Fullerton DMV: Hours, Services & Appointment Guide

A real, full-service DMV field office at 909 W Valencia Drive — nine services, an on-site self-service kiosk, and drive tests — and the only field office for a whole ring of north Orange County cities that have none of their own. Brea, La Habra, Orange, and Buena Park have kiosks but no office, Anaheim’s driver-license processing center closed permanently in March 2023, and the closest DMV building to Fullerton is an industry business center that the public cannot use. This page separates the real office from the traps first, before anything else, because every wasted trip in north Orange County starts with the wrong door, the wrong day, or the wrong kind of building. 909 W Valencia Drive, Fullerton, CA 92832
Orange County — the north Orange County anchor: full 9 services with an on-site kiosk · the nearest office for Fullerton, Brea, La Habra, Placentia, and the whole north Orange County ring, none of which (except Fullerton) has a field office of its own

1The north Orange County anchor — a real office, nine services, and a kiosk

Fullerton is a real DMV field office, and that single fact is the whole point of this page — because the directories get it wrong in several directions at once, and the buildings that look like offices are not. The Fullerton field office is at 909 W Valencia Drive, Fullerton, CA 92832: a working field office with the full nine services, drive tests, an on-site self-service kiosk, and standard field-office hours (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday closed). It is the office for Fullerton itself and — because the cities around it have so few offices — the nearest office for Brea, La Habra, and Placentia, none of which has a field office of its own, and the fallback for Buena Park and Orange readers too. That is a large, car-dependent population served by one nine-service office, and the comparison in section 4 is the release valve for the days this office shows nothing.

The first correction on this page is the closed building that directories still list as an office. The Anaheim DLPC is PERMANENTLY CLOSED — it closed in March 2023 for repairs and “will remain permanently closed,” in the DMV’s own press release of August 22, 2023 (“DMV to Close Southern California Driver’s License Processing Centers”). DLPCs only ever handled driver’s license and ID card transactions — they were never full-service offices even when open — and the Anaheim one at 3170 W. Lincoln Avenue is gone for good. Aggregator sites and old bookmarks still send people to it. Do not go there, and do not let any page list it as a nearby office: it is a closed processing center, not a public office. After the closure, DMV staff were reassigned to nearby offices (per the same press release), which is one reason the Fullerton, Westminster, and Santa Ana offices carry the load now.

The second correction is the building that looks like an office and is not. The Placentia IBC — 2390 Rose Drive, Placentia, CA 92870 — sits on Fullerton’s own nearby list labelled “DMV Field Office,” and it is not one. “IBC” is the Industry Business Center listing: hours Monday–Tuesday 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Wednesday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Thursday–Friday 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Saturday–Sunday closed, and its own page carries NO “Services Provided” list and NO kiosk headline. Per the DMV’s own January 6, 2024 press release, IBCs serve industry business customers — registration services and vehicle dealerships — not the general public. General-public readers must use the Fullerton field-office entry (909 W Valencia Drive, 92832), not the IBC entry. Note the hours difference too: the IBC opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM, an hour earlier on both ends than the field office — another signal it is a different kind of door. It is also geographically the closest DMV facility to Fullerton (3.8 miles, about 9 minutes from Fullerton City Hall), which makes it the most dangerous trap in this cluster: the nearest “DMV” on a map search for a Placentia or Brea reader is not a DMV office at all. Do not present the IBC as a north Orange County DMV office, and do not drive to Rose Drive in Placentia expecting a counter.

The third correction is bigger than one office: four nearby cities have no DMV field office at all. Brea, La Habra, Orange, and Buena Park have NO field office — they have DMV Now kiosks inside grocery stores only (Ralphs in Brea, Albertsons in La Habra, Ralphs in Orange, Albertsons and Superior Grocers in Buena Park). Anaheim has no full-service field office either — the DLPC closed, and what remains is a grocery kiosk (Ralphs, 915 S. Brookhurst Street). A kiosk is not an office. If a directory sends you to a “DMV office” in any of these cities, it has sent you somewhere that does not exist. The full list, with what each city actually has instead, is in section 4.

The fourth correction is the kiosk’s hours, because the DMV’s own marketing line misleads here. The official Fullerton page says “This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line” — and that is true — but the on-site kiosk follows office hours (weekdays only, closed weekends and November 11). It is NOT open daily at this location, whatever the DMV’s “No wait times and open daily!” kiosk boilerplate says. The kiosks that genuinely run daily are the grocery-store ones: Albertsons in Fullerton (Malvern), 2291 W. Malvern Avenue, open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM seven days a week, and Ralphs in Brea, open to 1:00 AM daily. Section 6 has the full kiosk map, with the in-office machine and the grocery machines kept strictly separate.

Why does one nine-service office carry this much demand? Fullerton is a city of 143,617 people at the 2020 census (U.S. Census Bureau, labelled with its year — never an unlabelled estimate), in northern Orange County, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles (commonly cited distance, labelled approximate), the sixth-largest city in Orange County. The city was founded in 1887, named for George H. Fullerton, and incorporated on February 15, 1904, and it is home to California State University, Fullerton. One more civic correction, because directories get it wrong: Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County — not Fullerton. The rest of this page is the map for using this office well, for knowing where the kiosks actually are, and for knowing where to go when it shows nothing.

