Santa Rosa DMV: Hours, Services & Appointment Guide
The full-service DMV field office for Santa Rosa and Sonoma County — nine counter services, an on-site self-service kiosk, and behind-the-wheel drive tests. But check the rules before you book: simple renewals, records, and replacement licenses get no counter service at all, and the nearby offices are not interchangeable. Independent guide, verified against dmv.ca.gov.
Verified against dmv.ca.gov: October 27, 2026 · Independent guide — not affiliated with the California DMV or dmv.ca.gov. Booking always happens on the official DMV scheduler; this page helps you prepare.
1Santa Rosa’s county-seat office — and the rule that saves most trips
If you live in Santa Rosa, this is your DMV office — and it is a good one to have. The field office at 2570 Corby Ave is a full-service office with an on-site self-service kiosk: all nine services on the DMV’s list, from licensing and testing to title transfers, registration, plates, replacements, records, and the kiosk itself. Santa Rosa is the county seat of Sonoma County, in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, and its 2020 census population was 178,127 — the largest city in the county. That is why this office carries so much of the county’s DMV traffic, and why getting its facts right matters: readers from smaller Sonoma County communities who search for a local DMV will find no office in their own town, and Santa Rosa (or Petaluma, for the south county) is the office the DMV system actually gives them.
But the most important paragraph on this page is not about this office at all — it is about the trips you do not need to make. The DMV’s own appointments page states, in its “Know Before You Go” section, that the DMV does not provide counter service for vehicle registration renewal, driver’s license or ID card renewal (unless your renewal notice specifies an in-person visit), driver and vehicle records, or replacement driver’s licenses. Those transactions “must be done online, at a DMV kiosk, with a DMV business partner, or by mail.” A large share of people searching for this office do not need the office at all, and this page says so up front rather than funneling everyone into an appointment. The office’s own kiosk (section 5) and the nine business partners in section 6 are the correct redirections for exactly those transactions. If your task is a registration renewal or a record copy, the kiosk inside this office probably beats a counter visit. If it is a REAL ID, a first license, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the office.
Two more identity facts before you go anywhere. First, this office is in Santa Rosa, California, in Sonoma County — not Santa Rosa Island off Santa Barbara, and not the Santa Rosa communities in other states. Search engines mix them; one sentence here keeps you from following the wrong map pin. Second, this page is an independent guide, not the DMV. We cannot book for you, we cannot see live slot availability, and we never charge for booking — booking on dmv.ca.gov is free, and any site charging a booking fee is not the DMV. Every office fact below — address, hours, services, payments, nearby offices, kiosks, partners — was re-read on the official dmv.ca.gov pages on October 27, 2026. Where a fact could not be verified on an official source, this page says so instead of printing a guess: no street-by-street drive-test route, no motorcycle-testing claim, no parking description, no wait-time minutes, and no review numbers appear anywhere below.
2Hours, services & what this office offers
The weekly pattern is the standard California field-office pattern, confirmed on the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page (which prints a two-week calendar, for the weeks of October 26 and November 2, 2026, showing the same pattern in both weeks):
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Tuesday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Wednesday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (opens one hour late) |
| Thursday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Saturday – Sunday | Closed |
The Wednesday quirk is the detail that catches the most people: every other weekday opens at 8:00 AM, but Wednesday opens at 9:00 AM. Do not show up at 8:00 on a Wednesday expecting the early-bird advantage — you will wait outside for an hour. Weekends are closed, full stop. No California DMV field office lists Saturday hours, so be skeptical of any directory that claims a Saturday opening for Santa Rosa. One caution the weekly grid itself forces: the grid does not show holiday closures, because the DMV’s holiday schedule is separate from the weekly grid. Confirm on the official office page the day before you go if your visit falls in a holiday week — see our California DMV holidays guide. And one timing rule that applies statewide: knowledge (written) tests are generally not offered late in the day, so do not book the last slot of the day and expect to test.
