social Security number, and two different documents proving California residency, all originals or certified copies — never photocopies. If your legal name has changed, bring name-change documentation too. A non-REAL ID card reads “Federal Limits Apply” and cannot be used to board domestic flights or enter secure federal facilities after May 7, 2025.
  8. Do not book an appointment for the tasks the DMV routes elsewhere. Appointments should not be made for registration renewal, licence or ID renewal, record requests, or a replacement licence — there is no counter service for those. Do them online, at a DMV Now kiosk, or by mail instead. Booking one anyway wastes your slot and the office’s time.

Prefer the phone? Call 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). If you are heading to the office without an appointment, check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option — walk-ins use the DMV’s QR check-in at the office (the old Get in Line system was discontinued in March 2026) — and bring everything on our documents checklist so you do not burn a second trip. This page does not assert a West Covina-specific walk-in rule either way: book first, and treat the same-day check-in as the fallback. More on the whole booking process in our California DMV appointment guide. This page prints no wait-time minutes: the live wait display on dmv.ca.gov changes hourly, and any snapshot quoted here would go stale within the hour — check the live display on the morning of your visit instead. A cached crawl of the office page’s mirror showed “appointment 16 minutes / no appointment 54 minutes,” and one competitor prints “approximately 22 minutes with appointment / 75 minutes without” — both are dead snapshots from old crawls, not facts, and they must never be treated as ones. A third-party tracker claims a “14-day average” appointment wait — also third-party, not a DMV fact, never printed. The DMV publishes only live, per-moment waits, never an average.

4Nearby DMV offices compared: the El Monte trap, eight full-service fallbacks, and a ring of no-office cities

Every real office in this cluster runs the same weekly pattern (Monday–Tuesday 8–5, Wednesday 9–5, Thursday–Friday 8–5, Saturday–Sunday closed) and the same six payment methods, and every office below was checked on its OWN dmv.ca.gov page — no service or kiosk claim is copied from another office’s nearby list. The differences are in DISTANCE and in KIOSK status — and that is the whole point of this section. Drive distances and times are driving routes computed with the OSRM routing engine on November 2, 2026, from one stated origin — West Covina City Hall, 1444 W Garvey Avenue South, West Covina, CA 91790 — free-flow (no traffic), for a typical drive. Readers starting elsewhere in West Covina should adjust: the city’s north side is closer to Azusa and Glendora, the west side closer to El Monte. Traffic on the I-10/SR-60/SR-57 corridor changes these times sharply at rush hour — never treat a drive time as a promise.

Los Angeles Metro IBC, Covina (NOT an alternative)1365 N Grand Avenue, Suite 100, Covina, CA 917246.7 mi / ~11 minNONOT a field office — an Industry Business Center. Hours Mon–Tue 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Wed 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Thu–Fri 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Sat–Sun closed; its own page carries NO “Services Provided” list and NO kiosk headline. Do NOT drive to Covina expecting a counter for licences, REAL ID, registration, or title work (section 1, warning box below).

One listing that looks like a public office and is NOT. The Los Angeles Metro IBC — 1365 North Grand Avenue, Suite 100, Covina, CA 91724 — Mon–Tue 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Wed 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Thu–Fri 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sat–Sun closed. “IBC” is the Industry Business Center listing; dmv.ca.gov describes its Service Centers as providing “business services to vehicle industry customers.” It appears on the West Covina office page’s nearby list, always labelled plain “DMV Field Office” with no kiosk badge. General-public readers must use the West Covina field-office entry (800 So Glendora Avenue, 91790), not the IBC entry. Note the hours difference too: the IBC opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM, an hour earlier on both ends than the field office — another signal it is a different kind of door. It is also the closest listing to West Covina on the map after El Monte (6.7 miles, about 11 minutes), which makes it the most dangerous trap in this cluster after El Monte: the nearest “DMV” on a map search for a Covina reader is not a DMV office at all. Do not present the IBC as a San Gabriel Valley DMV office, and do not drive to Grand Avenue in Covina expecting a counter.