2Hours, services & the dates to avoid

The weekly pattern is the standard California field-office pattern, confirmed on the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page (which prints a two-week calendar, November 1–14, 2026, showing the same pattern):

DayHours
Monday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Tuesday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Wednesday9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (opens one hour late)
Thursday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday – SundayClosed

The Wednesday quirk is the detail that catches the most people: every other weekday opens at 8:00 AM, but Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM. Do not show up at 8:00 on a Wednesday expecting the early-bird advantage — you will wait outside for an hour. Weekends are closed, full stop. No California DMV field office lists Saturday hours, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for Fullerton — including any page that prints kiosk hours as office hours. The Albertsons Malvern kiosk in Fullerton runs 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, and the Ralphs kiosk in Brea runs 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM daily; those are the kiosks’ hours, not the office’s, and the office is closed every weekend. There are date-specific exceptions in the near term, and they are the date warnings on this page: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is CLOSED — Veterans Day, a state holiday, printed as “closed” on the office’s own November 1–14 calendar and on the DMV’s official holidays list. Do not plan a Wednesday-November-11 visit; Thursday November 12 reopens at 8:00 AM. Thursday, November 26, 2026 (Thanksgiving Day) is CLOSED, and Friday, November 27, 2026 (the day after Thanksgiving) is CLOSED as well, per the same official holidays list. Friday, December 25, 2026 (Christmas Day) is CLOSED, and Friday, January 1, 2027 (New Year’s Day) is CLOSED. Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24) and New Year’s Eve (Thursday, December 31) are NOT closure days — normal hours apply. Do not copy the federal holiday calendar onto the DMV: Juneteenth and Columbus Day are NOT on the DMV holidays list. State holidays can change hours at other times of year too, so confirm on the official office page the day before you go — see our California DMV holidays guide. And one timing rule that applies statewide: knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered after 4:30 PM, so do not book the last slot of the day and expect to test.

The office provides the full nine services, exactly as listed on dmv.ca.gov — including the ninth, Self Service Terminals, which is what makes Fullerton a complete office.

Service (official list)What it means for your visit
Licensing ServicesDriver licenses (new, renewal, replacement), ID cards, and REAL ID applications. REAL ID first applications require an in-person office visit with original documents — this is the single biggest reason people still visit in person. Start the application online first for a confirmation code; it shortens counter time. California also issues driver licenses regardless of immigration status (AB 60), accepting a foreign passport or matrícula consular as identity, with those cards marked “Federal Limits Apply.” See our REAL ID appointment guide.
TestingKnowledge (written) tests and behind-the-wheel drive tests, booked as separate appointment types in the official scheduler. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for this office on its official page — check the scheduler rather than assuming it. “Testing” is listed generically, with no breakout. No verified turn-by-turn drive-test route text was found for Fullerton, so this page prints no street-by-street examiner route.
Title TransfersPrivate-party sales, family transfers, and out-of-state titles. Bring the signed title, smog certification where required, and odometer disclosure. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification (REG 31) at the office.
RegistrationNew vehicle registrations, renewals that cannot be completed online, and planned non-operation (PNO) filings for vehicles going into storage. Simple registration renewals are often kiosk or online tasks instead — at Fullerton, that means the on-site kiosk or the Albertsons Malvern kiosk at 2291 W. Malvern Avenue (open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily), NOT a weekday office visit. See our registration renewal guide.
Plates, Permits, & PlacardsReplacement license plates, temporary operating permits, and disabled person placards. Disabled placard applications are one of the few counter services with no online substitute — bring the medical certification form completed by a licensed medical professional.
Replace Lost/Stolen/DamagedDuplicate driver licenses, registration cards, and vehicle titles when the original is lost, stolen, or damaged. Many replacements can be done online or at a kiosk instead — check before driving to Valencia Drive.
RecordsDriver and vehicle record requests. Note that simple record-copy requests are handled through out-of-office options in many cases — check eligibility before visiting. Kiosk record requests are available at the grocery kiosks in section 6.
Request miscellaneous original documentsLess common document requests handled at the counter for paperwork outside the standard categories.
Self Service TerminalsThe on-site kiosk — registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records without a counter visit, during office hours. This is the ninth service that makes Fullerton a full nine-service office. Fullerton is also the rare office in this cluster with BOTH an on-site kiosk and a grocery kiosk inside its own city limits (Albertsons Malvern, 2291 W. Malvern Avenue, open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily) — section 6 has the full kiosk map. One warning: the on-site kiosk follows office hours (weekdays only, closed weekends and November 11) — do not let the DMV’s “open daily” kiosk marketing line make you think the on-site machine runs on Sunday.

Payment is the same statewide line printed on the office page: the DMV accepts cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order at field offices. One old third-party review roundup claims this office takes no credit cards — that contradicts the current official page, so trust the official page and ignore the old claim. The statewide phone line for everything is 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; TTY 1-800-368-4327). No office-specific phone number is published for Fullerton — any “direct Fullerton DMV number” from a directory is unverified, so use the statewide line. This page deliberately prints no fee dollar amounts: fee line items change and are gated until re-verified on dmv.ca.gov at build time, and the one figure that is safe to state is that booking itself is free.

One more scope rule before you book, because it saves more trips than any other paragraph on this page: routine services get no counter service at all. The DMV’s own appointment page states it plainly: the DMV does not provide counter service for vehicle registration renewal, driver’s license or ID card renewal (unless specified on the notice), driver and vehicle records, or replacement driver’s licenses — those must be done online, at a DMV kiosk, with a DMV business partner, or by mail. Before driving to Valencia Drive, check whether your task is actually an office task. The Fullerton office page itself lists the tasks completable online with the DMV or a DMV-authorized partner: renew your vehicle registration; renew your driver’s license or ID card; driver’s license or ID card application (start online for a confirmation code — REAL ID first applications still need the in-person visit with originals); change your address; Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability; request a replacement driver’s license; special-interest or personalized plates; and request your driver’s record. If your task is on that list and needs no in-person step, do it online first. If it is a REAL ID, a first license, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the office. And if it is a kiosk task, do NOT drive to Valencia Drive on a weekend at all — use the Albertsons Malvern kiosk instead, open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily.