The office provides nine services, exactly as listed on dmv.ca.gov — and the ninth is the one that sets Santa Rosa apart from most of its neighbours. The office page carries the kiosk badge in two independent places: a banner line directly under the address reads “This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line,” and “Self Service Terminals” appears as its own entry in the Services Provided list. Either signal alone would be enough; together they remove all doubt. Kiosk on site: yes.
| Service (official list) | What it means for your visit |
|---|---|
| Licensing Services | Driver licenses and ID cards: first-time applications, REAL ID applications, renewals that require an in-person visit (for example where the renewal notice says so), and changes to a license record such as a name change. Routine renewals are explicitly NOT counter work — see section 1. REAL ID first applications require an in-person office visit with original documents — this is the single biggest reason people still visit in person. Start the application online first for a confirmation code; it shortens counter time. AB 60 licenses are also handled here: California issues driver licenses regardless of immigration status, accepting a foreign passport or matrícula consular as identity, with cards marked “Federal Limits Apply”. |
| Testing | Knowledge (written) tests and behind-the-wheel drive tests, booked as separate appointment types in the official scheduler. The published list names the category only; it does not itemize which tests. Motorcycle-testing availability is not itemized for this office on its official page — check the scheduler for the test type you need rather than assuming it. See section 3. |
| Title Transfers | Private-party sales, family transfers, and out-of-state titles. Bring the signed title, smog certification where required, and odometer disclosure. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification (REG 31) at the office. Point readers to the DMV’s title-transfer guidance for document requirements rather than a guessed checklist. |
| Registration | New vehicle registrations, renewals that cannot be completed online, and planned non-operation (PNO) filings for vehicles going into storage. Straight registration renewals are NOT counter work — they belong at the kiosk, online, with a partner, or by mail. |
| Plates, Permits, & Placards | Replacement license plates, temporary operating permits, and disabled person placards. Disabled placard applications are one of the few counter services with no online substitute — bring the medical certification form completed by a licensed medical professional. |
| Replace Lost/Stolen/Damaged | Duplicate driver licenses, registration cards, and vehicle titles when the original is lost, stolen, or damaged. Note the tension honestly: the DMV’s appointments page routes replacement driver’s licenses away from the counter (online, kiosk, partner, or mail). The category exists on the office page, but a replacement license specifically should not be booked as an office visit. |
| Records | Driver and vehicle record requests. The same routing note applies: records are listed among the transactions with no counter service, to be done online, at a kiosk, with a partner, or by mail. Check eligibility before visiting. |
| Request miscellaneous original documents | A catch-all DMV category for original-document requests that do not fit the other headings. Described here in exactly those terms — do not guess which documents it covers. |
| Self Service Terminals | The on-site self-service kiosk — registration renewals, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records without a counter visit, during office hours. This is what makes Santa Rosa different from Petaluma, Novato, Napa, Ukiah, and Vallejo, none of which has an on-site kiosk. See section 5. |
Payment is the same statewide line printed on the office page: the DMV accepts cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order at field offices. The statewide phone line for everything is 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). Present it as the DMV’s general line, not a Santa Rosa direct line: no office-specific phone number is published on the Santa Rosa office page, so any “direct Santa Rosa DMV number” from a directory is unverified. This page deliberately prints no fee dollar amounts: fee line items change and are gated until re-verified on dmv.ca.gov at build time, and the one figure that is safe to state is that booking itself is free.
3Booking an appointment here
Booking happens only on the DMV’s official scheduler, and it is free. Here is the play for a Santa Rosa visit:
- Check whether you need the counter at all. Registration renewal, routine license/ID renewal (unless your notice says in person), driver and vehicle records, and replacement licenses are NOT counter services — do them online, at the Santa Rosa kiosk, with a business partner (section 6), or by mail. Do not book an office visit for them.