Cities with no field office — do not print a field office for any of these. Covina has no dmv.ca.gov field-office page: its DMV presence is a grocery kiosk (Superior Grocers, 1375 N. Citrus Ave.) plus the LA Metro IBC, which is NOT a field office — Covina readers use West Covina. Baldwin Park has no field-office page either: its DMV presence is a grocery kiosk (Superior Grocers, 14433 Ramona Blvd.) — Baldwin Park readers use West Covina. Azusa has no field office: Azusa readers use West Covina. San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente have no field-office page on dmv.ca.gov either — all eight slugs return “Page not found,” verified on build day. Temple City and South El Monte DO have grocery kiosks (Ralphs Temple City; Superior Grocers South El Monte — section 6). Alhambra, South Gate, Lynwood, and Commerce have no field office either — their readers use Montebello, Bell Gardens, Lincoln Park, or Los Angeles (Hope Street). Pico Rivera, Downey, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, and La Mirada have no field office either — their readers use Whittier, Montebello, or Bell Gardens. Walnut and Glendora have no field office either — their readers use West Covina. If a directory sends you to a “DMV office” in any of these cities, it has sent you somewhere that does not exist.

Two corrections worth naming, because directories get them wrong. First, El Monte is the nearest office, not Pomona or Pasadena — 7.1 miles versus 13.7 and 12.4 from West Covina City Hall — and it is the nearest office precisely because it is the trap: the closest door is the one without a kiosk. A guide that starts its list at Pomona or Pasadena without naming El Monte’s missing kiosk sends you to a door that cannot do your kiosk task. Second, El Monte is a full-service office despite having no kiosk — the missing kiosk matters exactly once, when your task is a renewal or a record copy and you were hoping to use the office machine. For licences, tests, REAL ID, and title transfers, El Monte does the same work as the other offices. Do not rule it out on kiosk grounds — but do not drive 7 miles to El Monte for a renewal, either, when a grocery kiosk on Valley Boulevard in El Monte does it to 10:00 PM.

5Frequently asked questions

West Covina: the straight answers to the questions San Gabriel Valley residents actually ask — answered from official sources, verified November 2, 2026.

What are the hours of the West Covina DMV?

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (opens one hour late); closed Saturday and Sunday. The late opening is WEDNESDAY, not Tuesday — one ranking directory prints Tuesday 9am, and that is wrong. The date-specific exceptions: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is closed (Veterans Day, a state holiday), and Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27, 2026 are closed (Thanksgiving Day and the day after). Christmas Day (Friday, December 25, 2026) and New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1, 2027) are also closed. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve 2026 are normal-hours days. State holidays can change hours — confirm on the official office page before you go. No field office lists Saturday hours, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for West Covina.

Is the West Covina DMV open on Saturday or Sunday?

No — the West Covina field office is closed Saturday and Sunday, every week, on the official dmv.ca.gov calendar. Ignore any page that claims the DMV is open on weekends — one AI-written guide claims Saturday 9am–1pm, and that is wrong. Those are the grocery kiosks’ hours, not the office’s. If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, the nearby grocery kiosks cover weekends: Superior Grocers in Baldwin Park (14433 Ramona Blvd, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily), Superior Grocers in Covina (1375 N Citrus Ave, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily), and Ralphs in Temple City (9470 Las Tunas Dr, 6:00 AM–1:00 AM daily).

What is the address of the West Covina DMV?

800 So Glendora Avenue, West Covina, CA 91790. Beware pages listing ‘16001 Valley Blvd, West Covina, CA 91636’ — that address appears in one AI-written guide and is NOT the DMV office, and 91636 is not a West Covina ZIP code. ‘800 S Glendora Ave’ is the same address in short form. The official office page is dmv.ca.gov/portal/field-office/west-covina/.

What is the phone number for the West Covina DMV?

1-800-777-0133, the statewide DMV line (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; TTY 1-800-368-4327). There is no published direct number for the West Covina office — any ‘direct West Covina DMV number’ from a directory is unverified. One search-result place card attaches a different number to this address — that is third-party place data, not a dmv.ca.gov fact, and it is not printed here. Use the statewide line.

Do I need an appointment to visit the West Covina DMV?

Appointments are recommended and booking is free on the official DMV scheduler — and an appointment beats a walk-in at any hour. If you go without one, the DMV’s same-day check-in is now QR check-in at the office (the old Get in Line system was discontinued in March 2026), and you should expect to wait. The firm exception is the behind-the-wheel drive test, which is appointment-only with no walk-in path. This page does not assert a West Covina-specific walk-in rule either way — book first, and check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option. Do not book at all for a registration renewal, licence or ID renewal, record request, or replacement licence — there is no counter service for those; use online, a kiosk, or mail.