3Booking an appointment here

Booking happens only on the DMV’s official scheduler, and it is free. Here is the play for a Fullerton visit:

  1. Go to the official DMV appointment scheduler (“Schedule an Appointment” on dmv.ca.gov).
  2. Choose your appointment type FIRST. This is the highest-value sentence in this section: a field-office visit and a behind-the-wheel drive test are separate appointment types in the official scheduler, with separate queues. Booking the wrong type means rebooking. Pick “office visit” for licenses, ID, registration, and most counter services; pick “drive test” for the road test. Drive tests are appointment-only — there is no walk-in path for them.
  3. Search by ZIP (92832) or “Fullerton” and pick the Valencia Drive office — not a partner address, not a kiosk address, and not the Placentia IBC in Placentia, none of which takes appointments. Watch the address traps, because they are real in this cluster: the VIP Registration Services partner sits at 515 W. Commonwealth Avenue, the Albertsons Malvern kiosk sits at 2291 W. Malvern Avenue, and the Placentia IBC sits at 2390 Rose Drive in Placentia. The field office is at 909 W Valencia Drive. If the address you are navigating to says Commonwealth Avenue, you are heading to a partner; if it says Malvern Avenue, you are heading to a grocery kiosk; if it says Rose Drive in Placentia, you are heading to the Placentia IBC, which is not a field office; if it says Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim, you are heading to the closed DLPC.
  4. Pick a date and time. Morning slots move fastest. If Fullerton shows nothing on your date, widen the same search BY TASK (section 4): Whittier first for full services with a kiosk (11.9 miles), then Westminster (12.9 miles) or Santa Ana (12.5 miles) — all full-service offices with kiosks on site. Offices serve all California residents regardless of home address, and cancellations open slots when you check back.
  5. Enter your contact details and confirm. Save the confirmation — you will need it if anything changes.
  6. To change an appointment, cancel it in the scheduler and book a new one. That is the two-step path the scheduler offers: cancel the existing appointment, then book the replacement. There is no penalty figure attached to a missed appointment on this page, because no official source states one — just rebook through the scheduler.
  7. Start the application online first where the scheduler offers it. A REAL ID or licence application started online gives you a confirmation code that shortens counter time. Bring the documents checklist for your task — identity, residency, Social Security number where required — because a missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it. See our documents checklist. For a REAL ID first application, bring one proof of identity, your Social Security number, and two different documents proving California residency, all originals or certified copies — never photocopies. If your legal name has changed, bring name-change documentation too. A non-REAL ID card reads “Federal Limits Apply” and cannot be used to board domestic flights or enter secure federal facilities after May 7, 2025.
  8. Do not book an appointment for the tasks the DMV routes elsewhere. Appointments should not be made for registration renewal, licence or ID renewal, record requests, or a replacement licence — there is no counter service for those. Do them online, at a DMV Now kiosk, or by mail instead. Booking one anyway wastes your slot and the office’s time. At Fullerton this matters twice over: the office has an on-site kiosk, so a renewal booked as an office visit is a trip that should have gone to the kiosk — or to the Albertsons Malvern kiosk on Malvern Avenue, open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily.

Prefer the phone? Call 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). If you are heading to the office without an appointment, check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option — walk-ins use the DMV’s QR check-in at the office (the old Get in Line system was discontinued in March 2026) — and bring everything on our documents checklist so you do not burn a second trip. This page does not assert a Fullerton-specific walk-in rule either way: book first, and treat the same-day check-in as the fallback. More on the whole booking process in our California DMV appointment guide. This page prints no wait-time minutes: the live wait display on dmv.ca.gov changes hourly, and any snapshot quoted here would go stale within the hour — check the live display on the morning of your visit instead. The DMV publishes only live, per-moment waits, never an average.

4Nearby DMV offices compared: the Orange County anchor, the Placentia trap, and a ring of no-office cities

Every real office in this cluster runs the same weekly pattern (Monday–Tuesday 8–5, Wednesday 9–5, Thursday–Friday 8–5, Saturday–Sunday closed) and the same six payment methods, and every office below was checked on its OWN dmv.ca.gov page — no service or kiosk claim is copied from another office’s nearby list. The differences are in DISTANCE and in KIOSK status — and that is the whole point of this section. Drive distances and times are driving routes computed with the OSRM routing engine on November 3, 2026, from one stated origin — Fullerton City Hall, 303 W Commonwealth Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92832 — free-flow (no traffic), for a typical drive. Readers starting elsewhere in Fullerton should adjust: the city’s north side is closer to Whittier, the south side closer to Santa Ana. Traffic on the SR-57/SR-91/I-5 corridor changes these times sharply at rush hour — never treat a drive time as a promise.

Placentia IBC (NOT an alternative)2390 Rose Drive, Placentia, CA 928703.8 mi / ~9 minNONOT a field office — an Industry Business Center. Hours Mon–Tue 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Wed 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Thu–Fri 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, Sat–Sun closed; its own page carries NO “Services Provided” list and NO kiosk headline. Do NOT drive to Placentia expecting a counter for licences, REAL ID, registration, or title work (section 1, warning box below).

One listing that looks like a public office and is NOT. The Placentia IBC — 2390 Rose Drive, Placentia, CA 92870 — Mon–Tue 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Wed 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Thu–Fri 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sat–Sun closed. “IBC” is the Industry Business Center listing; dmv.ca.gov describes its Service Centers as providing “business services to vehicle industry customers.” It appears on the Fullerton office page’s nearby list, always labelled plain “DMV Field Office” with no kiosk badge — DMV’s own card wording. It is also geographically the closest DMV facility to Fullerton (3.8 miles, about 9 minutes), which makes it the most dangerous trap in this cluster: the nearest “DMV” on a map search for a Placentia or Brea reader is not a DMV office at all. Do not present the IBC as a north Orange County DMV office, and do not drive to Rose Drive in Placentia expecting a counter.

One building that used to be a DMV door and is NOT anymore. The Anaheim DLPC — 3170 W. Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim — closed in March 2023 for repairs and “will remain permanently closed” (DMV press release, August 22, 2023). DLPCs only ever handled driver’s license and ID card transactions; they were never full-service offices even when open. Anaheim readers now use Fullerton (909 W Valencia Drive) for full services, or the Ralphs kiosk at 915 S. Brookhurst Street for renewals and records. If a page, a bookmark, or an old search result sends you to the Anaheim DLPC, it has sent you to a closed building.