- Start the application online first. The DMV’s appointments page instructs driver’s license customers to save time by completing the driver’s license application online before the appointment. Do this before picking a time.
- Pick the right appointment type FIRST. The DMV appointment system treats an office visit and a behind-the-wheel drive test as two different appointment types, booked on the same scheduler but chosen separately. Picking the wrong type is the most common booking mistake: a drive test booked as a general visit means rebooking. Choose the office-visit type for licenses, ID, registration, and most counter services, or the behind-the-wheel drive test type for the road test.
- Search by ZIP (95407) or “Santa Rosa” and pick the Corby Ave office — not a partner, not a kiosk address. Booking is free; any site charging a booking fee is not the DMV.
- Bring the documents for your transaction. Document sets differ by transaction (REAL ID, title transfer, and first license are different bundles), so use the DMV’s transaction-specific document guidance rather than a universal checklist. The REAL ID bundle, from the DMV’s “What Is REAL ID?” page: one proof of identity (valid US passport or passport card, certified birth certificate, permanent resident card, or similar); Social Security number provided on the application; and TWO different documents proving California residency showing first and last name and the mailing address that will appear on the card (mortgage bill, home utility or cell phone bill, vehicle registration card, bank statement, or similar). If the true full name on the document does not match the current true full name, additional name-change documentation is required. Originals only — photocopies are never accepted.
- If Santa Rosa shows nothing: widen the same search to Petaluma, Novato, Napa, or Ukiah (section 4) — offices serve all California residents regardless of address. Check back: cancellations open slots.
- If your plans change, cancel through the scheduler so the slot frees up for someone else, then book a new time.
- Prefer phone? Call 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). TTY 1-800-368-4327. Commercial drive tests follow a separate booking path in the DMV system — follow the scheduler’s on-screen instruction for your test type rather than assuming an online slot exists.
Same-day option: check the official office page on the morning of your visit for the current same-day check-in option. The old “Get in Line” system was discontinued around March 2026 and QR check-in succeeded it in April 2026 — do not describe the old system as current. And the night-before check that costs nothing: confirm the office’s hours on its dmv.ca.gov page, especially on Wednesdays (9:00 AM opening) and around state holidays.
4Nearby offices: the decision table (and three traps)
Every office below was verified on its own dmv.ca.gov field-office page on October 27, 2026. Kiosk status is that office’s own badge-plus-services-list result, never copied from Santa Rosa’s nearby card. All eight list the same eight core service categories as Santa Rosa; only Fairfield and Corte Madera add the ninth, Self Service Terminals. The DMV’s own nearby-wait-times strip on the Santa Rosa page names Petaluma, Novato, Napa, and Ukiah — all four verified below as real, open offices. No wait-time minutes from that strip are printed here: it is a live, time-varying display, and any snapshot quoted on this page would go stale within the hour.
| Office | Address (own page) | Hours (own page) | Kiosk on site? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petaluma — next Sonoma County office, south | 111 Lynch Creek Wy, Petaluma, CA 94954 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | No |
| Novato — Marin County, south | 1300 Grant Ave Suite 104, Novato, CA 94945 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | No |
| Napa — Napa County, east | 2550 Napa Valley Corporate Dr, Napa, CA 94558 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | No |
| Ukiah — Mendocino County, north | 542 S Orchard Ave, Ukiah, CA 95482 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | No |
| Vallejo — Solano County, southeast | 200 Couch St, Vallejo, CA 94590 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | No |
| Fairfield — Solano County, kiosk office | 160 Serrano Dr, Fairfield, CA 94533 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | Yes |
| Lakeport — Lake County, two-day office | 965 Parallel Dr, Lakeport, CA 95453 | Tue & Thu ONLY, 8–5; Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun closed | No |
| Corte Madera — kiosk office, El Cerrito address | 11450 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530 | Mon–Tue 8–5, Wed 9–5, Thu–Fri 8–5, Sat–Sun closed | Yes |
Trap 1 — Petaluma’s address conflict. Santa Rosa’s nearby card still shows Petaluma at “715 – J Southpoint Boulevard, Petaluma, CA 94954,” but Petaluma’s OWN page today gives “111 Lynch Creek Wy, Petaluma, CA 94954.” The own page wins. This page uses Lynch Creek Way, and older guides showing the Southpoint address are stale — one of the strongest competitor-gap points on this page.