What services does the West Covina DMV offer — does it do driving tests?

Nine services, exactly as listed on dmv.ca.gov: Licensing Services; Testing; Title Transfers; Registration; Plates, Permits, & Placards; Replace Lost/Stolen/Damaged; Records; Request miscellaneous original documents; and Self Service Terminals (the on-site kiosk). Yes — behind-the-wheel drive tests are bookable here, as a separate appointment type from a general office visit. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for this office on its official page, so check the scheduler rather than assuming it. Payments accepted: cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order.

Does the West Covina DMV have a self-service kiosk, and what can I do at the kiosk?

Yes — inside the field office, open during office hours (Mon–Tue/Thu–Fri 8–5, Wed 9–5, Sat–Sun closed). But there is NO grocery kiosk inside West Covina city limits on the official nearby list — the nearest are Superior Grocers in Baldwin Park (14433 Ramona Blvd, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily) and Superior Grocers in Covina (1375 N Citrus Ave, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily), plus Ralphs in Temple City (9470 Las Tunas Dr, 6:00 AM–1:00 AM daily). Kiosks handle registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records only — they do NOT issue REAL IDs, run drive or knowledge tests, or issue first-time licenses. More in the kiosk section below and our DMV kiosk guide.

What should I bring for a REAL ID, licence, or registration visit?

For a REAL ID first application: one proof of identity (valid US passport or passport card, certified birth certificate, permanent resident card, or similar), your Social Security number, and two different documents proving California residency showing your first and last name and the mailing address that will appear on the card (mortgage bill, home utility or cell phone bill, vehicle registration card, bank statement, or similar) — originals or certified copies, never photocopies. If your legal name has changed, bring name-change documentation too. For a licence or registration visit, bring the documents on our documents checklist for your task. A missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it.

Is there a DMV field office in Covina? In Baldwin Park? In Azusa?

No to all three. Covina, Baldwin Park, and Azusa have NO field office — their dmv.ca.gov field-office pages all return ‘Page not found,’ verified on build day. Covina readers use West Covina for office business, plus the Superior Grocers kiosk on Citrus Avenue for renewals. Baldwin Park readers use West Covina plus the Superior Grocers kiosk on Ramona Boulevard. Azusa readers use West Covina. The same is true of San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, La Puente, Alhambra, South Gate, Lynwood, Commerce, Pico Rivera, Downey, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, Walnut, and Glendora — none of those cities has a field office either. Covina also hosts the LA Metro IBC, but that is an industry business center, not a field office.

If the West Covina DMV is fully booked, which nearby office should I try instead?

It depends on your TASK — and this is the most important answer on the page. For counter work and tests but NOT kiosk tasks: El Monte (4000 Arden Dr, 7.1 mi / ~11 min) — the closest office, but it has NO kiosk. For full services (anything, including REAL ID and drive tests) plus a kiosk: Pomona (1600 S Garey Ave, 13.7 mi / ~18 min), Pasadena (49 S Rosemead Blvd, 12.4 mi / ~20 min), Montebello (424 N Wilcox Ave, 13.2 mi / ~20 min), Whittier (9338 S Painter Ave, 14.4 mi / ~21 min), Bell Gardens (6801 S Garfield Ave, 16.4 mi / ~25 min), Lincoln Park (3529 N Mission Rd, 17.0 mi / ~22 min), Rancho Cucamonga (8629 Hellman Ave, 21.0 mi / ~27 min), Los Angeles Hope Street (3615 S Hope St, 22.4 mi / ~29 min), or Glendale (1335 W Glenoaks Blvd, 26.4 mi / ~33 min). Never the LA Metro IBC in Covina for counter work — it is an industry business center, not a public office. Pick by task first, then by drive time — never by an invented wait-time ranking.

Can I renew my vehicle registration at a kiosk or a DMV business partner instead of going to the West Covina office?

Yes for renewals and records — no for REAL ID, tests, or first licences. The six grocery kiosks in the cluster (Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, South El Monte, City of Industry, and Temple City — all open daily, Temple City’s Ralphs to 1:00 AM) handle registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records, including weekends when the office is closed. The DMV business partner actually inside West Covina is American Power Enterprises LLC at 324 N Azusa Ave (1-626-919-1800; Mon–Fri 9 AM–6 PM, Sat 10 AM–4 PM) — call before visiting; partners charge their own additional fee, so ask the price first. Partners handle registration-type work only — they cannot issue licences, run tests, or process REAL ID.