Cities with no field office — do not print a field office for any of these. Brea has no dmv.ca.gov field-office page: Brea readers use Fullerton first — and Brea DOES have a grocery kiosk (Ralphs, 305 W. Imperial Highway, Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–1:00 AM). A kiosk is not an office. La Habra has no field office: La Habra readers use Fullerton first, Whittier second — and La Habra DOES have a grocery kiosk (Albertsons, 1800 W. Whittier Boulevard, Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–11:00 PM). A kiosk is not an office. Orange has no field office: Orange readers use Fullerton or Santa Ana — and Orange DOES have a grocery kiosk (Ralphs, 1435 W. Chapman Avenue). A kiosk is not an office. Buena Park has no field office: Buena Park readers use Fullerton first, Westminster second — and Buena Park DOES have two grocery kiosks (Albertsons, 8880 Valley View Street, Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–11:00 PM; Superior Grocers, 6931 La Palma Avenue, Mon–Sun 7:00 AM–10:00 PM). Kiosks are not offices. Placentia has no field office: Placentia readers use Fullerton first — and the Placentia IBC on Rose Drive is an industry business center, not a public office. Anaheim has no full-service field office: Anaheim readers use Fullerton first — and Anaheim DOES have a grocery kiosk (Ralphs, 915 S. Brookhurst Street, Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–1:00 AM). If a directory sends you to a “DMV office” in any of these cities, it has sent you somewhere that does not exist.

Two corrections worth naming, because directories get them wrong. First, Fullerton is the nearest office to itself, not Whittier or Westminster — and it is the nearest office precisely because it is the complete one: nine services and a kiosk on site, plus a grocery kiosk in its own city open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily. A guide that starts its list at Whittier or Westminster without naming Fullerton’s own kiosk sends you past a door that can do your whole task. Second, Anaheim has no DMV office at all anymore — the DLPC is permanently closed, and the only DMV presence left in Anaheim is a grocery kiosk. For licences, tests, REAL ID, and title transfers, Fullerton does the same work as the other offices, and for kiosk tasks it does more than any office without one. Do not rule Fullerton out on the strength of a stale note — but do not drive to Valencia Drive on a Saturday either, when the office is closed and the Albertsons Malvern kiosk is the door that is open.

5Frequently asked questions

Fullerton: the straight answers to the questions north Orange County residents actually ask — answered from official sources, verified November 3, 2026.

Is the Fullerton DMV open on Saturday or Sunday?

No — the Fullerton field office is closed Saturday and Sunday, every week, on the official dmv.ca.gov calendar. Ignore any page that implies the DMV offers Saturday appointments — those are the grocery kiosks’ hours, not the office’s. If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, the nearby grocery kiosks cover weekends: Albertsons in Fullerton (Malvern), 2291 W. Malvern Avenue, 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily; Ralphs in Brea, 305 W. Imperial Highway, 6:00 AM–1:00 AM daily; and Albertsons in La Habra, 1800 W. Whittier Boulevard, 6:00 AM–11:00 PM daily.

What are the Fullerton DMV hours?

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (opens one hour late); closed Saturday and Sunday. The late opening is WEDNESDAY, not Tuesday — a reader who arrives at 8:00 AM on Wednesday finds a closed office, and a reader who arrives at 9:00 AM on Tuesday has already waited an hour for nothing. The date-specific exceptions: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is closed (Veterans Day, a state holiday), and Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27, 2026 are closed (Thanksgiving Day and the day after). Christmas Day (Friday, December 25, 2026) and New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1, 2027) are also closed. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve 2026 are normal-hours days. State holidays can change hours — confirm on the official office page before you go. No field office lists Saturday hours, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for Fullerton.

What is the Fullerton DMV address?

909 W Valencia Drive, Fullerton, CA 92832. The office sits on Valencia Drive in central Fullerton, near Harbor Boulevard. Phone: 1-800-777-0133, the statewide DMV line (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; TTY 1-800-368-4327) — there is no published direct number for the Fullerton office, so any ‘direct Fullerton DMV number’ from a directory is unverified. The official office page is dmv.ca.gov/portal/field-office/fullerton/. Do not print any suite number with the address — the “#2106” fragment that appears in one place record does not appear on dmv.ca.gov.

Do I need an appointment at the Fullerton DMV?

Appointments are recommended and booking is free on the official DMV scheduler — and an appointment beats a walk-in at any hour. If you go without one, the DMV’s same-day check-in is now QR check-in at the office (the old Get in Line system was discontinued in March 2026), and you should expect to wait behind appointment holders. The firm exception is the behind-the-wheel drive test, which is appointment-only with no walk-in path. This page does not assert a Fullerton-specific walk-in rule either way — book first, and check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option. Do not book at all for a registration renewal, licence or ID renewal, record request, or replacement licence — there is no counter service for those; use online, a kiosk, or mail.

Can I just walk in to the Fullerton DMV without an appointment?

Yes for most in-person services, but expect to wait behind appointment holders — and bring everything on our documents checklist so you do not burn a second trip. Walk-ins use the DMV’s QR check-in at the office. The exception is the behind-the-wheel drive test, which is appointment-only with no walk-in path. And some visits are not walk-in tasks at all: registration renewals, licence or ID renewals, record requests, and replacement licences have no counter service — do them online, at a kiosk, or by mail instead of walking in.

Does the Fullerton DMV do driving tests?

Yes — “Testing” is on the Fullerton field office’s official services list, covering knowledge (written) tests and behind-the-wheel drive tests. Drive tests need an appointment booked in advance as a separate appointment type from a general office visit. Bring a safe, registered, and insured vehicle, your permit, and a licensed driver. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for this office on its official page, so check the scheduler rather than assuming it. This page prints no street-by-street examiner route for Fullerton: no verified turn-by-turn route text was found for this office, and an invented route would be worse than no route.

Can I get a REAL ID at the Fullerton DMV?

Yes — first-time REAL ID is an in-person visit at this office. Bring one proof of identity, your Social Security number, and two different documents proving California residency, all originals or certified copies — never photocopies. If your legal name has changed, bring name-change documentation too. REAL ID has been enforced for domestic flights since May 7, 2025. A non-REAL ID card reads “Federal Limits Apply” and cannot be used to board domestic flights or enter secure federal facilities. Start the application online first for a confirmation code; it shortens counter time. See our REAL ID appointment guide.

Does the Fullerton DMV have a kiosk, and what can I do at the kiosk?