Trap 2 — Corte Madera’s address is in El Cerrito. The slug is “corte-madera,” but the office’s own page gives 11450 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530. This page prints the El Cerrito address with the Corte Madera name and does not “correct” it to a Corte Madera street address, so readers navigating to it are not confused. Guides that place the Corte Madera-slug office on a Corte Madera street address contradict its own page.
Trap 3 — Lakeport is a two-day office. Tuesday and Thursday only. Any guide that lists Lakeport with standard weekday hours is wrong, and any reader sent there on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday will find it closed. This is the single most consequential hours trap in the nearby set.
The decision rule is simple: match the task to the office’s services list before you drive, not after. If you need a kiosk and Santa Rosa’s terminal is unavailable, Fairfield and Corte Madera are the verified kiosk-bearing fallbacks in this set — stated without any distance claim, because none was verified. If you need a full-service office in Sonoma County, Petaluma is the next one south. And if your task is a simple renewal or a record copy, none of these offices is the answer — use the kiosk, the online portal, a partner, or mail (section 1).
Cities with no field office — corrections. Each of the following was fetched on dmv.ca.gov on October 27, 2026 and returned “Page not found.” Do not list any of them as a DMV office, and be skeptical of any guide that does: Rohnert Park (its B/C Registration Service is a partner, section 6 — not an office); San Rafael (Marin County readers are served by Novato and the Corte Madera-slug office); Windsor, Healdsburg, Sebastopol, Sonoma (city), Cloverdale, Cotati, American Canyon. If you live in one of those towns, Santa Rosa (or Petaluma, for the southern county) is the office the DMV system actually gives you, and the partners in section 6 are the in-town alternative for registration services only. The same correction logic applies to the city of Sonoma: there is no DMV field office in the city of Sonoma, and Santa Rosa serves Sonoma County’s seat but is not “the Sonoma office.”
5Kiosks: the on-site terminal, and an honest cluster
Santa Rosa’s kiosk is a DMV self-serve terminal inside the field office. Per the DMV’s own kiosk description, kiosks “are convenient and offer services that are quick and easy,” and on the DMV’s kiosk guidance generally, kiosks are self-serve stations where certain registration services can be completed and driver or vehicle records requested — and the range of services varies by kiosk location. Three things follow, and this page does all three:
- Use the terminal for kiosk-eligible transactions instead of booking a counter visit. Registration renewal, planned non-operation, and driver/vehicle records are the kiosk’s job. That is the DMV’s own routing.
- No specific kiosk transaction list is promised for Santa Rosa. The office page does not publish one, and kiosk service ranges vary by location. Do not assume a transaction is available at the terminal — check the DMV’s kiosk guidance for your task.
- No kiosk hours are published for this terminal. The office page gives no kiosk hours; the “open daily” phrase is the page’s general kiosk marketing line, not a Santa Rosa schedule. Do not convert it into a kiosk-hours claim.
Now the honest finding, because it is the one most guides would get wrong by inventing a roster. The Santa Rosa office page’s nearby list contains no standalone DMV kiosk entries. Both the field-office page’s nearby list and the DMV’s kiosk listing page for Santa Rosa render the same ten-entry set: the Santa Rosa office itself, the Petaluma office, and business partners — zero entries labeled “DMV Kiosk.” This page therefore does NOT invent a “kiosks near Santa Rosa” roster of grocery-store terminals. What the verified evidence supports is a cluster framed exactly like this:
- Anchor: the Santa Rosa office’s own kiosk (badge + services list, section 2). This is the kiosk most Santa Rosa readers should use, and it is inside the office they are already looking up.