How do I get to the West Covina DMV by bus or train, and is there parking information available?

By rail, there is NO Metrolink station in West Covina — do not take a train ‘to West Covina,’ because no such stop exists. The nearest San Bernardino Line stations are Covina (600 N Citrus Ave) and Baldwin Park, and neither station is at the DMV office, so this page makes no station-to-office walk claim. By bus, Foothill Transit lines including 284 (Glendora–San Dimas–Covina–West Covina) serve the West Covina area — use the Foothill Transit / Metrolink trip planner and check the stop for 800 So Glendora Avenue before you travel; this page prints no stop-to-office walk claim, timetable, or frequency, because schedules change and a stale timetable is worse than no timetable. On parking: no official or credible source describes the Glendora Avenue office’s lot, capacity, street parking, or accessibility spaces, so this page asserts nothing about parking — arrive early and allow time to park, because the office does not publish parking details.

6Kiosks: the on-site machine plus the San Gabriel Valley grocery cluster

West Covina is well covered for kiosk tasks — but in a way that confuses readers, because the coverage is split across two cities and the office itself. The field office has a self-service terminal on site (open during office hours: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 8–5, Wednesday 9–5, weekends closed, November 11 closed), and the grocery kiosks below run on store hours, including weekends and late nights when the office is closed. Kiosk hours follow the host store’s hours, so confirm on dmv.ca.gov before a late-night trip. And remember the scope rule: kiosks handle registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records only. They do not issue REAL IDs, run drive or knowledge tests, or issue first-time licenses — and neither do the partners in the next section.

The count, stated carefully so it cannot be misread: zero grocery kiosks inside West Covina city limits on the office page’s official nearby list, plus six grocery kiosks in neighbouring cities (Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, South El Monte, City of Industry, Temple City) — six grocery kiosks in the West Covina-page cluster, seven kiosk locations counting the on-site machine. Never “seven kiosks in West Covina.” For a Covina or Baldwin Park reader, that distinction is the whole story: the kiosk is why a Covina resident can renew a registration without ever leaving the valley, and also why a Covina resident still has to drive to West Covina for a REAL ID or a drive test. Payment at kiosks: cash, credit card, and debit card accepted; one payment method per transaction; a 1.95% service fee applies to credit and debit card transactions (DMV kiosk FAQ). Bring the renewal notice (with its Renewal Identification Number) or the current registration card; for a replacement card or sticker bring the plate number and the last five digits of the VIN; for records bring the licence or ID card. More on kiosk-eligible tasks in our DMV kiosk guide.

The kiosk-versus-office decision is the page’s practical payoff, so here it is plainly. If the task is a registration renewal, a PNO filing, or a record copy, a grocery kiosk (open to 10:00 PM or 1:00 AM daily, including weekends when every field office is closed) beats any office visit — the Superior Grocers kiosk in Baldwin Park runs 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day, and the Ralphs kiosk in Temple City runs 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM every day. If the task is a REAL ID, a first licence, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the Glendora Avenue office. If the renewal needs a smog check or has a hold, the kiosk will not clear it — then it becomes an office task. And if the task is a kiosk task in El Monte, do NOT drive to the El Monte field office (no kiosk) — use the Superior Grocers kiosk on Valley Boulevard instead.

7DMV partners near West Covina: registration help for an extra fee

Partner caution, in the DMV’s own wording: “Businesses authorized by the DMV to handle certain registration services, often with much shorter wait times (if any!). Additional fees may be applied by this partner.” Partners handle registration-type work only; they do not issue licences, run tests, or process REAL ID. Ask the price before handing over paperwork. The partner list below is the official dmv.ca.gov listing for this cluster, re-verified November 2, 2026 — commercial “DMV registration” sites and directory listings are not DMV partners and are not presented as such.

Do NOT assume it is the same business as the Pomona partner at that address — the pages are separate listings. Named only, with a call-first caution; no hours or services invented.
Catano Insurance Brokers (Baldwin Park)3100 Big Dalton Ave Ste 160, Baldwin Park, CA 91706 — 1-626-966-1447Call before visiting — no hours printed hereListed on dmv.ca.gov; its partner page was not read in this check, so no hours are printed — call to confirm hours before visiting.