Yes — and Fullerton is the rare office in this cluster with BOTH an on-site kiosk and a grocery kiosk inside its own city limits. The field office has a self-service kiosk on site (Self Service Terminals is the ninth service on its official list), open during office hours only — weekdays, closed weekends and November 11. The grocery kiosk is Albertsons in Fullerton (Malvern), 2291 W. Malvern Avenue (Mon–Sun 5:00 AM–11:00 PM), 1.9 miles from Fullerton City Hall. Kiosks handle registration renewals with the sticker printed on the spot, planned non-operation, driver/vehicle records, replacement registration cards or stickers, DL/ID renewal, and address changes — they do NOT issue REAL IDs, run drive or knowledge tests, or issue first-time licenses. A 1.95% service fee applies to credit and debit card transactions at kiosks. More in the kiosk section below and our DMV kiosk guide.

What forms of payment does the Fullerton DMV accept?

Cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order — the official line printed on the Fullerton office page. One old third-party review roundup claims this office takes no credit cards; that contradicts the current official page, so trust the official page. Kiosks take credit and debit cards everywhere (with a 1.95% service fee) and cash at many retail locations, with only one payment method per kiosk transaction. Partners may add their own fee on top of the DMV fee.

What is the closest DMV to Fullerton if this office is full?

It depends on your TASK and on which office is actually nearest — and this is the most important answer on the page. For full services (anything, including REAL ID and drive tests) plus a kiosk: Whittier (9338 S Painter Avenue, 11.9 mi / ~24 min) is the nearest fallback, then Santa Ana (1330 E First Street, 12.5 mi / ~18 min), then Westminster (13700 Hoover Street, 12.9 mi / ~21 min) — all full-service offices with kiosks on site. Never the Placentia IBC in Placentia for counter work — it is an industry business center, not a public office, even though it is the closest DMV facility (3.8 mi / ~9 min). Never the Anaheim DLPC — it closed permanently in March 2023. Pick by task first, then by drive time — never by an invented wait-time ranking.

Is there a DMV in Brea, La Habra, or Orange?

No field office in any of the three — only DMV Now kiosks in grocery stores. Brea has a kiosk at Ralphs, 305 W. Imperial Highway (Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–1:00 AM). La Habra has a kiosk at Albertsons, 1800 W. Whittier Boulevard (Mon–Sun 6:00 AM–11:00 PM). Orange has a kiosk at Ralphs, 1435 W. Chapman Avenue. For licenses, permits, REAL ID, or tests you need Fullerton, Whittier, Santa Ana, or Westminster. The same is true of Buena Park (two grocery kiosks, no office), Placentia (the IBC is businesses-only, not a public office), and Anaheim (the DLPC closed permanently in March 2023; only a grocery kiosk remains).

What should I bring to the Fullerton DMV?

It depends on the visit. For a first licence or REAL ID: original proof of identity, your Social Security number, and two different documents proving California residency — originals or certified copies, never photocopies. For a permit test: the completed application and, if you are under 18, a parent’s signature plus the driver-education certificate — verify the current bring-list against the DMV’s teen/permit pages before you go, because the exact form list changes. For a drive test: your permit, a registered and insured vehicle, and a licensed driver who brings you and waits at the office. For a title transfer: the signed title, smog certification where required, and odometer disclosure. For any visit, run our documents checklist for your task — a missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it.

6Kiosks: an on-site machine AND a grocery kiosk in the same city

Fullerton is the rare office in this cluster where the kiosk story is a feature, not a warning: an on-site kiosk at the field office AND a grocery kiosk inside Fullerton city limits, open 5:00 AM–11:00 PM seven days a week. The grocery kiosks below run on store hours, including weekends and late nights when the office is closed. Kiosk hours follow the host store’s hours, so confirm on dmv.ca.gov before a late-night trip. And remember the scope rule: kiosks handle registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records only. They do not issue REAL IDs, run drive or knowledge tests, or issue first-time licenses — and neither do the partners in the next section. There are 289 DMV Now kiosks statewide (official DMV kiosk FAQ figure).

The on-site kiosk is Self Service Terminals on the office’s official services list — the machine that makes Fullerton a full nine-service office. It follows office hours, so it is closed on weekends and on November 11 — do not let the DMV’s “open daily” kiosk marketing line make you think the on-site machine runs on Sunday. One building, one office, one kiosk.
Albertsons in Fullerton (Malvern)
2291 W. Malvern Ave., Fullerton, CA 92833
Mon–Sun 5:00 AM – 11:00 PMThe hero kiosk of this cluster — the only grocery kiosk inside Fullerton city limits, and the earliest-opening kiosk in the cluster (5:00 AM). 1.9 miles, about 5 minutes, from Fullerton City Hall. A reader who misses the office’s 5:00 PM close can still finish a kiosk task here until 11:00 PM, including weekends.
Ralphs in Brea
305 W. Imperial Hwy., Brea, CA 92821
Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 1:00 AMThe latest-opening kiosk in the cluster (1:00 AM close). The kiosk that makes readers think Brea has an office — it has a kiosk, not an office.
Ralphs in Anaheim
915 S. Brookhurst St., Anaheim, CA 92804
Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 1:00 AMThe kiosk that makes readers think Anaheim still has a DMV office — it has a kiosk, not an office. The Anaheim DLPC closed permanently in March 2023.
Albertsons in La Habra
1800 W. Whittier Blvd., La Habra, CA 90631
Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 11:00 PMThe kiosk that makes readers think La Habra has an office — it has a kiosk, not an office. Note the street name: this kiosk sits on Whittier Boulevard in La Habra, while the Whittier field office sits on Painter Avenue in Whittier — two different streets, two different cities, do not merge them.
Albertsons in Buena Park
8880 Valley View St., Buena Park, CA 90620
Mon–Sun 6:00 AM – 11:00 PMOne of two grocery kiosks in Buena Park. Buena Park has no field office — it has kiosks, not an office.
Superior Grocers in Buena Park
6931 La Palma Ave., Buena Park, CA 90620
Mon–Sun 7:00 AM – 10:00 PMThe second grocery kiosk in Buena Park. Same warning: a kiosk is not an office.
Ralphs in Orange
1435 W. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA 92868
Hours not shown on the official nearby list — check dmv.ca.gov before you goThe kiosk that makes readers think Orange has an office — it has a kiosk, not an office. This page prints no hours for it because the official nearby list captured no hours for this kiosk; do not trust a directory’s hours here.
Superior Grocers in Santa Ana (17th St)
1720 E. 17th St., Santa Ana
Mon–Sun 7:00 AM – 10:00 PMOne caution on the official listing itself: the DMV’s nearby list shows this kiosk’s ZIP as 91707 — that looks like a DMV data error (Santa Ana ZIPs are 927xx), so this page prints the street address without a ZIP rather than silently “correcting” the official record. Verify the ZIP on the kiosk’s own dmv.ca.gov page before navigating by ZIP.