- Nearest kiosk-bearing field offices, verified on their own pages: Fairfield (160 Serrano Dr) and Corte Madera (El Cerrito address above). Both carry the kiosk badge and list Self Service Terminals. These are the verified fallback kiosks if the Santa Rosa terminal is unavailable — stated without any distance claim.
- Petaluma is NOT a kiosk fallback. Its page has no kiosk badge and no Self Service Terminals entry. Guides that describe Petaluma as a kiosk site are wrong against today’s page.
- Business partners are not kiosks. The nine partners in section 6 handle certain registration services in person, but they are partner businesses, not self-serve terminals, and this page does not label them as kiosks.
The kiosk-vs-office decision, stated once so it sticks: if the task is a registration renewal, a planned non-operation filing, or a record copy, the terminal beats a weekday office visit. If the task is a REAL ID, a first license, a drive test, or a title transfer, the kiosk cannot do it — book the Corby Ave office. For the full kiosk picture across California, see our DMV kiosk guide.
6DMV business partners near Santa Rosa
Partners are businesses authorized by the DMV to handle certain registration services. The DMV’s own partner description notes additional fees may be applied by the partner — ask the price before handing over paperwork, and note that no partner fee figure is stated anywhere on this page. Partners handle registration-type work only; they do not issue licenses, run tests, or process REAL ID, and they are not DMV offices. All nine partners below come from the Santa Rosa office page’s nearby list.
All-week-closed anomaly rule: three partners show “Mon–Sun Closed” on the DMV listing. For those three, this page prints name, address, and phone ONLY — no hours — because publishing “closed all week” as hours would mislead readers. The listing is plainly stale or unmaintained, and the reader’s correct action is to call first.
| Partner | Address | Phone | Published hours |

| Legacy Auto Sales / smog Station Reg | 3102 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 | 1-707-579-0144 | Call first — listing shows all-week closed |
| Valley West Insurance Services Inc | 1630 Sebastopol Rd Ste 102, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 | 1-707-575-9378 | Call first — listing shows all-week closed |
| HENSLEY’S AUTO | 468 Yolanda Ave Suite 915, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 | 1-707-544-1750 | Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sun closed |
| Auto Saver Plus Insurance Agency LLC | 620 Sebastopol Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 | 1-707-523-1888 | Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–6:00 PM; Sat–Sun closed |

| Gabby Insurance Agency | 716 College Ave Ste A1, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 | 1-707-578-4229 | Call first — listing shows all-week closed |
| B/C Registration Service | 10 Enterprise Dr Suite A, Rohnert Park, CA 94928 | 1-707-206-0579 | Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–5:30 PM; Sat–Sun closed |
| Trejo Insurance Services – Sebastopol | 871 Gravenstein Ave, Sebastopol, CA 95472 | 1-707-827-0050 | Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat–Sun closed |
Two notes worth one sentence each. B/C Registration Service is in Rohnert Park — it is a partner business, NOT a Rohnert Park DMV office (there is no Rohnert Park field office). And North Bay’s Sunday hours (10:00 AM–2:00 PM) make it the only partner in the set open on Sundays, exactly as published; Hensley’s Saturday hours are the only other weekend partner hours in the set.
7What this office is NOT — five confusions, killed
- Not the Sonoma city DMV. There is no DMV field office in the city of Sonoma. Santa Rosa serves Sonoma County’s seat, but it is not “the Sonoma office.”
- Not a Rohnert Park office. Rohnert Park has a partner (B/C Registration Service), not a field office. Readers in Rohnert Park needing counter services use Santa Rosa or Petaluma.
- Not open on weekends. Saturday and Sunday are closed, every week in the published grid. The on-site kiosk’s general “open daily” wording is not weekend counter hours.