Two warnings before you use this table. First, the partner-hours anomaly: several partner listings on dmv.ca.gov show “Mon–Sun Closed” — that is a data anomaly, not hours, and this page never prints “Mon–Sun Closed” as a partner’s hours. For any partner showing that pattern, the page prints name, address, and phone only, with a call-first caution. Second, the non-partner warning: Gladys Auto Registrations (1730 W Cameron Ave, West Covina) appears in place and social-media data as an automotive registration centre, but NO dmv.ca.gov business-partner page for it was found in this check, so it is NOT presented here as a DMV partner. A search listing is not a DMV partner page. If a business calls itself a “DMV” service without appearing on dmv.ca.gov’s partner list, treat it as a private business, not as the DMV — and never hand it a task it cannot do, because no partner can issue a licence, run a test, or process a REAL ID.

8Drive tests at West Covina: what to expect

“Testing” is on the West Covina field office’s official services list, so behind-the-wheel drive tests are bookable here — as a separate appointment type in the official scheduler, not as part of a general office visit. That separation is the most common booking mistake in the whole DMV system, and it is worth repeating for a valley where the next office is a freeway drive away: book “drive test,” not “office visit,” for the road test, or you will be rebooking instead of testing. Drive tests are appointment-only — there is no walk-in path for them. The test itself follows the standard California examiner pattern — residential speed control, full stops, mirror and blind-spot discipline, lane discipline, and parking — and the best preparation is the same everywhere: practice on the skills in our driving test appointment guide and driving test tips, not a memorized route. This page deliberately prints no street-by-street examiner route for West Covina: no verified turn-by-turn route text was found for this office, and an invented route would be worse than no route.

The car-qualification checklist is statewide and worth running the night before, because a failed car check costs the appointment: valid registration, current insurance, working brake lights, turn signals, horn, and mirrors — and a licensed driver who brings the test-taker and waits at the office. The examiner’s pre-drive check covers the brakes (foot and parking), horn, turn signals front and back, brake lights, tires, an unobstructed windshield, working doors and windows, a driver-side window that rolls down, seat belts, two mirrors, two plates with current registration, the defroster, hazard lights, headlights, and wipers, and asks the test-taker to locate and demonstrate the controls (window, wipers, signals, brake lights, horn, parking brake, defroster, hazards, headlights) and arm signals. The skills tested are left and right turns, stops at intersections, lane changes, straight-line reversing, curbside parking, traffic checks, and space management, with freeway driving only briefly or rarely. What loses points everywhere in California: missed mirror and blind-spot checks before lane changes, rolling stops, following too closely, speed mismatched to conditions (not just the posted limit), and pedestrian-awareness failures at crosswalks and intersections. Two more scope notes. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for West Covina on its official page, so check the scheduler rather than assuming a motorcycle test is offered here — “Testing” is listed generically, with no breakout. And knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered after 4:30 PM, so do not book the last slot of the day and expect to test — take a morning slot for any test, drive or written, and treat the Wednesday 9:00 AM opening as a hard constraint on early appointments that day. After a failed test, a waiting period applies before retesting and the number of attempts is limited — the scheduler shows when you can rebook; no specific wait or attempt numbers are printed here without a Handbook citation. Parallel parking (other than pulling alongside a curb) is generally not required in the California test — phrased as “generally” only, never as an official guarantee.

Which office for the test, if West Covina shows no drive-test slot? El Monte (7.1 miles, about 11 minutes) is the same work closest by — and note that El Monte having no kiosk is irrelevant to a drive test, because a test does not need a kiosk; do not rule El Monte out on kiosk grounds. Pasadena (12.4 miles, about 20 minutes) is the second choice; Montebello (13.2 miles, about 20 minutes) is the third; Pomona (13.7 miles, about 18 minutes) is the fourth. Whittier, Bell Gardens, Lincoln Park, Rancho Cucamonga, Los Angeles (Hope Street), and Glendale are the farther alternatives. And do NOT book the test at the Los Angeles Metro IBC in Covina (1365 N Grand Avenue) — it is an Industry Business Center for vehicle-industry customers, not a public counter, and it does not take a general drive-test appointment for a West Covina reader. For West Covina’s teen population, one note: West Covina teens take permit and drive tests at this office, and Covina, Azusa, Walnut, Glendora, and Baldwin Park teens use West Covina too, because none of those cities has an office of its own — frame that as geographic adjacency, never as an assigned catchment, because dmv.ca.gov does not assign catchment areas. And one warning about a ranking page: a content-marketing article names West Covina among Los Angeles offices “notorious for long wait times and crowded testing areas” while also listing it under “Other Offices with High Pass Rates” — internally contradictory, single-source copy with no verifiable pass-rate data. This page prints no “easiest/hardest office to pass” ranking and no pass-rate percentage for West Covina, because no credible, current figure exists.