The count, stated carefully so it cannot be misread: one kiosk on site at the Fullerton field office, plus eight grocery kiosks on the office page’s official nearby list (Fullerton Malvern, Brea, Anaheim, La Habra, Buena Park ×2, Orange, Santa Ana) — nine kiosk locations in the Fullerton-page cluster. Never “nine kiosks in Fullerton” without the distinction: only the Albertsons Malvern kiosk is inside Fullerton city limits, and it is NOT at the DMV office. For a Brea reader, that distinction is the whole story: the kiosk is why a Brea resident can renew a registration without ever leaving the city, and also why a Brea resident still has to drive to Fullerton for a REAL ID or a drive test. Payment at kiosks: cash, credit card, and debit card accepted; one payment method per transaction; a 1.95% service fee applies to credit and debit card transactions (DMV kiosk FAQ). Bring the renewal notice (with its Renewal Identification Number) or the current registration card; for a replacement card or sticker bring the plate number and the last five digits of the VIN; for records bring the licence or ID card. More on kiosk-eligible tasks in our DMV kiosk guide.

The kiosk-versus-office decision is the page’s practical payoff, so here it is plainly. If the task is a registration renewal, a PNO filing, or a record copy, a grocery kiosk (open to 10:00 PM, 11:00 PM, or 1:00 AM daily, including weekends when every field office is closed) beats any office visit — the Albertsons Malvern kiosk in Fullerton runs 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM every day, and the Ralphs kiosk in Brea runs to 1:00 AM. If the task is a REAL ID, a first licence, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the Valencia Drive office. If the renewal needs a smog check or has a hold, the kiosk will not clear it — then it becomes an office task.

7DMV partners near Fullerton: registration help for an extra fee

Partner caution, in the DMV’s own wording: “Businesses authorized by the DMV to handle certain registration services, often with much shorter wait times (if any!). Additional fees may be applied by this partner.” Partners handle registration-type work only; they do not issue licences, run tests, or process REAL ID. Ask the price before handing over paperwork. The partner list below is the official dmv.ca.gov listing for this cluster, re-verified November 3, 2026 — commercial “DMV registration” sites and directory listings are not DMV partners and are not presented as such.

PartnerAddress & phoneHours (dmv.ca.gov)Notes
VIP Registration Services (in Fullerton — the only in-city partner verified on its own dmv.ca.gov page)515 W Commonwealth Ave., Ste. 212, Fullerton, CA 92832 — 1-714-668-0747Call before visiting — no hours printed hereThe one dmv.ca.gov-listed partner actually inside Fullerton city limits, with its address and phone printed on its own partner page. A licensed registration service — registration-type work only. Its hours calendar was not captured in this pass, so no hours are printed here. Call before visiting.
AAA Anaheim Branch420 North Euclid Ave., Anaheim, CA 92801 — 1-714-774-2392Call before visiting — no hours printed hereAAA branches handle registration services for members. Address and phone from its own dmv.ca.gov partner page. Its hours calendar was not captured in this pass, so no hours are printed here. Call before visiting. AAA does not do licences or drive tests.

Two warnings before you use this table. First, the partner-hours anomaly: several partner listings on dmv.ca.gov show “Mon–Sun Closed” — that is a data anomaly, not hours, and this page never prints “Mon–Sun Closed” as a partner’s hours. For any partner showing that pattern, the page prints name, address, and phone only, with a call-first caution. Second, the non-partner warning: no other Fullerton registration business was verified against a dmv.ca.gov business-partner page in this check, so no other business is presented here as a DMV partner. One Fullerton registration business (California Auto Registration, Orangethorpe Avenue) appears in place data — but NO dmv.ca.gov business-partner page for it was found, so it is NOT presented as a DMV partner. A search listing is not a DMV partner page. If a business calls itself a “DMV” service without appearing on dmv.ca.gov’s partner list, treat it as a private business, not as the DMV — and never hand it a task it cannot do, because no partner can issue a licence, run a test, or process a REAL ID.

8Drive tests at Fullerton: what to expect

“Testing” is on the Fullerton field office’s official services list, so behind-the-wheel drive tests are bookable here — as a separate appointment type in the official scheduler, not as part of a general office visit. That separation is the most common booking mistake in the whole DMV system, and it is worth repeating for a cluster where the next office is a freeway drive away: book “drive test,” not “office visit,” for the road test, or you will be rebooking instead of testing. Drive tests are appointment-only — there is no walk-in path for them. The test itself follows the standard California examiner pattern — residential speed control, full stops, mirror and blind-spot discipline, lane discipline, and parking — and the best preparation is the same everywhere: practice on the skills in our driving test appointment guide and driving test tips, not a memorized route. This page deliberately prints no street-by-street examiner route for Fullerton: no verified turn-by-turn route text was found for this office, and an invented route would be worse than no route.