- Not the place for simple renewals. Registration renewal, routine license/ID renewal, records, and replacement licenses have no counter service (section 1). The kiosk, the online portal, a partner, or mail is the correct route — not an appointment at this office.
- Not affiliated with the partner businesses. Partners are independent businesses authorized for certain registration services; they may apply additional fees (the DMV’s own wording), and they are not DMV offices. Their hours are their own, not the DMV’s.
8Getting here by public transit
No stop, no route, and no walk claim is asserted here, because none was verified against a stop-to-office source. What is verified is the operator set and where to plan the trip: SMART (Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit) — the rail line serving Sonoma County, with Santa Rosa stations; plan at sonomamarintrain.org. Sonoma County Transit (SCT) — the county bus system; plan at sctransit.com. Santa Rosa CityBus — the city bus system, with a Transit Mall and connections to SMART’s Santa Rosa stations; plan at srcitybus.org. CityBus honors transfers with Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and SMART, and accepts Clipper cards. The instruction, stated once: check your trip on the operator’s planner before you travel — SMART, Sonoma County Transit, and Santa Rosa CityBus all serve Santa Rosa, and their planners will show the current routes and stops for the Corby Avenue office. This page names no bus stop, no route number to the office, no station-to-office walk time, and no timetable, because those are exactly the claims that cannot be verified without a stop-level source.
Parking: not described. No official or credible source describes the Corby Avenue office’s lot, capacity, street parking, or accessibility spaces. This page asserts no “free parking,” no “large lot,” and no parking-difficulty claim. Arrive early and allow time to park; the office does not publish parking details.
Drive-test preparation (skills, not routes). No street-by-street examiner route is asserted for this office — no verified turn-by-turn route text exists for Santa Rosa. Practice guidance stays at skill level: residential speed control, full stops, mirror and blind-spot discipline, lane changes, curbside parking — the standard California examiner skills from our driving test guide and driving test tips. Bring a roadworthy, properly registered and insured vehicle and a licensed driver, plus your permit. After a failed test, a waiting period applies before retesting and the number of attempts is limited — the scheduler shows when you can rebook; no specific wait or attempt numbers are printed here without a Handbook citation.
9Best and worst times to visit
- Best: an appointment at any hour beats a walk-in at the “best” hour. Within the week, arriving at the 8:00 AM opening is the calmest window.
- Good: mid-afternoon (around 2:00–3:30 PM) on Tuesday–Thursday, after the lunch rush clears. Do not cut it close to the end of the day if you need a knowledge test.
- Worst: Mondays and Fridays, the first and last days of the month, and days right after a holiday — the standard DMV peak pattern.
- Wednesday quirk: the office opens at 9:00 AM, not 8:00 — do not show up at 8:00 expecting the early-bird advantage.
- When Santa Rosa is full: check Petaluma, Novato, Napa, or Ukiah in the same search for full services — and check back for cancellations. If your task is a renewal or a record copy, the on-site kiosk beats any office queue.
Sources used: dmv.ca.gov (Santa Rosa field office page — address, hours grid for the weeks of October 26 and November 2, 2026, kiosk badge, 9 services, payments, nearby list, nearby-wait strip — plus Petaluma, Novato, Napa, Ukiah, Vallejo, Fairfield, Lakeport, and Corte Madera office pages and the Santa Rosa kiosk listing page, all read October 27, 2026; official appointments page for the no-counter-service rule and the apply-online-first instruction; official kiosk description; REAL ID documents page), Wikipedia “Santa Rosa, California” (county seat of Sonoma County; 2020 census population 178,127) and “Sonoma County, California” (corroboration), SMART / Sonoma County Transit / Santa Rosa CityBus operator pages (planner framing only, no stop claims). No fee dollar amounts, wait-time minutes, review numbers, parking descriptions, drive-test routes, motorcycle-testing claims, distances, or drive times appear on this page, because no official source verified them on build day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Santa Rosa DMV address?