9Transit, parking & getting there

By rail, there is no Metrolink station in West Covina — and that is the transit version of the Covina-no-office correction: a name that sounds like it should exist, and the wrong assumption costs you the trip. The San Bernardino Line runs through the San Gabriel Valley, but its stations are in neighbouring cities: Covina, Baldwin Park, El Monte, Pomona–North, Claremont, Montclair, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Rialto, and San Bernardino. The nearest San Bernardino Line stations to the office are Covina (600 N Citrus Avenue, Covina, CA 91723 — with Foothill Transit connections at the station) and Baldwin Park. Do not take a train “to West Covina” — there is no such stop. Check which line your trip uses before you travel, and remember that neither the Covina nor the Baldwin Park station is at the DMV office, so this page makes no station-to-office walk claim at all.

By bus, Foothill Transit is the public transit agency for the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys — and it is headquartered in West Covina itself, at 100 S Vincent Avenue (its administrative offices moved to West Covina in 2007), running 37 routes across the two valleys. Lines serving the West Covina area include 185 (Azusa–West Covina–Puente Hills Mall), 190 (Pomona–West Covina–El Monte Station), 272 (Duarte–Baldwin Park–West Covina), 274 (West Covina–Industry–Whittier), 280 (Azusa–Puente Hills Mall via Azusa Avenue), 281 (Glendora–Azusa–West Covina–Puente Hills), 284 (Glendora–San Dimas–Covina–West Covina), 480 (West Covina–Pomona–Montclair Transit Center), 488 (Glendora–West Covina–El Monte Station), and the 493 and 498 express lines (West Covina–downtown Los Angeles). Line 284 runs along Glendora Avenue — the same street as the office — but no source verified at build time gives a specific stop’s walking distance to 800 So Glendora Avenue, so the page’s wording is deliberate: use the Foothill Transit / Metrolink trip planner and check the stop nearest 800 So Glendora Avenue before you travel. Never print a “get off at X, walk Y minutes” instruction, a timetable, or a frequency for any Foothill Transit route — the schedules change, and a stale timetable is worse than no timetable.

Parking is unsourced. No official or credible source describes the office’s lot, capacity, street parking, or accessibility spaces. This page does not assert “free parking,” “large lot,” or any parking-difficulty claim for the West Covina field office. Third-party review snippets describe long waits and crowding, but that is single-source aggregator data, not a verified parking fact, and it is not printed as one. The only tip offered is the honest one: arrive early and allow time to park, because the office does not publish parking details. No street-by-street driving directions appear anywhere on this page, for the same reason — the office address is the fact, plus the labelled OSRM drive times in section 4; the route is the reader’s navigation app.

10West Covina & the catchment: who this office actually serves

West Covina is a city in the central San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California — about 19 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. It sits on the valley floor between the San Gabriel Mountains to the north and the Puente Hills to the south, covering 10,282 acres (about 16 square miles). Its population was 109,501 at the 2020 United States census (U.S. Census Bureau, labelled with its year — never an unlabelled estimate), making it the 11th-most-populous city in Los Angeles County and the 65th largest in the state. Los Angeles is the county seat of Los Angeles County — not West Covina. Do not misstate this: the county-seat flagship office is the Los Angeles office, not West Covina.