The car-qualification checklist is statewide and worth running the night before, because a failed car check costs the appointment: valid registration, current insurance, working brake lights, turn signals, horn, and mirrors — and a licensed driver who brings the test-taker and waits at the office. The examiner’s pre-drive check covers the brakes (foot and parking), horn, turn signals front and back, brake lights, tires, an unobstructed windshield, working doors and windows, a driver-side window that rolls down, seat belts, two mirrors, two plates with current registration, the defroster, hazard lights, headlights, and wipers, and asks the test-taker to locate and demonstrate the controls (window, wipers, signals, brake lights, horn, parking brake, defroster, hazards, headlights) and arm signals. The skills tested are left and right turns, stops at intersections, lane changes, straight-line reversing, curbside parking, traffic checks, and space management, with freeway driving only briefly or rarely. What loses points everywhere in California: missed mirror and blind-spot checks before lane changes, rolling stops, following too closely, speed mismatched to conditions (not just the posted limit), and pedestrian-awareness failures at crosswalks and intersections. Two more scope notes. Motorcycle skills-test availability is not itemized for Fullerton on its official page, so check the scheduler rather than assuming a motorcycle test is offered here — “Testing” is listed generically, with no breakout. And knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered after 4:30 PM, so do not book the last slot of the day and expect to test — take a morning slot for any test, drive or written, and treat the Wednesday 9:00 AM opening as a hard constraint on early appointments that day. After a failed test, a waiting period applies before retesting and the number of attempts is limited — the scheduler shows when you can rebook; no specific wait or attempt numbers are printed here without a Handbook citation. Parallel parking (other than pulling alongside a curb) is generally not required in the California test — phrased as “generally” only, never as an official guarantee.

Which office for the test, if Fullerton shows no drive-test slot? Whittier (11.9 miles, about 24 minutes) is the same work closest by, and Santa Ana (12.5 miles, about 18 minutes) is the second choice; Westminster (12.9 miles, about 21 minutes) is the third. And do NOT book the test at the Placentia IBC in Placentia (2390 Rose Drive) — it is an Industry Business Center for vehicle-industry customers, not a public counter, and it does not take a general drive-test appointment for a Fullerton reader. For Fullerton’s teen population, one note: Fullerton teens take permit and drive tests at this office, and Brea, La Habra, Placentia, and Buena Park teens use Fullerton as their first office, because none of those cities has an office of its own — frame that as geographic adjacency, never as an assigned catchment, because dmv.ca.gov does not assign catchment areas. This page prints no “easiest/hardest office to pass” ranking and no pass-rate percentage for Fullerton, because no credible, current figure exists.

9Transit, parking & getting there

By rail, the Fullerton Transportation Center (123 S. Pomona Avenue, Fullerton) is the nearby transit hub: Metrolink Orange County Line and 91/Perris Valley Line, plus Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Southwest Chief. From the Transportation Center, connect to the office by OCTA bus — Routes 26 and 43 both serve the station. This page prints no distance or walking time from the Transportation Center to the office, because no source verified at brief-write time gives it — say only “connect from Fullerton Transportation Center via OCTA 26 or 43” and use the OCTA trip planner.

By bus, OCTA Route 43 (Fullerton–Costa Mesa via Harbor Boulevard) has a stop at Harbor–Valencia — Harbor Boulevard is the nearest north–south arterial to the office, and the Harbor–Valencia stop is the closest verified stop. OCTA Route 26 (Fullerton–Yorba Linda via Commonwealth Avenue) runs along Commonwealth Avenue — the parallel street one block north of Valencia Drive — with a “Valencia” timing point on the OCTA schedule (effective August 9, 2026). Use the OCTA trip planner and check the stop nearest 909 W Valencia Drive before you travel. Never print a “get off at X, walk Y minutes” instruction, a timetable, or a frequency for any route — the schedules change, and a stale timetable is worse than no timetable. No source verified at brief-write time gives a specific bus stop’s walking distance to 909 W Valencia Drive, which sits on Valencia Drive, not Harbor Boulevard or Commonwealth Avenue.

Parking is unsourced. No official or credible source describes the office’s lot, capacity, street parking, or accessibility spaces. This page does not assert “free parking,” “large lot,” or any parking-difficulty claim for the Fullerton field office. The only tip offered is the honest one: arrive early and allow time to park, because the office does not publish parking details. No street-by-street driving directions appear anywhere on this page, for the same reason — the office address is the fact, plus the labelled OSRM drive times in section 4; the route is the reader’s navigation app.

10Fullerton & the catchment: who this office actually serves

Fullerton is a city in northern Orange County, California — about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles (commonly cited distance, labelled approximate). Its population was 143,617 at the 2020 United States census (U.S. Census Bureau, labelled with its year — never an unlabelled estimate), making it the sixth-largest city in Orange County. The 2010 census was 135,161. Do not trust the 2025 estimate as the population, and do not trust any higher figure a third-party page gives — both conflict with the 2020 census count. Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County — not Fullerton. Do not misstate this: the county-seat flagship office is the Santa Ana office, not Fullerton.

The city was founded in 1887, named for George H. Fullerton, and incorporated on February 15, 1904, and it is home to California State University, Fullerton. That is why this office matters beyond Fullerton’s own residents: it is the permit and drive-test office for a large commuter population, alongside the teens of Brea, La Habra, Placentia, and Buena Park, whose cities have no office of their own. North Orange County is a commuter region — State Route 57, State Route 91, and Interstate 5 all cross it — and a large, spread-out, car-dependent population, much of it commuting west to Los Angeles or south to Irvine, is served by a single nine-service field office.

The Fullerton decision the page must answer: Fullerton (full services + kiosk, the default for Fullerton and the whole no-office ring) vs Whittier / Santa Ana / Westminster (full services + kiosk, the nearest fallbacks, and the DEFAULT offices for La Habra and Buena Park teens when Fullerton shows nothing) vs the eight grocery kiosks (registration and records only, open weekends and late — Fullerton’s Albertsons Malvern 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily, Brea’s Ralphs to 1:00 AM daily) vs the in-city partner (VIP Registration Services on Commonwealth Avenue, registration-type work only) vs the Placentia IBC in Placentia (not a field office — do not drive there for counter work) vs the Anaheim DLPC (permanently closed — do not drive there at all). Choice by TASK and by NEAREST office first, never by invented wait-time ranking. Catchment framing only: Brea, La Habra, Orange, Buena Park, Placentia, and Anaheim readers also use this office because their own cities have no field office — framed as “nearby cities whose residents use this office” on geographic adjacency, never as measured catchment data. Do not claim Fullerton is the “official” office for Brea or La Habra — dmv.ca.gov does not assign catchment areas.