2570 Corby Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 — the full-service field office for Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, in the North Bay region. Use this address, not a directory variant: it comes from the office’s own dmv.ca.gov page, verified October 27, 2026.
What are the Santa Rosa DMV hours?
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday closed. Wednesday opens one hour late — do not arrive at 8:00 AM on a Wednesday expecting the doors to be open.
Is the Santa Rosa DMV open on Saturday?
No — closed Saturday and Sunday, every week in the published grid. Any guide showing Saturday hours for Santa Rosa is wrong. The on-site kiosk’s general ‘open daily’ wording is not weekend counter hours.
Why does it open at 9:00 AM on Wednesday?
Wednesday is the DMV’s late-opening day at this office (and at most offices in this set): 9:00 AM instead of 8:00 AM. The DMV publishes the pattern without a Santa Rosa-specific explanation, so this page states the fact rather than inventing a reason.
Do I need an appointment to visit the Santa Rosa DMV?
Book through the DMV scheduler for counter services — but first check whether your transaction even has counter service. Registration renewal, routine license/ID renewal, records, and replacement licenses do not, and should go online, to the kiosk, to a partner, or by mail instead of an office visit.
Does the Santa Rosa DMV have a kiosk?
Yes — a self-serve terminal on site, confirmed by both the kiosk badge (‘This office has a self-serve kiosk to avoid waiting in line’) and the Self Service Terminals entry on the office page. Use it for kiosk-eligible transactions instead of booking a counter visit. No kiosk hours are published for this terminal.
What services does the Santa Rosa DMV offer?
Nine published categories: Licensing Services, Testing, Title Transfers, Registration, Plates/Permits/Placards, Replace Lost/Stolen/Damaged, Records, Request miscellaneous original documents, and Self Service Terminals. See section 2 for what each one means for your visit.
Can I take my behind-the-wheel drive test at Santa Rosa?
Drive tests are booked as a separate appointment type from office visits — pick the drive-test type in the scheduler, not a general visit. The office page lists ‘Testing’ but does not itemize test types, so confirm your test type in the live scheduler rather than assuming a menu — including for motorcycle tests.
What forms of payment does the Santa Rosa DMV accept?
Cash, check, credit card, debit card, digital wallet, and money order — the full six-method list published on the office page. The statewide phone line is 1-800-777-0133 (automated 24/7; live representatives Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). No office-specific phone number is published for Santa Rosa.
Is there a DMV office in Rohnert Park?
No. Rohnert Park has a DMV business partner (B/C Registration Service, 10 Enterprise Dr Suite A) for certain registration services, but no field office. Santa Rosa and Petaluma are the counter-service offices for that area. The same is true of San Rafael, Windsor, Healdsburg, Sebastopol, Sonoma (city), Cloverdale, Cotati, and American Canyon — none has a field office on dmv.ca.gov.
Which nearby DMV office should I use if Santa Rosa is booked?
Petaluma (111 Lynch Creek Wy) is the next Sonoma County field office; Novato, Napa, Ukiah, Vallejo, Fairfield, Lakeport (Tuesday/Thursday only), and Corte Madera are the other verified alternatives. Fairfield and Corte Madera are the kiosk-bearing fallbacks. Availability is shown live in the scheduler — no availability claim is made here.
Can I renew my registration or replace a lost license at the Santa Rosa office?
No — the DMV does not provide counter service for those transactions. Renew online, at the Santa Rosa kiosk, with a business partner, or by mail. Do not book an office visit for them. The same rule covers routine license/ID renewals and driver/vehicle records.
Ready to book?
Booking happens on the DMV’s official scheduler — it’s free. Book the Corby Avenue office for Santa Rosa and Sonoma County visits — and remember to pick “drive test” (not a general visit) if you are booking a road test, to check whether your task even needs a counter visit first, and to double-check Wednesday’s 9:00 AM opening. Bring our document checklist so you walk in prepared, and double-check the holiday schedule before you go.