The city was incorporated on February 17, 1923 — as an independent city to prevent the city of Covina from building a sewage farm in the area — after being settled in 1905 as an agricultural community of citrus and walnut groves. Its population was 769 in 1930 and 1,549 in 1940, then a post–World War II boom turned it into a suburban retail centre; Plaza West Covina, opened in 1962, strengthened the city’s role as a regional retail centre. Foothill Transit moved its administrative headquarters to West Covina in 2007. That is why this office matters beyond West Covina’s own residents: it is the permit and drive-test office for a large commuter and retail population, alongside the teens of Covina, Azusa, Walnut, Glendora, and Baldwin Park, whose cities have no office of their own. The San Gabriel Valley is a commuter valley — Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line runs through it, and Interstate 10, State Route 57, and State Route 60 all cross it — and a large, spread-out, car-dependent population, much of it commuting west to Los Angeles or east to the Inland Empire, is served by a single full-service field office.

The West Covina decision the page must answer: West Covina (full services + on-site kiosk + appointments, the default) vs El Monte (8 services, no kiosk — fine for tests and counter work, useless for kiosk tasks) vs Pomona / Pasadena / Montebello / Whittier / Bell Gardens / Lincoln Park / Los Angeles / Rancho Cucamonga / Glendale (full services + kiosk, the real fallbacks) vs the six grocery kiosks (registration and records only, open weekends and late — Baldwin Park and Covina to 10:00 PM daily, Temple City’s Ralphs to 1:00 AM daily) vs the in-city partner (American Power Enterprises LLC on N Azusa Avenue, registration-type work only, Mon–Fri 9–6, Sat 10–4) vs the LA Metro IBC in Covina (not a field office — do not drive there for counter work). Choice by TASK first, never by invented wait-time ranking. Catchment framing only: Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Walnut, Glendora, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente readers also use this office because their own cities have no field office — framed as “nearby cities whose residents use this office” on geographic adjacency, never as measured catchment data. Do not claim West Covina is the “official” office for Covina or Baldwin Park — dmv.ca.gov does not assign catchment areas.

11Before you leave home — the West Covina checklist

  • Confirm the day: Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM, not 8:00 AM — and not Tuesday, despite what one directory prints; Saturday and Sunday the office is closed, full stop. Wednesday, November 11 is closed (Veterans Day). Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 are closed (Thanksgiving and the day after). Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1, 2027) are closed; Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are normal-hours days. State holidays change hours — check the official office page the day before you go (see our California DMV holidays guide).
  • Confirm the door: field office (800 So Glendora Ave) vs LA Metro IBC in Covina (not a field office) vs kiosk vs partner. A kiosk cannot do your REAL ID; a partner cannot do your licence; the IBC cannot do anything for a general visitor; Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente have no field office at all.
  • Confirm the address: 800 So Glendora Avenue, West Covina, CA 91790. Not 16001 Valley Blvd (no DMV there, and 91636 is not a West Covina ZIP), not a grocery-kiosk address in Baldwin Park or Covina, not 324 N Azusa Ave (the American Power Enterprises partner), and not any Grand Avenue address in Covina (the LA Metro IBC).
  • Bring the documents checklist for your task (identity, residency, Social Security number where required, vehicle registration and insurance for a drive test, title and smog certification where required for a transfer). A missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it. See our documents checklist.
  • Bring payment that the door accepts: the field office takes cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order; kiosks take cash, credit, and debit cards, with a 1.95% service fee on card transactions; partners may add their own fee on top of the DMV fee.
  • If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, skip the office entirely and use the Superior Grocers kiosk in Baldwin Park (14433 Ramona Blvd, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily) or Covina (1375 N Citrus Ave, 7:00 AM–10:00 PM daily), or the Ralphs kiosk in Temple City (9470 Las Tunas Dr, 6:00 AM–1:00 AM daily) — all are open when the field office is closed, including weekends. Bring the renewal notice with its Renewal Identification Number, or the current registration card.
  • Do not book the last slot of the day for a knowledge test — tests are generally not given after 4:30 PM. And do not book an appointment at all for a renewal, a record copy, or a replacement licence — those go online, to a kiosk, or by mail.
  • If West Covina shows nothing, widen by task, not by distance: El Monte first for counter work and tests (7.1 miles — but NO kiosk), then Pomona (13.7 miles), Pasadena (12.4 miles), or Montebello (13.2 miles) — all full-service with kiosks on site. El Monte is a full-service alternative without a kiosk; do not rule it out for a licence, a test, or a REAL ID.