11Before you leave home — the Fullerton checklist

  • Confirm the day: Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM, not 8:00 AM; Saturday and Sunday the office is closed, full stop. Wednesday, November 11 is closed (Veterans Day). Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 are closed (Thanksgiving and the day after). Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1, 2027) are closed; Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are normal-hours days. State holidays change hours — check the official office page the day before you go (see our California DMV holidays guide).
  • Confirm the door: field office (909 W Valencia Drive) vs Placentia IBC in Placentia (not a field office) vs kiosk vs partner vs the closed Anaheim DLPC. A kiosk cannot do your REAL ID; a partner cannot do your licence; the IBC cannot do anything for a general visitor; the DLPC is closed permanently; Brea, La Habra, Orange, Buena Park, and Placentia have no field office at all.
  • Confirm the address: 909 W Valencia Drive, Fullerton, CA 92832. Valencia Drive — NOT Malvern Avenue (the Albertsons kiosk), not Commonwealth Avenue (the VIP partner), not Rose Drive in Placentia (the Placentia IBC), and not Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim (the closed DLPC). No suite number — the “#2106” fragment in one place record is not on dmv.ca.gov.
  • Confirm the task: if it is a registration renewal or a record copy, do NOT drive to Valencia Drive on a weekend — the office is closed. Use the Albertsons Malvern kiosk at 2291 W. Malvern Avenue (5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily) instead, or the on-site kiosk during office hours.
  • Bring the documents checklist for your task (identity, residency, Social Security number where required, vehicle registration and insurance for a drive test, title and smog certification where required for a transfer). A missing document is the most common reason for a second trip, and no appointment type fixes it. See our documents checklist.
  • Bring payment that the door accepts: the field office takes cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order; kiosks take cash, credit, and debit cards, with a 1.95% service fee on card transactions; partners may add their own fee on top of the DMV fee.
  • If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, skip the office entirely and use the Albertsons Malvern kiosk in Fullerton (2291 W. Malvern Ave, 5:00 AM–11:00 PM daily) or the Ralphs kiosk in Brea (305 W. Imperial Hwy, 6:00 AM–1:00 AM daily) or the Albertsons kiosk in La Habra (1800 W. Whittier Blvd, 6:00 AM–11:00 PM daily) — all are open when the field office is closed, including weekends. Bring the renewal notice with its Renewal Identification Number, or the current registration card.
  • Do not book the last slot of the day for a knowledge test — tests are generally not given after 4:30 PM. And do not book an appointment at all for a renewal, a record copy, or a replacement licence — those go online, to a kiosk, or by mail.
  • If Fullerton shows nothing, widen by task, not by distance: Whittier first for full services with a kiosk (11.9 miles), then Santa Ana (12.5 miles) or Westminster (12.9 miles) — all full-service with kiosks on site. For La Habra and Buena Park readers, Whittier is the second choice after Fullerton. Never drive to the Placentia IBC for counter work, and never drive to the Anaheim DLPC at all.

Before you leave, run the three checks from this page: the right day (Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM; weekends closed; November 11, 26, and 27 closed), the right door (field office vs IBC vs kiosk vs partner vs closed DLPC — a kiosk cannot do your REAL ID, a partner cannot do your licence, the IBC cannot do anything for a general visitor, and this office itself has both an on-site kiosk and a grocery kiosk in its own city), and the right address (909 W Valencia Drive — Valencia, not Malvern, not Commonwealth, not Rose Drive in Placentia, not Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim). Those three checks prevent more wasted north Orange County trips than any other advice on this page.

12Which door does your task use?

This table is the page’s practical payoff: most wasted north Orange County trips are not about the address, they are about the wrong door. Read the row for your task before you book anything.

Your taskWhere it goesWhy
First driver’s licence, REAL ID first application, licence renewal that requires an office visitFullerton field office, “office visit” appointment typeOnly a full-service field office issues licences and REAL IDs. Kiosks, partners, the IBC, and the closed DLPC cannot do them; Brea, La Habra, Orange, Buena Park, Placentia, and Anaheim have no office of their own.
Behind-the-wheel drive testFullerton field office, “drive test” appointment type (separate from office visit)Fullerton lists Testing. Booking a general office visit for a road test means rebooking. Bring a qualifying vehicle and a licensed driver; the Placentia IBC in Placentia is an industry facility, not a drive-test site for a Fullerton reader.

Knowledge (written) test — retestFullerton field office (or Whittier / Santa Ana / Westminster)No limited-service shortcut exists in this cluster, so a retest is a Fullerton, Whittier, Santa Ana, or Westminster office task.

Driver’s licence renewal (eligible, under 70, no REAL ID upgrade, no holds)Grocery kiosk (Albertsons Malvern Fullerton 5 AM–11 PM, Ralphs Brea to 1 AM, Albertsons La Habra to 11 PM) or onlineNo office visit needed, and kiosks run weekends and late. If the renewal needs a photo, vision test, or re-examination, it becomes an office task.
Registration renewal, planned non-operation, driver/vehicle record copyGrocery kiosk (Fullerton Malvern / Brea / La Habra / Buena Park / Anaheim / Orange / Santa Ana), the on-site Fullerton kiosk, or onlineNo office visit needed — and at Fullerton there is an on-site kiosk AND a grocery kiosk in the same city, so the kiosk plan is the easy plan. If the renewal needs a smog check or has a hold, the kiosk will not clear it — then it becomes a Fullerton office task.
Title transfer, new registration, plates, placards, replacement registration card (complex cases)Fullerton field office only (in this cluster)Kiosks cannot do title transfers; partners handle registration-type work only. Ready to book?

Booking happens on the DMV’s official scheduler — it’s free. Book the Valencia Drive office for Fullerton, Brea, La Habra, Placentia, Buena Park, and Anaheim visits — and remember to pick “drive test” (not a general visit) if you are booking a road test, to use the on-site kiosk or the Albertsons Malvern kiosk on Malvern Avenue for renewals and records instead of an office visit, and to check the Whittier fallback for full services with a kiosk. Bring our document checklist so you walk in prepared, and double-check the holiday schedule before you go — the office is closed November 11, 26, and 27.