Before you leave, run the three checks from this page: the right day (Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM; weekends closed; November 11, 26, and 27 closed), the right door (field office vs IBC vs kiosk vs partner — a kiosk cannot do your REAL ID, a partner cannot do your licence, the IBC cannot do anything for a general visitor), and the right address (800 So Glendora Avenue — not Valley Boulevard, not the two kiosk addresses, not the partner address, not Grand Avenue in Covina). Those three checks prevent more wasted San Gabriel Valley trips than any other advice on this page.

12Which door does your task use?

This table is the page’s practical payoff: most wasted San Gabriel Valley trips are not about the address, they are about the wrong door. Read the row for your task before you book anything.

Your taskWhere it goesWhy
First driver’s licence, REAL ID first application, licence renewal that requires an office visitWest Covina field office, “office visit” appointment typeOnly a full-service field office issues licences and REAL IDs. Kiosks, partners, and the IBC cannot do them; Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and La Puente have no office of their own.
Behind-the-wheel drive testWest Covina field office, “drive test” appointment type (separate from office visit)West Covina lists Testing. Booking a general office visit for a road test means rebooking. Bring a qualifying vehicle and a licensed driver; the LA Metro IBC in Covina is an industry facility, not a drive-test site for a West Covina reader.
Knowledge (written) test — first timeWest Covina field office, office-visit/test appointmentFirst-time knowledge tests are an office task. Do not book the last slot — tests are generally not given after 4:30 PM.
Knowledge (written) test — retestWest Covina field office (or El Monte / Pomona / Pasadena)No limited-service shortcut exists in this cluster, so a retest is a West Covina, El Monte, Pomona, or Pasadena office task.
ID card — original or replacementWest Covina field office (or El Monte / Pomona / Pasadena)Original ID cards are an office task; eligible renewals can also go through a kiosk.
Driver’s licence renewal (eligible, under 70, no REAL ID upgrade, no holds)Grocery kiosk (Superior Grocers Baldwin Park to 10:00 PM, Superior Grocers Covina to 10:00 PM, Ralphs Temple City to 1:00 AM) or onlineNo office visit needed, and kiosks run weekends and late. If the renewal needs a photo, vision test, or re-examination, it becomes an office task.
Registration renewal, planned non-operation, driver/vehicle record copyGrocery kiosk (Baldwin Park / Covina / El Monte / South El Monte / City of Industry / Temple City), the on-site West Covina kiosk, or onlineNo office visit needed. If the renewal needs a smog check or has a hold, the kiosk will not clear it — then it becomes a West Covina office task.
Title transfer, new registration, plates, placards, replacement registration card (complex cases)West Covina field office only (in this cluster)Kiosks cannot do title transfers; partners handle registration-type work only. El Monte is the full-service fallback if West Covina shows nothing — but remember it has no kiosk.
Registration help with a person at a counter (renewal, plates, sticker, transfer paperwork)DMV partner — American Power Enterprises LLC (324 N Azusa Ave, West Covina, Mon–Fri 9–6, Sat 10–4) or Tag That Registration Services LLC (10818 Main St, El Monte, Mon–Fri 10–6:30) or LA Auto Registration Services (17227 E Valley Blvd, La Puente, Mon–Fri 10–7:30, Sat 10–6:30)Partners charge their own additional fee — ask the price first. Partners cannot do licences, tests, or REAL ID.
No appointment available at West CovinaEl Monte field office (same counter work, no kiosk) first; Pomona / Pasadena / Montebello as fallbacks (all full-service with kiosks); Whittier / Bell Gardens / Lincoln Park / Rancho Cucamonga / Los Angeles (Hope Street) / Glendale as farther fallbacksEl Monte is the only like-for-like substitute closest in the cluster for counter work — but it has no kiosk, so kiosk tasks need a grocery kiosk instead. Do not drive to Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, or La Puente expecting a field office — none exists. Do not drive to the LA Metro IBC in Covina expecting a counter.

Ready to book?

Booking happens on the DMV’s official scheduler — it’s free. Book the Glendora Avenue office for West Covina, Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Walnut, and Glendora visits — and remember to pick “drive test” (not a general visit) if you are booking a road test, to use the Superior Grocers kiosk in Baldwin Park or Covina for renewals and records instead of an office visit, and to check the El Monte fallback for counter work (but never for a kiosk task). Bring our document checklist so you walk in prepared, and double-check the holiday schedule before you go — the office is closed November 11, 26, and 27.
